The Ministry of Tourism has launched a large outdoor advertising campaign in Germany with billboards and digital screens, supported by the Office of Tourism Promotion (Oficina de Promoción Turística OPT). The same campaign is carried out in the main streets, train stations, bus and metro stations in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In Germany this was done in cooperation with Air Berlin in Dusseldorf, where Puerto Plata is advertised, Air Europa is advertising Santo Domingo in Frankfurt. Euro Wings, subsidiary of the German state-owned company Lufthansa, flies to Puerto Plata once a week since November for the first time, three flights a week to go to Punta Cana. Also in Munich, Puerto Plata is advertised as a winter destination 2015/ 2016. Through this promotion, seven million people in Austria and Switzerland are addressed per week. In Salzburg, 60 movable panels were set up, to be seen by one and a half million people. This campaign has been awarded the most sympathetic of this Austrian city. According to ODT, this promotion is carried out with great success every year.
For the third time, the Dominican Republic was awarded by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) as the “Golf Destination of the Year” in Latin America and the Caribbean. According to a study, more than 140,000 guests are visiting the country each year, only to play golf. There are 28 golf courses that meet the highest standards. The golf tourism contributes with 200 million dollars to the Dominican economy annually, a figure that is expected to increase in 2016, according to a recent study by IAGTO North America. According to the Tourist Association ODT, the Dominican Republic has some of the most spectacular and dramatic golf courses worldwide.
“End the War on Drugs!” Casa Abierta urges end to the Persecution of Drug Addicts / “Deaf, blind and dumb” After the Supreme Court in Mexico has ruled that personal freedom stands above health effects, and thus allowed marijuana for “recreational” purposes, now the chairman of “Casa Abierta”, the psychologist Juan Raddamés de la Rosa Hidalgo, calls to end the war against drugs in the Dominican Republic. “Casa Abierta” (Open House) is a non-governmental organization that was founded in 1974 and has the aim to help prevent drug abuse through a healthy lifestyle. In an open letter de la Rosa Hidalgo writes, the Supreme Court in Mexico showed a pattern of intelligence and respect for human dignity with this sentence at a subject that was taboo for the courts until recently: the recreational use of cannabis. According to de la Rosa Hidalgo, the war on drugs, which is determined by corruption in the Dominican Republic, should never have taken place. He criticized the fact that in the Dominican Republic people who use drugs continue to be criminalized, with the result that they will become easy prey of corruption and
blackmail when they are detained with illegal drugs. “What happens? The truth is that in our country a mediocre, corrupt, inhumane policy will be continued, which is violating human rights,. With their backs to what is happening around us, those who govern us seem not to understand the problem or they just do not care. Our authorities remain deaf, blind and dumb against the change in drug policy,” writes de la Rosa Hidalgo. In the opinion of “Casa Abierta”, the international war on drugs has created more problems than it has solved. “This unjust, ultra repressive model, which violates
human rights, was the preferred form to tackle the complex problem of drugs in the Americas. It committed countless abuses. Terrible human rights violations in the name of security are the legacy of this policy.” “Today we will begin to dismantle this so much failed and abusive model. Today the debate is moving towards regulation rather than prohibition.” Everything that has been done so far only exacerbated the drug problem. “Casa Abierta” stresses that the simple persecution is an absurd policy, based on myths and stereotypes that have been created by the ultra-conservative circles. The vast majority of consumers do not need treatment. Only one percent of them have a problematic use. Although this is proved, the drug policy was oriented to myths for many years. De la Rosa points out that the debate now also was opened in Costa Rica. Cannabis has been decriminalized in Jamaica this year. Since 1974, marijuana consumers are no longer persecuted in Uruguay, the same happens in Colombia.
Justice System in Crisis Prosecution accuses Judges for Corruption / 70 Percent of Officials deny Declaration
After accusations of the prosecution, that there is a ring of corrupt judges who acquitted defendants accused of drug trafficking and money laundering, the Dominican justice system is in a deep crisis. Attorney General Francisco Domínguez Brito accuses the former member of the Judicial Council, Francisco Arias Valera, to be the head of a circle of corrupt judges who free criminals against cash payments. For the first time a total of six judges were named publicly, including the accusations against them.
The Attorney General called the case of the City Council of Pedro Brand, Erinson "Ney" de Santos Solís particularly serious, because the judge Awilda Reyes (photo) received money from him and released him. De Santos Solís is accused to be the head of a group of assassins and boss of the retail of drugs in the area. In August, Awilda Reyes ordered that 20 million dollars that have been seized before, have to be repaid to the Prado Universal Corp., owner of Torre Atiemar, a building that belongs to the convicted Spanish drug trafficker Arturo del Tiempo Marqués. The presidential candidate of Alianza País, Guillermo Moreno, in this context called for an in-depth investigation of the entire Dominican justice system, including Attorney General Domínguez Brito, because he does not want to appeal any more against the archiving of the case of the Senator of San Juan de la Maguana, Félix Bautista. Likewise, the judges who passed this scandalous sentence, must be examined.
The head of the Audit Office, Licelot Marte de Barrios, announced at a press conference that from 3,139 functionaries there are still 2,185 who have not yet submitted their affidavit of assets. Of the 954 submitted declarations, only 431 were handed in in the legally prescribed period, the rest came later and after an extension of the sub-mission date. Licelot Marte de Barrios lamented that up to now there was not a single case of an official prosecuted for breaking this law (Law 311-14). The law serves to reveal cases of corruption and illegal enrichment of functionaries during their term of office. In the declaration there also have to be specified the assets of the spouse.
World Toilet Day One Billion People have no Toilet / Millennium Development Goal with poor Outcome November 19 has been declared World Toilet Day by the World Toilet Organization in 2001. In 2013, the United Nations (UN) passed a resolution recognizing World Toilet Day as an official UN International Day. Background is the lack of adequate hygienic sanitation facilities for more than 40 percent of the world population, with all the problems for health and socio-economic consequences, particularly caused through attributable diseases.
The World Toilet Day wants to galvanize those responsible in politics and business. It wants to break taboos, instead of continuing to repress that the toilet problem is not solved for a large part of humanity. Around one billion people in the world are without an access to a toilet, 2.4 billion are not connected to a sewerage system. “Sanitation is the key to human health and the environment, as well as for individual opportunities, development and dignity,” UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon said in his message. This time, the UN has decided to focus their message on the need to end the “vicious circle” that connects the bad sewage system with diseases. “Poor sanitation and hygiene are central to disease and malnutrition,” said Ban, who noted that there are “too many children” have their lives ended or change “forever” as a result of this problem. Every year, 800,000 children are dying worldwide, one every two minutes, from the effects of diarrhea caused by deficient hygiene.
Ban underlined that despite all efforts, the progress in this area was “much too limited and too slow”, and that the sanitation, according to many indicators, was the Millennium Development Goal with the worst results. As a consequence, the United Nations launched an initiative in 2013, with the aim to end the “call of nature” in the open air before the year 2025. “Through collaboration and an open and honest discussion about the importance of toilets and sanitary facilities, we can improve the health and well-being of one third of humanity,” Ban Ki-moon said. In addition to the health problem, the United Nations warn, that the practice of necessities in a public place are an additional risk for girls and women. For the lack of privacy, the risk of being raped and sexually abused was increasing.

Ricky Martin Against Human Trafficking The 23-year-old Colombian producer and DJ Ali Stone assured, as a woman and Latina she must work hard in the man's world of electronic music, so that her talent is recognized. Despite her success, she still had to “prove” her talent to the men. Many of her male colleagues think that women in this industry are only models that do this, because it is “fashion”. Ali Stone who studied administration and management in the Universidad de los Andes in her hometown Bogotá, has already participated in many international festivals of electronic music, from Thailand to Romania. She is the youngest DJ who wrote a soundtrack for a movie, and she also contributed a track for the Disney film “Monsters University”. Ali Stone says she does not want to commit herself to only one style, but to “move” in all genres of electronic tunes. So her musical idols are not only icons of electronic music, such as Madeon, but also AC/DC or Metallica. But in the plans of her future productions Ali Stone also wants to incorporate elements of pop music that she heard when she was a little girl, like Abba, Ace of Base or the Spice Girls.
The Ricky Martin Foundation inaugurated a pavilion in the Puerto Rican capital San Juan, a gazebo, where the population will be informed on the problem of human trafficking. According to the Foundation, 30 million people are victims of traffickers worldwide who earn around 150 billion dollars annually. These illegal revenues are surpassed only by drug trafficking. In the presented study is said that at the border of the United States each year 800,000 people are victims of human trafficking, half of whom are children.
Benny Sadel was one of the stars of the Golden Era of Merengue in the eighties. Emmanuel Félix González, his real name, was taping three new songs in September with colleagues for an album that should be released in January. Then a rare type of leukemia was found, of which he died within a very short time at the age of 55 years on the 5th of November. Benny Sadel lived in the United States for many years, but was buried with heartfelt sympathy in his native town Tamayo in the province of Bahoruco.
Adriana Campos Star of Telenovelas crashed Adriana Campos, a star of Colombian telenovelas, died in a car accident in the province of Antioquia on the 3rd of November along with her partner, with whom she has a one year old son. The son was not in the car. Adriana played roles in “El Zorro” or “Bellas Calamidades”.

One version of the origin of the word “Bistro” is coming from the Russian where it means “fast”. It is said that Russian soldiers during the Napoleonic Wars demanded fast food of the French civilians with the word “Bistro”. It is also regionalism from Paris where traditionally the Bistro was a popular place, a tavern that served mainly traditional dishes such as wine and fresh and healthy food without having any specific style. In the twentieth century with the growth of tourism the “Bistro” became a landmark of the Parisian lifestyle.
The Menu Ocean World Bistro is a new concept of dining with a touch of elegance and simplicity, offering an exquisite menu with different options to choose from, complemented with an excellent selection of national and international drinks. What is this Guy singing? “Le hace falta un beso” by Pakolé The singer Pakole changed from Merengue to Salsa. The presented new hit shows that his decision was not wrong. He works a lot that she does not lack of anything. In her love nest she expects him with love. Sometimes he forgets important dates. The invoices do not wait and he is always very responsible. But she feels that love becomes extinct and that something is ending. The passion has grown cold. And she wants to tell him, she wants to tell him, that she misses a kiss, that he brings her a rose. That he makes her feel like in the time when she was his girlfriend. That he is doing gestures to her, that he speaks of love. Because he knows well how to win her heart. That she misses a kiss, that he brings her a rose. She dreams that butterflies return to her belly. She has cold in her heart. She is missing a kiss. She is missing love. But she feels, that love becomes extinct and that something is ending. The passion has grown cold. And she wants to tell him, she wants to tell him, that she misses a kiss, that he brings her a rose. Elvin Martínez Ramírez played in the Merengue Band at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo at the beginning of his career. Later he transfered to the band Tambó of Dioni Fernández. In 2013, Pakole, the artist name of Martínez Ramirez, decided to play Salsa. “I will not abandon Merengue, because it's a part of me, but now I want to put up my flag for Salsa”, Pakole said. And he does it with great success. Already “Paz en la cama” was well received by the audience, but the presented song “Le hace falta un beso” is currently one of the most played Salsas in the country. Pakole is performing in many programs in order to push his career, and he was already on several tours in the USA, where he primarily lived between 1997 and 2006, and in Europe. Like many of the new Salsa stars, also Pakole is remastering the hits of others. So “Le hace falta un beso” comes from the Mexican band El Chapo de Sinaloa (august 2013), “Paz en la cama” (2012) is originally sung by the Brazilian duo Leandro e Leandro.

In a court of a small town in the southern United States the applicant's lawyer calls the first witness to the witness stand. It is an older, grandmotherly woman. He goes up to her and asks her: “Mrs. Jones, do you know me?” She replies, “Yes, I know you, Mr. Williams. I know you since you were a little boy, and frankly, you have disappointed me. You lie, you cheat your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot, but in reality you are not capable to much more than to move a couple of sheets of paper. Yes I know you.” The lawyer is speechless and goes back and forth a few steps in the courtroom. Then he asks the witness, “Mrs. Jones, do you also know the defense attorney?” She replies, “Yes, I also know Mr. Bradley since he was a young man. He is lazy, is always acting as if he was devout man, yet he has a drinking problem. He can not show a normal behavior to anyone and his law firm is the worst in the whole province. Not to mention that he is cheating on his wife with three other women, one of them is yours. Yes, I know him.” Thereupon the judge calls the two lawyers to the judge's table and tells them in a low but threatening voice, “Be sure that if any of you two idiots will now ask this old witch if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair!”
