Welcome to the 2nd Annual TRI-N Charolais Farms and Guest Bull Sale W

elcome to the 2nd Annual TRI-N and Guest Bull Sale from us at TRI-N Charolais & BASKM Angus! The number says 2 but the years are plenty. 31 years as a matter of fact! In those 31 years we’ve had but one motto: “Breed the type of cattle that we would buy!” Yes, we have had some great success doing just that. We have had some failure also. But after 31 years in the business, we feel the numbers speak for themselves. This year’s bull selection is very good and ranks as one of our best and most complete thus far. Our reds are some of the deepest bodied bulls in the industry. Come to look at the TRI-N Captain Morgan bull and you will see why! The whites and tans offer calving ease and have great performance as well. This offering is anchored by the great Yangster bull. We had the misfortune of losing him two falls ago so this will be your last chance to own a son. They are some of the stoutest bulls we have ever raised! The heifer bulls will once again be offered carrying the pedigree of Xplorer and Country. Both bulls have done very well for us in our heifer pen. These sires all have one thing in common. They all have worked in our no nonsense commercial cow herd! What does work mean to us? 1) They must have libido to breed cows and by cows I mean more than one and in my breeding season. Not at the end of it! 2) They must calve. I don’t mind watching heifers, but cows ....NO WAY! 3) Calves must have vigour and suck. I don’t own a maternity pen and don’t intend to buy one! 4) The calves better look good when I wean them and even better when I sell them after a winter of feeding! My commercial buyer must like these cattle as they are the backbone of the industry. You will notice we are offering the largest sale selection of red factor bulls in Canada. Why? Well I love the red Charolais and the challenges they bring to make them better. I just don’t breed red Charolais; I breed good Charolais. That’s why you will find red, tan and white. Regardless of color, I want good cattle. You and only you will decide what colour you prefer. We aim to supply you with the “right bull for the right job!” We welcome you to our second annual bull sale. You are welcome to stop by the farm anytime for a coffee and we would love to show you the bulls. The beef business is our business and everyone is included. Thanks again, The Nykoliations, Merv, Joanne and Jesse You will again be impressed with the quality of the Tri-N bulls at this year’s sale. Calving ease,

soundness, hair, there is something for everyone here. As an added bonus, they DNA tested for homozygous red and polled on some of the bulls so you know exactly what you are getting. The herd bulls they have been using have done a great job with some of the top red bulls available this spring are sired by the anchor of their red program Tri-N Captain Morgan. The Yangster sons are again a good performance group with hair and top. The calving ease specialist MVY Xplorer has another good set of sons, as does the Beaver Creek Country bull who has been a great calving bull as well. BASKM Angus are again consigning and have some good quality yearling and older age black bulls which will go out and cover extra cows if that is what you need. Mark April 1st on your calendar and come see us at Virden. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to find you a bull that is right for your program and make your bull buying experience a pleasant one. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By • By Livestock • 306.584.7937 cell 306.536.4261

TRI-N CAPTAIN MORGAN 340A 2014 Canadian National Reserve Junior Champion Bull. A bull we are extremely proud to of raised. As we owned the sire and raised his mother we knew he was going to be great! Captain Morgan holds the record on our farm for the highest weaning weight ever recorded here (1060 lb. on October 1). As a yearling many prospective buyers came to purchase him with the question, “Is he in the sale?” Our answer was simple “NOPE!” What a great decision we made! Captain Morgan stamps his calves by all being polled and red and having his extreme depth of body and his “kitty cat” temperament. EPDs are in the top 15% for calving ease, top 3% for BW, top 4% for WW, top 3% for YW and top 2% for TM. Full brother NMF 418B

A full bro to Boulder, TRI-N Sheriff, was our high seller in last year’s bull sale to Lorne Lakusta of Spruceview Charolais, AB. Testimonial

“We have purchased numerous bulls and females from Tri-N Charolais over the past few years (all sight unseen). Merv and Jesse are both great to work with. They truly know about their cattle and were able to help us find exactly what we wanted. The cows we have purchased have had great udders with good milk supply. They have strong maternal instincts, and they have raised good calves. The bulls we have purchased have sired calves with good growth and performance with calving ease. We would definitely buy again!”

What more can we say about the job Yangster has done in our program over the years? Here’s a bull that clawed his way to the top from starting in our commercial herd to becoming our predominant herd sire in our last 3 bull sales. Yangster sired the high selling bulls the last 2/3 years. We used him on predominately red factor cows. Why? He never threw a broken colored calf! Yangster sons are “peas in a pod” and carry his extreme depth of body, performance and eye appeal. They are born moderate and they grow! We are using predominately Yangster sons in our commercial herd at the moment. Rarely has a bull made such an impact in our herd. Here on our farm we raise calves for backgrounding, so they must have the EPD to calve easy, wean, and gain hard. Tri-N genetics have done this for us and the animals are fitting well into our herd. “Adding the Red Factor Charolais to our Red Angus based herd has increased the vigor and growth of our calf crops without giving up calving ease. These calves come out sleek and long bodied and they don't lay around to die. By the time you get the tag written out they are up and sucking. We have been very satistfied with Merv’s and Jesse's bulls, as they are sound footed and good breeders. They also have very quiet dispostions and are always easy to work with.”

Testimonial

“We have had great luck with Xplorer in our herd. 17 heifers and cows bred – 17 live calves. They are all born small and have lots of vigor and hair. I would definitely use him again!”

Tri-N Charolais & Guest 23 2nd Annual Bull Sale

It is our pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2nd Annual Tri-N Charolias Farms & Guest Bull Sale. We would like to take this time to thank Merv Nykoliation and family for letting us co-sign another strong group of Black Angus Bulls to the sale. Our family has been in the cattle business for over 15 years with a commercial Black Angus herd. Over the years, we have been acquiring groups of Purebred Black Angus Females from some very well respected Angus breeders. Our Goal is to raise low birth weight, high performance, functional purebred seed stock that the commercial cattlemen demand. And in doing so, we have attained a solid purebred Angus herd of 40 females, with another 60 commercial cows as well. We hold our purebred cows to the same standards as our commercial herd. We look for trouble free, functional females; females that can take care of themselves out on pasture, or when bale grazing in the winter, and we expect these females to perform. We also seek out cows that have excellent structure, with a solid foot udder them, and also those good maternal traits like mothering ability, and picture perfect udders. We calve in April/May and have started to sell two year old bulls. We feel that selling two year old bulls is an advantage for us and our customers, because they can expect these bulls are going to go out and breed a lot of cows, and not go downhill. These bulls are weaned at end of December and go onto a hay and straight oat ration where they are meant to grow. Then these bulls go out onto pasture to graze all summer long and come back in the fall where they are put back on an oat based ration. These bulls are meant to last a long time, and we feel our customers will be more than satisfied in purchasing two year old bulls. The bulls we have on offer this year are all exceptional herd sire prospects, with low birth weights and performance behind them. Riding Mountain, MB If you have any Questions about our offerings, please feel free to call or stop in any time for a visit. We Brad & Antonia Ginter • 204-967-2721 look forward to seeing you come sale day! Matthew Ginter • 204-721-4805
