2013 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Signs Not Allowed in Yards

There are many vendors and solicitors that approach our community and offer you a deal such as “if you let me put my business sign in your front yard; then you will save $500 dollars off our services”. Some have even gone as far to say that the HOA has approved this and they are incorrect. The Board of Directors has not deviated from the governing documents and do not take a position of allowing such signs within our community. We would like to inform you that signs of any kind except “For Sale/Rent” are not allowed per our governing documents and doing so will result in a notice of violation being issued to the homeowner. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in keeping our neighborhood looking great.

ACC Approval

It’s the time of year when homeowners are making improvements to the outside of their homes. These improvements are important and highly encouraged. It helps to keep an updated appearance of our neighborhood, and inviting to future homeowners. Please remember that all of your improvements must maintain the harmony and integrity of our community. Any projects that alter the outside of a private lot cannot be installed, constructed or materially modified until approved by the ACC. Projects include, but are not limited to, the addition or deletion of square footage to existing structures, addition of patios and patio covers, installation of landscaping, retaining walls and planting beds, solar lighting, xeroscaping, solar panels, rain barrels, painting and shingles. Improvement requests must be submitted to Spectrum Management for processing and approved by the ACC before the construction work can begin. The forms can found at www.spectrumam. com. For those of you planning to stain your fences, below is a list of the HOA approved fence stains. • Behr semi-transparent natural cedar, • Wood Defender Sierra semi-transparent, • Olympic Desert Sand semi-transparent, • Olympic Caramel semi-transparent, • Olympic Cedar Natural tone semi-transparent, • Olympic Sierra semi-transparent and • some semi-transparent redwood stains • Kwal lost luggage (the color along Wildhorse Parkway)

Kiddie Playground and Community Service

In June, the Public Works Committee was able to put in new kiddie cushion at the Sports Park Playground. We would like to thank all of the volunteers who came out, with shovels and rakes in hand, to help make this happen. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by the parents and children of our community!   The Public Works committee is currently planning more service opportunities for all of the members of our Wildhorse Community to participate in. If you would like to participate in future service projects, please email us at publicworks@ wildhorsecommunity.com.  The main goal of the Public Works Committee is to help maintain and improve the common areas of our neighborhood, as well as to report issues like missing street signs, sidewalk repair, non-functioning street lights, etc. to Bexar County Public Works. If you are interested in being a part of our committee please contact us at the above address.

No Solicitor Signs

At our last quarterly board meeting, the board discussed the possibility of installing “No Solicitor” signs throughout the community. The board voted and majority approved the purchase and installation of these signs. The “No Solicitor No Handbills” signs are scheduled to be placed under the existing Neighborhood Watch signs solely as a deterrent. Despite having these signs in place, should a solicitor choose to knock on your door, it does not necessarily mean that solicitors are in violation of a “no solicitors-no handbill” statute. We ask that all of the residents in our neighborhood understand that fact. The reason is that our neighborhood is not a gated community, all the streets are public domain and serviced by Bexar County. Bexar County does not have a “no solicitors no handbill” law in place and they are unable to enforce these signs. However, the board believes that by having them in place, we may deter many solicitors and distribution of handbills. Copyright © 2013 Peel, Inc.

National Night Out Thank you to all who took time to respond to our survey from last month’s newsletter. We received a great response and are in the planning stages of this fun event. The Wildhorse Community National Night Out will be held on Saturday, October 5th at the Sports Park. While it doesn’t coincide with the “Texas Night Out” it does allow for more flexibility for those with school-age children. This date received over 50% of the votes in the survey. This night will be a fun-filled time with food, prizes and games to get to know your neighbors. The main goal of the evening is to better acquaint yourselves with your neighbors, with hopes of creating a safer neighborhood and more tightly knit community. When you arrive, you will need to check in to receive your raffle tickets. There will be vendors

on site with items for raffle. The vendors will have booths set up so you can see the prizes you can win and also ask any questions you may have. Look for a list of participating vendors and prizes in the September newsletter. You can earn additional tickets by participating in games sponsored by the committee. There will be some games catered to the adults and some toward children. We are also extending an invitation to our local authorities and our security company to be on site during this event. If you have a business, would like to set up an informational booth, or have an item you would like to donate for the raffle, please email safety@ wildhorsecommunity.com. We will also need many volunteers to help this night run smoothly. Volunteers may also email us at the address listed above. Thank you for your support.

TEEN NIGHT at the Timber Country Pool

On August 10, 2013 from 7 pm to 9 pm the Social Committee is hosting a Teen Night at the Timber Country Pool. We will have a DJ and food and drinks as well as some fun games and prizes. The event is open to teens age 13-17 and we ask that parents come forward to chaperone the event. Pool cards will be required for entry into the event. To volunteer to assist at the event please email social@wildhorsecommunity. com. We are in great need of volunteers to make sure our events run smoothly and are fun for all who partake in them.  We hope that some of our older scout troops with teens this age and their leaders will consider attending this community event!

SECURE YOUR TIRES

Deputy Badillo (BCSO) requested that we alert the residents in our community that there has been some criminal activity in the early morning hours involving the theft of tires and rims. The prime vehicle targets include Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac Escalades. You can help prevent theft from happening to your vehicle by purchasing a secure locking device for less than $30. Paying this may be more manageable than paying the deductible on your vehicle should your tires get stolen. These are lug nut locks that require a certain key to remove the lock. This may not stop a thief, but may deter or slow them down.
