A local blogger dishes on home decor and ENTERTAINING

Naples is steeped in tradition, but history is only one facet of its dynamic personality. In 2014, Jennifer Adams decided to capture the contemporary spirit of the area and share it with readers everywhere on her blog, The New Naples. The 12-year Neapolitan highlights what makes the city shine, from happy hour hot spots to her favorite destinations for retail therapy. NI caught up with Adams to discuss her views on modern Naples, insider tips on home decor, and chic product suggestions that can be found in our own backyard. ( NI: What three words do you feel convey the vibe of today’s Naples? Adams: Picturesque, laid-back luxury. How would you describe your blog to someone who has never visited it? The New Naples is an online concierge and lifestyle guide that covers all things fresh and modern about Naples: where to eat, drink, go, stay, shop, and thrive. I feature all my favorite local

spots on the blog, but I also invite readers to email or message me directly for personalized recommendations, whether they are planning a vacation to the area or live here full-time. What makes Naples unique? There’s a ton of diversity in terms of things to do in Naples. You can Jet Ski through the mangroves in the morning and see a philharmonic orchestra performance that same evening.

Jennifer Adams’ recommendations clockwise from below: Tabletop accessories from Patina Collection; live-edge teak table from Sticks and Stones Collection; interior design by Mackenzie & Company.

What’s your favorite local shop for home decor? I have a few! I love Republic of Decor, Samantha Drew Interiors, and Summerfields in the Design District. Downtown, Patina Collection’s new shop is gorgeous, and Peach Tree Designs on Fifth Avenue South is a must as well. What’s one fun home accessory, that can be purchased locally, that you’re currently crushing on? The natural live-edge teak tables at Sticks and Stones Collection are absolutely amazing. They add the perfect touch of organic texture to a space. What style elements do you think really embrace the modern personality of Naples? Naples is swaying toward contemporary coastal, without being overtly beachy. Think clean lines, natural materials and textures, muted sea-inspired color palettes, and lots of natural light. Angela Hamwey, who owns the local interior design studio Mackenzie & Company, captures this style perfectly.
