Social Corner We are still looking for a home to host our annual Holiday Party. It is traditionally held in December and the host gets to select the date that works best for them. Our fabulous Social Committee comes in to help setup and cleanup, so hosting is a breeze. You just provide your beautiful home, plus you don’t have to be concerned with finding a parking place! If you would be interested in hosting, or would like to join this amazing team of ladies, our WC Social Committee, please contact Cheryl Garza via email Cheryl.garza@sbcglobal.net or at 713-828-4780. Look for pictures from our Wimbledon Champions Summer Social in our September Social Corner. August Congratulations to Philip Gilliam at 16026 Gore Grass

for managing to keep a lovely blooming yard in the midst of brutal summer heat. It is obvious he is a plant-lover because of the number and wide variety of plants in the yard. Sago Palms accent the corners of the house. Between them, across the beds next to the house are neatly trimmed low green hedges including Privet and Boxwoods. Between the street and the curving drive (Continued on page 3)

WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS (Continued from page 2) is a bed full of different types and textures of plants including Jasmine, Agapanthus, Azaleas, Geraniums and others. In the center of this bed near the drive is a large fountain with Bird of Paradise, Purple Fountain Grass, and Queen Palms framing it on both sides. Vinca is blooming in the planter box that includes the mail box. Japanese Blueberry bushes accent the bed on the street corner and Crepe Myrtles are planted near the house on the side. Philip will receive a $50 gift certificate from Plants of All Seasons.

August Recipe Looking for a new way to eat your veggies? Here is a fun way to eat zucchini squash

Crispy Baked Zucchini Fries INGREDIENTS: 2-3 small zucchini, sliced into fry shapes 1/4 cup flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1/2 cup milk 1 cup breadcrumbs 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Keeping your home cool Since 1979

DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 425F. Lightly grease a cooling rack, place it on a baking tray, and set aside. Set up an assembly line: flour and spices in one bowl, milk in another, and breadcrumbs in a third. Dip each zucchini stick in the flour, then the milk, then the breadcrumbs. Place on the cooling rack. Bake 18-19 minutes, or until desired crispiness is reached. Makes 40-45 fries. Serve with ranch dressing or marinara sauce for dipping! Bon appétit!
