Bow Wow Express Holiday Festival

2nd Annual Bow Wow Express Holiday Festival Expected to Draw over 1200 People and Hundreds of Dogs. Family and dog-friendly event will provide holiday fun and raise money for the ADA’s Bow Wow Reading program for at risk readers. The Austin Dog Alliance will host the Bow Wow Express Holiday Festival on Sunday, December 18th from 1 – 4 pm at Milburn Park, 1901 Sunchase Blvd. in Cedar Park. The ADA suggests a $20 donation per family to participate in all the fun activities. The proceeds benefit Austin Dog Alliance’s Bow Wow Reading Dog program designed to help below grade level readers improve their skills. Austin Dog Alliance’s Bow Wow Reading Dog Program provides pet therapy teams to local schools and libraries. Teams are currently working with children in Round Rock ISD, Eanes ISD, Austin ISD, and Leander ISD and at the Pflugerville and Leander Libraries on a regular basis. The Holiday Festival will feature activities designed to be both fun and educational for families, including train rides, cookie and dog biscuit decorating, and carnival games. “Story Time with Bow Wow Reading Dogs is always a popular activity. The featured book this year is The Polar Express,” says Debi Krakar, Executive Director of the ADA. “We will also have vendor booths with gifts for dogs and dog-loving humans.

New this year is a costume contest for dogs and their handlers. Those wishing to participate are asked to donate $5 or bring a new dog leash or collar for ADA’s rescue dogs. The costume parade begins at 2:00pm. Prizes will be awarded in five different categories. Other fun activities include Christmas carols and ornament, snowflake and bow making. There promises to be something to please both human and canine members of the family.
