Baslow Winter Festival

even though the Christmas tree lights had to be turned on from indoors the festive spirit was lovely. The quiz night on Saturday evening was again the best quiz attendance yet with 92 tickets sold. The craft fair and Santa’s grotto on Sunday were packed, creating a very cosy atmosphere in the village hall. November 2015

Baslow held their first Winter Festival on the last weekend of November 2015. Despite initial concerns about support and finance it was a huge success. We had the worst weather possible with torrential rain and high

winds all weekend. Despite this the turnout was amazing and very indicative of the people of Baslow and their community spirit. The weekend began with the church lights switch-on at St Anne’s that has always been extremely popular but

costs associated with the Christmas tree (there’s even talk of going for a bigger tree!) We need to thank all of the sponsors, all of the people / businesses that donated raffle prizes, the Parish Council and District Council for their funding help, the Village Hall Committee for donating the use of the Village Hall, all of the performers on the Saturday, the Baslow St Anne’s School PTA for the children’s craft classes and Santa’s Grotto and everyone who turned out and supported us. We look forward to your support again in 2016 and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Baslow Winter Festival Group
