Hope you’re not afraid of the dark: this year’s summer reading program revels in all the good things that are underground. Children’s Dig Into Reading and teen’s Ground Breaking Reads programs are in full swing at Poplar Bluff Public Library! Participants have chances to win a wide range of prizes, including three bikes, a Kindle Fire tablet and an animal adoption, by joining in on the fun and completing reading logs. Children’s Librarian Ashley Robertson will join host Brittney McKay to discuss the latest library happenings for adults, teens and kids. A new service is available to users of Poplar Bluff Municipal Library: You may receive notification of your arrived holds any time, anywhere via text message! This free service allows library users to stay up to date on their accounts and receive updates when items on hold are ready to be picked up; no more waiting around for phone calls or looking for e-mails in your inbox. Sign up for the text message service, Log on to, clicking on “My Account.” Enter your library card number or credential and password. From there, click the tab labeled “Notification Preferences.” Select box labeled “notify by text,” then enter your mobile number. Select your wireless carrier. Participation in the text messaging service is optional: The library will still e-mail or phone to notify you of holds should you prefer. Charges based on your cell phone’s text messaging plan may apply.

Attend this one-hour hands-on session at the Library to discover how to take full advantage of your Smartphone.
