First Aid and CPR for Adults 25th July 2011

Introduction: Performing First Aid, CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillation) at the scene of an emergency can increase the chance of a victim’s recovery and in some instances save a life. At some point in our lives we are all faced with the unexpected loss of a loved one, a medical crisis, or just our own mortality. This course is designed to give you the confidence to respond to life-threatening emergencies with the knowledge and skills that can save a life. The knowledge and life saving skills of First Aid ,CPR and AED that you learn today, can help you save a life anywhere, anytime when you least expected.

Course Objectives: By the end of the course participants should be able to properly provide First Aid & CPR to those who need it.

Course Outline: First Aid • Injury Assessment , Illness Assessment • Bleeding Control, Fractures • Sprains , Strains • Seizures, Heat/Cold Emergencies • Poisoning • Treatment of Burns, Shock Management CPR • Primary Assessment, Rescue Breathing • Obstructed Airway, Demonstrate CPR Skills on Mannequins • Correct Usage of the New CPR Masks

Target audience: Emergency Response Team members, Security personnel, Human Resources Personnel and Healthcare Providers e.g. School Teachers, Childcare Providers, Nurses and Medical Professionals, Parents and Students are encouraged to attend this course.

Course Facilitator: Dr. Abdul Ali is one of the founding Directors of the pioneer Academy of Paramedical Sciences at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences. He is a Clinical Emergency Medicine Specialist and formerly the Head and Chief Coordinator of Trauma & Emergency for over 10 years at the University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. He has over 22 years experience in developing and teaching the MBBS undergraduate Emergency Medicine Programme at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. He had also helped to develop various Advanced Trauma Resuscitation Courses, Disaster Management and EMS Programmes for various EMS Agencies in the country. He has contributed to books and journals and is a frequent presenter at many Universities, States, National and International EMS Conferences.

Course Fee: RM 300.00

Course Venue: CUCMS Main Campus.

Course Timing: Registration starts at 0830 hours and ends at 1700 hours. Lunch & refreshments will be provided.

Certificate of Attendance: A certificate will be given to you as evidence to your personal and professional developement.
