Sunny Skies Kelli Mattison and Peter Linehan’s Naples nuptials were a happy day at the beach. By Ashley Huntsberry-Lett Photography by Audrey Snow

Ever since Kelli Mattison was a little girl, she dreamed of getting married on the beach. She met her fiancé, Peter Linehan, during her senior year at Indiana University in Bloomington. After graduation, the two moved to Manhattan, where Kelli became a professional buyer for Ross Stores and Peter pursued a career in bond sales. After dating for a few years, Peter decided to pop the question. He told Kelli his cousin was in town and staying at the Plaza Hotel, so they made plans to drop by. When they arrived, however, Kelli was surprised to find Peter had booked a suite for the night. In a perfectly romantic setting, he proposed that evening. When it came time to plan the wedding, they knew Naples was the perfect place. Peter’s parents are seasonal residents and members of the exclusive Port Royal Club, an elegant, entirely appropriate venue for a beach-themed wedding. “I loved the bamboo accents on the chairs and the light fixtures,” Kelli says of the venue. They tied in seamlessly with the theme she had in mind. 64

That evening, guests threw an impromptu pool party. They later attended a welcome soiree and rehearsal dinner at the home of Peter’s parents. On Saturday, Kelli’s dreams of an outdoor beach wedding were nearly dashed when it began raining in the afternoon. The vendors and the wedding coordinator, Blonde Events, were forced to set up everything inside. “We were so sad that we brought everyone all the way down to Florida to have an indoor wedding,” Kelli says. A miracle occurred, though, an hour before the ceremony when the skies cleared. All the coordinators scurried to relocate
