First Euphoria evaporated Less Interest in Excursions among “Fantasy” Passengers / Displaced Squatters protest After the euphoria at the arrival of the first cruise ship “Victory”, there was the first disillusionment after the arrival of Carnival “Fantasy” (photo). First, “Fantasy” was significantly smaller with 70,000 tons and a capacity of 2,050 passengers than “Victory” (102,000 tons, 2,700 passengers), and secondly, it happened what some feared. The passengers remained in the port area rather than exploring the surroundings by
Commentary on the new Center Pages and other Things With the arrival of the first cruise ship in “Amber Cove” in Maimón on October 6, a new era on the Dominican north coast has begun. LA PLAYA has succeeded to make an agreement with the taxi drivers of the harbor that each vehicle of Taxi Amber Cove will have some copies of the magazine on board and hands them over to the guests of the ship. As to be expected, this led to unevitable comments of the notorious doomsayers: “Ha, ha, ha, do you really think that a single tourist of the ships will buy anything because he sees an advertisement in LA PLAYA?” I have no idea. But what I know from more than six years of experience, is that LA PLAYA is very well received by the tourists and many of them take a copy home. For example, the owner of OK Motors who advertised for years, said that sometimes new customers came to his car rental who held a month-old LA PLAYA in their hand which they took in their last holiday. This shows the immense advantage of a printed product over the Internet: it is sustainable. An advertisement sometimes does not work immediately, but it can have the desired effect months after. It is not unreasonable to suppose that one or the other of the short-term visitors will take LA PLAYA home, and in his next holidays, this time maybe two or three weeks, will resort to an ad or an article from LA PLAYA. Maybe he is even planning to purchase a property and sees
or remembers an advertising real estate company in LA PLAYA. LA PLAYA seizes the opportunity offered by the new and numerous tourists to venture a “restart” of the magazine. This includes not only additional topic pages, for example, but also a newly designed website with the help of a professional graphic designer, as well as the new colored center pages presenting a particular subject or company. Such as the “Amber Gallery Museum” in Puerto Plata in this issue, not to be confused with the Amber Museum of Puerto Plata. Orlando Henríquez, the owner of this gift shop with an attached small, but very interesting and well-kept museum, does not need any advertising in LA PLAYA because he daily receives busloads of guests. But he knows LA PLAYA for years and knows the positive reaction of his visitors. Therefore, no great persuasion was needed, to convince him to sponsor the two center pages. His idea is to hand over a LA PLAYA magazine as a bonus for his customers so that they are reminded of his business when they are back home. The center pages of La Playa would be a good opportunity for local businesses or associations in Cabarete and Sosúa, which are not really flooded with bus tours, to call at least some attention of taxi tourists and maybe to participate in the coming The editor boom this way.
bus and taxi. Taxis complained of a lack of demand. The complaints from businesses in Puerto Plata continued that some of them are apparently boycotted, while others get “fed” with tourists. According to unconfirmed rumors, the evaluation by Carnival on the opinion of the tourists of the first cruise ship “Victory” about their journey was very positive. As a result, two further cruise-enterprises are said to have shown interest to include the port “Amber Cove” in Maimón into their routes. On the other hand, the spending of the guests ashore, which was estimated at 100 to 120 dollars per capita by the Minister of Tourism, was only at about 50 dollars per visitor.
Some of the displaced squatters from Maggiolo now settled with their remains on the roadside close to the entrance to Cofresí, coming from Maimón. They have installed signs, with which they are protesting against the eviction. While on normal days there are only few people, at the arrival of “Fantasy” on October 15, dozens of protesters with posters were standing beside the road. One of their supporters seems to be the “Committee for a Port in Puerto Plata” (CPPPP), which was against the port in Maimón.

Minou Presidential Candidate No Opinion Polls / Acquittal for Marcos Martínez / No Court Case against Félix Bautista Minou Tavárez Mirabal was elected to be the official candidate of the coalition Alianza por la Democracia (Alliance for Democracy APD) and her own party Opción Democrática (Democratic Option - OD) in the presidential elections next May. She thus has the theoretical chance to become the first female president of the Dominican Republic. The deputy of the National District is confident that the popularity of President Danilo Medina has declined in recent months by around 15 percent and was currently at about 50 percent, while the approval of the opposition candidates was growing constantly. Therefore, the government would not do any opinion polls at the moment. Minou demanded equitable and fair elections in May and accused the ruling party PLD, that it was already campaigning illegally, using vehicles and financial resources of the state.
Marcos Martínez, lawyer and former television anchorman, claimed in his TV program “Diario 55” on the 15th of February 2012, the then Primera Dama and current Vice President Margarita Cedeño de Fernández had an account of 43 million dollars at the Danske Bank in Copenhagen. The PLD accused Marcos Martínez to operate a dirty campaign on behalf of expresident Hipólito Mejía. The wife of former President Leonel Fernández showed a letter of the Danske Bank in Stockholm, that there did not exist an account on her name there and sued Martínez for defamation, libel and falsification of documents. Martínez lost his job at the television and had to pay 800,000 pesos bail to stay out of prison. But he never withdrew his accusations. Now he was acquitted for lack of evidence. Vice president Margarita Cedeño de Fernández called Marco Martinez' release, “a stab against decency and integrity”. (Sources: Listin Diario, Hoy, Z101, Acento, a.o.)
Félix Bautista, Senator of San Juan province and close confidant of former President Leonel Fernández, was accused by the prosecution of illicit enrichment, money laundering, forgery of public and private documents, tax evasion and the connection to lawbreakers. The PLD senator is seen as an outstanding example by a vast majority of the Dominican population that corruption is governing the country and that the offenders do not have to fear any consequences. The prosecution tried to prove these delicts of Félix Bautista, but the judges found that the evidence was not sufficient. After an appeal against that judgment, now came the final verdict that the case will be shelved.
Plantains have to be imported Maximum Prices for Staple Foods due to the unending Drought / Decline in Production
Plantains are a staple of the Dominican population. Due to the unending drought in the country, there is now a shortage of this food. In some supermarkets have do be paid up to 30 pesos per plantain. The Dominican population is consuming six million plantains (plátanos) daily, not to be confused with the bananas (guineos). In addition, the Dominican Republic is the leader in the cultivation and export of organic bananas, which brings a revenue of more than 200 million dollars every year. Bananas therefore are the most important food that is exported.
In order to counter speculation, the government now allowed importing plantains for a limited period. The plantain growers of the National Federation of Agricultural Producers (CONFENAGRO), in principle, agree with this decision, but warn of diseases that can be imported. Organizations, such as Pro Consumidor, advised the consumers to eat other foods, such as potatoes, which meanwhile led to a decline in the prices for plantains. Eric Rivero, the president of the organization, said that imports may involve risks and are sending a bad signal for the country. He would have preferred if previously something would have been done against the consequences of the drought and if there was a better plan. Rivero also demanded that imports may be authorized only from countries where there are no diseases such as the “Panama disease” or the “leaf spot disease” in order to prevent their spread here. “Sigatoka” is a fungus that contracts the banana leaves with black spots and left untreated it can destroy up to 50 percent of the harvest.
The situation of banana growers in the provinces of Barahona, Bahoruco and Independencia in the southwest of the Republic, where banana plantations of 300,000 tareas (nearly 47,000 acres) are affected by the drought, is getting more and more desperate. Due to the lack of water many of them are able to produce only ten percent of their capacity. The price for a cargo of bananas, which corresponds to 200 pieces, now is between 2,400 and 2,800 pesos. Last year it was at 1,600. What the drought did not destroy, tropical storm “Erika” completed end of August by overturning thousands of banana plants. The water shortage in the region is exacerbated by the fact that the walls of the Sabana Yegua dam were heightened, resulting in less water flowing. In addition, the tomato growers of Azua are demanding more water, which is missing for the banana producers. The water pumps don't work during the day, for lack of electricity, and in the “dark” season, which is beginning now, the bananas grow more slowly as they need 13 hours of daylight for optimum growth.
“Onion Wages” at the Police Only 16 Pesos hourly Wage / Demand for Police Reform
Policeman Daurín Muñoz caused a big scandal with his complaint on the Internet about the “onion wages” of the police, which make you cry when you look at them.
Dressed in his police uniform, Muñoz calculated that a police officer with a lower rank has a monthly salary of 5,800 pesos, which corresponds to a daily wage of 193 pesos or an hourly wage of 16 pesos. In his case, he paid 3,000 pesos for rent, because he lives alone, 600 pesos for his son's school fees, 1,100 pesos for milk powder, that does not even last 15 days, and with the remaining 1,100 pesos he buys pasta, potatoes and biscuits in the Colmado, which is his daily food. He complained that since the founding of the National Police there were 18 presidents in office, of which not a single one was interested in higher salary or better living conditions for police officers. Muñoz complained that subordinates would be mistreated by their superiors and that the spirit of the tyrant Rafael Leónidas Trujillo lives on in every police station and in every superior. The bad reputation of the police will not improve if you called corrupt members “putrid tayotas”, but a police reform was necessary and the wages of police officers have to be increased. For an hourly wage of 16 pesos police officers daily risked their lives in the streets. In response to this video, Daurín Muñoz was arrested, but meanwhile does his normal service again. Police spokesman Máximo Báez Aybar said that currently was investigated what degree of misconduct the policeman has committed and what punishment he will get for this. “We want to make it clear, without wanting to make us charismatic or popular, that there are guidelines which a member of the police has to follow, and we must be categorical in this sense.”

Your Horoscope for November 2015 Opponents might mislead Scorpio / Taurus at a Crossroad / Interesting Month for Leo
You can be confident that you will have a good chance to finish all of the latest projects in time. Take a break now and reach a position to gather information and to save resources. You will have a lot of problems in the future, think about that today. Save energy and resources, that way you can quickly resolve a problem that will appear. Be attentive to others, but do not allow them to cling on you too closely.
Do not grab the stars from the sky, think wisely and consistently. Arrange your plans on a line and move from one checkpoint to another. If necessary, sometimes it is worth to slow down, especially by passing by negative circumstances. In relationships with colleagues, be collected, do not descend to familiarity and do not allow it in respect of yourself. But if there is a reliable, strong base, then why not experiment a little?
This month will be uniquely rich in all sorts of problems and misunderstandings. Be ready, because the problems will begin to pile up from the first days of the month. Special attention should be paid to technical aspects, because it is here that life is most likely to cause large-scale problems. Do not give up in the fight against the situation. Another important point - do not be fooled by any promises of quick gains!
You realize that you are standing at a crossroad and among the options available there is definitely a positive one. A peculiar choice of the “lesser evil” will shake your financial situation. Do not sign any documents, no matter what they are. All contracts and official events are best moved to the next month. Listen to the views of colleagues, partners and mentors, but proceed according to your own settings.
Your life will not be the most successful one right now. However, you will obviously succeed in the little things. This means that the resolutions for truly large-scale problems are worth being postponed to a later date. You now want to concentrate your attention on the small, small problems that you can solve in large quantities. Therefore, you will not even notice how the world around you will change.
This month you will be faced with a minimal number of problems. It is a neutral, and one might even say - a harmonious time, when all existing trends will have their logical continuation. In general, you can count on stability. Do not plan for important events this month, because they will fail or give the result opposite to what was intended. Do not even think about signing important contracts or long-term agreements.
This month can become quite an interesting month. It can turn up to be memorable and dynamic, though not all positive. Be careful in the relationship with your partner, harmony can easily be replaced by a fierce opposition at this time, and if that happens, you will have a very little chance of doing anything to fix it. There is no need to act swiftly now, although sometimes the problem may not seem resolvable. Act wisely.
All of your current projects will find their logical conclusion, but the level of implementation will be frankly far from complete failure, but clearly not what you were going for. You can be sure of one thing - you have nothing to lose. Of course, that is if you make the right decisions, because all around you your opponents and implicit rivals will be just waiting for a reason to strike you in the back. Do not give them that chance!
Do not place your bets on new found opportunities, because due to the overall negative energy background, you will often make mistakes. So you will have to combine intuitive action with quality, cold calculation. Slow your operating speed and forget about your own ambitions. You may well act on previously laid plans, gradually realize your current projects, but be prepared for the fact that the result may disappoint you.
Do not take decisions that are not sure of. Now opponents will very easy mislead you, so resort to the help of colleagues and old allies. To ask for support in difficult times is not shameful. So do not be too picky in choosing friends, and in any case do not become conceited, no matter what successes you reach. Be cool and collected, You may pass a tough time, despite all of the potentially possible victories.
You will have a difficult and an ambiguous time. You should not plan official meetings for this month. The signing of agreements and contracts may well turn unpredictable, but clearly - with negative consequences. So at this point you need to behave a little less actively. Be careful with the choice of allies, because most people pursue selfish ends and cover it up with hypocritical friendliness. Judge not by words but by their deeds.
This is not the most successful month for tyou. You will probably need all your will, all your vital resources to overcome the circumstances and to at least maintain your current status. Aim to complete all of your current projects at any cost and do not leave them “for later”, otherwise you will no longer be able to return to them. Any event must find its end as soon as possible and any problem should be solved on the spot.
Immigration to the Dominican Republic Regulations for Residents and Non-Residents / Special Arrangements for Investors The laws that regulate immigration in the Dominican Republic are: the General Immigration Law No. 285-04 and its implementing regulations No. 631-11. The first law directs and regulates immigration flows on the national territory, both with regard to the entry as to the stay and the departure, as the immigration, emigration and the return of nationals, while the regulation 63111 is ensuring the implementation of the general immigration law no. 285-04. In this article we want to present the main themes of this legislation and the processes which you can take to become a legal Dominican resident. Ways to enter the Dominican Republic: There are two categories for the foreigners who come to our country. Residents or nonresidents. Residents are those foreigners who come to the Dominican Republic and will be staying for a long time here and who have obtained a permit to reside in the country. Non-residents are those foreigners who reside in the country for a short time as a tourist or to do business. What are the conditions for a foreigner to enter the Dominican Republic for one of the two reasons? For non-resident aliens there are two modes, depending on their country of origin. In the first case they need to purchase a “tarjeta de turismo” (tourist
card) when the foreign national is a citizen of a country with immigration agreements with the Dominican Republic, such as citizens of the European Union or the United States. In a second case there are the foreigners who need a visa issued by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic, which must be granted prior to travel to the Dominican Republic. This case is for citizens of countries that do not have immigration agreements with the Dominican Republic. In both cases the permissions to stay are valid for a period of three months, and after this time the foreign citizen must leave the country or otherwise he is staying illegally. Foreign citizens who want to apply for their “residencia” (residence) should enter our country with a visa for residence, and once in the Dominican Republic apply for the residence in compliance with certain requirements. The process involves two steps: first, the foreign citizen must obtain a temporary residence and then apply for a residence. There are some cases where a foreigner can directly apply for permanent residence. In this category we find investors who invest a minimum of 200,000 US dollars in local businesses, such as a free zone (zona franca) or other legal businesses. Also foreign retirees with an income of at least 1,500 US dollars plus an additional 250 dollars for each dependent can apply for a permanent residence.
Then there are the foreigners who have an income of at least 2,000 dollars a month for at least five years due to their investment, which they have to prove. And another case is that of foreigners with family ties to Dominican nationals or to foreigners with permanent residence in the Dominican Republic, such as spouses or children. The advantages of the residence in the Dominican Republic is to obtain an identity card (cédula) that shows the legal status in our country and which allows advantages such as better tax rates, among others. Finally, there are prohibitions for a foreigner to apply for a residence. This is the case for people who suffer from diseases that threaten public health, of a specific mental illness, when they had been convicted for crimes such as drug trafficking or human trafficking among others, and foreigners who have been deported previously. In one of the next issues we will be dealing with the expedited investor's residence, naturalization and how to obtain the citizenship of the Dominican Republic. Tribute to Celia Cruz
at the Frankfurt Book Fair
Latin American Music Awards
Fernando Echavarría Idol of Caribbean Music
The Chilean writer Isabel Allende is one of the most read authors in Germany. At the forum “The Blue Sofa”, one of the most important of the Frankfurt Book Fair, all of the seats were occupied already one hour before the performance of Isabel Allende. Allende came to present her new novel “The Japanese Lover”. The first questions from the audience revolved around the story of the novel - a woman of Jewish-Polish origin in her eighties who was able to escape from the Holocaust, because her parents sent her to the United States, where she had a secret romance with a Japanese gardener. But the fate of the protagonist quickly changed to the currently most oppressive theme of Europe, the refugee crisis. Isabel Allende, who herself had fled from Chile during the dictatorship of Pinochet, said: “My situation was totally different. I always have been a privileged person, and although I had to leave my country, I could do that on a plane and could go to a place where I was able to continue my life.” The situation of refugees who come to Europe today, are in total despair. “No one leaves his country without reason, risking his life,” she said.
The Dominican musician Fernando Echavarría died backstage on the 10 th of October from a heart attack, shortly before an appearance. The 62-year-old was the founder and director of Familia André, with whom he created a new genre, the “Fusón” which became very popular especially in Colombia. There Fernando Echavarría was awarded the 2006 Premio Luna as an “icon of Caribbean music”. Echavarría was the foreign artist with the greatest impact on the Colombian music in the last 20 years. Echavarría explained the Fusón, a mix of Afro-Antillean music, combined with Cumbia and influences of Jazz and Rock, based on Merengue and Son, like this: “It's a mix of Merengue and Son. In the Merengue there are no bongos and in the Son there is no güira, but the focus of Fusón is on the guitar.” Journalist Martin Ley wrote about Fernando Echavarría: “He was the one who changed the format of Dominican music, which otherwise did not go past the schema of the Merengue. He was the first to merge the music, who included guitars and synthesizers to achieve better harmony. This inspired other musicians such as Chichí Peralta or even Juan Luis Guerra, who took him as a reference. Fernando parted the history of Dominican music in a before and an after.” In recent years, Fernando Echavarría mainly lived and worked in Miami before some time ago he started to return to his home land, the Dominican Republic.
The musical legacy of Celia Cruz was honoured at a glamorous ceremony at the completion of the Latin American Music Awards 2015 in the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. In a medley, India, Maluma, Yuri, Aymée Nuviola and producer Sergio George, along with the cast of the new telenovela “Celia”, Jamie Osorio and Modesto Lacén, honoured the Salsa legend who died on the 16th of May 2003. “Celia was my godmother, my teacher, my best friend. She was a mother to me, and she christened me,” said the Salsa singer India. The Latin American Music Awards opened with a performance by Daddy Yankee and his hit “Sígueme y te sigo” (LA PLAYA 151). The big winner once again was Enrique Iglesias, who got the awards in all five categories in which it was nominated, including the Artist of the Year. The Colombian J. Balvin (LA PLAYA 142) was awarded the New Artist of the Year. Daddy Yankee received two awards, including for his aforementioned hit. Nicky Jam, son of a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father (LA PLAYA 140), got three awards together with Enrique Iglesias for the song “El perdón”.
What is this Woman singing? “¿Qué tiene ella?” by Milly Quezada The Queen of Merengue, Milly Quezada, is celebrating her 30-year career with her latest album “Aquí estoy yo”.
Sit down there. Listen to me. What does she have what I don't have? In her company you forgot the watch that I bought you for our anniversary and which you never forgot before. What does she have what I don't have? Show me my mistakes and there will be a solution. When it comes to me, I want to see the error. Or tell me, if it is only love for a while. The perfume on your clothes, this and many things I notice on you and they have betrayed you. Your tiredness when we go to sleep, and to feel that my little mimes don't trigger anything in you. Someone is stealing you and you can not dissimulate it. And the worst is that I know, it is my friend who kisses me and greets with a smile. Who also wants to eat my husband. Who also wants to steal what is mine. She wants to put on my shoes and clothes, because she's jealous how happy I am with you. She bewitched you with the venom of her tongue. The mentally ill is a sick, who defames me talking bad behind my back. To steal your heart she plays the saint. What does she have what I don't have? I will fight for you. I declare war on her. What does she have what I don't have? On this occasion, I have learned a saying: Why do I need enemies when I have them in my house pretending they were my friend. Who also wants to steal what is mine ... I will fight for you. I declare war on her.
Milagros Quezada Borbon was born in Santo Domingo on the 21st of May 1955. In her youth, her family emigrated to New York, where she founded the merengue group Milly, Jocelyn y los Vecinos in 1975, along with her four brothers. From the beginning, she made it clear that she wants to break out of the scheme and developed her own style, against the usual macho behavior in this music. As Milly y los Vecinos she had great success (“Volvió Juanita”) and was declared the Reina del Merengue (Queen of Merengue). In 1995, after her husband and manager Rafael Vázquez died, Milly made a musical break. In 1997, Milly Quezada signed at Sony and launched a solo career. She was awarded all the prices that are possible from the Latin Grammy to the Soberano up to the Premio Lo Nuestro. In 2006, Milly Quezada played in the movie “Juniol” for which she got a Casandra as Best Actress of the Year. With her latest album “Aquí estoy yo”, where the presented song can be found, she celebrates her 30-year career with stars such as Juan Luis Guerra or the Salseros Victor Manuelle and Tito Nieves.
A man who is not satisfied neither with his marriage nor in his job, one day wins the 10-million-euro jackpot in the lottery. He thinks to himself: “Well, I'll wait and see until the money really is booked in my account.” A week later, the ten million euros are in his account and he says to himself, “Tomorrow I will tell my boss what I think of him.” The next morning, he walks directly to the office of his boss. He just wants to tear open the door when it is opened from the inside. “Oh, good to have you here! I need to talk to you. You know, we have to save in personnel costs. Reluctantly I have to tell you that we have to dismiss you. Since you are with us for such a long time, we will pay you a severance indemnity.” He gets a check for 50,000 euros and is thinking, “Better shut your mouth and just take the money.” On the way home comes a thought: “I now have time and money. I'm going to buy my dream car.” When he enters the car dealership, firecrackers are popping and the entire staff of the dealership congratulates him, “You are customer number 100,000. You can choose whatever car you please, it's completely free!” He thinks to himself, “Well, this is great, then I'll keep my money and take the donated car.” At home, he pours himself a glass of champagne, lights a cigar and sits on the balcony. At this moment, he hears a squeak of tires and a deafening bang. He sees how his wife is hit by a car and thrown through the air. Taking a big sip of his champagne he thinks: “When fortune smiles, it really smiles!”

A golf pro dragged himself into the clubhouse looking as though he'd just escaped a tornado. “What's wrong?” a woman asked. “I just lost a game to Houlihan,” the pro said. “What? But Houlihan's the worst player I've ever seen. How could he have beaten you?” “He tricked me,” the pro said. “On the first tee, he asked for a handicap. I told him he could have 30, 40, 50 strokes - any handicap he wanted. He said, 'Just give me two gotchas'.” “What's a gotcha?” asked the woman. “That's what I wanted to know,” the pro said. “Houlihan said, 'You'll see.' Then, as I was teeing off, just as I had my club poised, he screamed out 'Gotcha!'” “I can guess what happened,” the woman said. “Sure,” the pro said. “The scream threw me off, and I missed the ball completely.” “Understandable,” the woman said. “But still, that's only one swing. How did he win the game?” The pro answered, “You try swinging at a golf ball all day while waiting for that second 'gotcha!'”

Opioid Analgesics International Drug Policy prevents Access to Painkillers / Obstacle for avoidable Pain More than 75 percent of the world's population have little or no access to opioid analgesics because of the international drug policy. The Global Commission on Drug Policy denounced this abuse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when it presented the study “The negative effects of drug control in public health: The global crisis of avoidable pain”. "More than 5.5 billion people have little or no access to opioid analgesics, especially
morphine, resulting in avoidable pain and suffering for people throughout the world”, according to the study. People with terminal cancer or terminal AIDS and birthing women who have to endure extreme pain are among the most affected groups. One of the main culprits of this condition is the prevailing policies that want to prevent the diversion of controlled substances to illicit purposes, and also intend to guarantee the access for medical and scientific purposes. To avoid that hundreds of millions of people are suffering of “unrelieved pain” due to the lack of access to controlled medications, the Commission gives ten tips. The first one is, it is most important to recognize that “the international system for drug control is an obstacle for the access to controlled medicines”. The tables of the drug treaties from 1961 to 1971 must be updated with the scientific evidence that were discovered after this time and there has to be given a “high priority for the treatment of physical and psychological pain, by securing the access to controlled medicines”. In places where these drugs are not available, “governments must ensure the necessary financing of an international program, which is watched over by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to secure the adequate access to controlled medicines”. Despite the great medical advances, the scientists still were not able to find a better remedy to severe pain than the known strong opiates.
In a world in which 92 percent of the globally available morphine was consumed by only 17 percent of the population, the Global Commission on Drug Policy puts its hope in the Special Meeting on Drugs of the General Assembly of the United Nations, which is scheduled for 2016. The effect of morphine, which like heroin is made from the opium poppy, is its high pain relief. Today there is hardly any production of morphine for the drug market, but morphine produced for medical use appears now and then in the drug scene. Morphine and other poppy-based medicines are primarily used in medicine for the treatment of pain. In the first place they are powerful painkillers, but have neither inflammatory nor antipyretic properties. Opioid analgesics do not cause any specific organ toxicity, unlike many other drugs, such as aspirin and paracetamol. The side effects of opioids include sedation, respiratory depression, constipation, and a strong sense of euphoria. Opioid dependence can develop with ongoing administration, leading to a withdrawal syndrome with abrupt discontinuation.
