Pharmacy Assistant/Technician Workshop 7th - 9th February 2011

Introduction: Pharmacy Assistants help and support licensed pharmacists in providing health care to patients and the profession has become indispensable to the health care field. With the fast growing Pharmacy sector in Malaysia, job employment for Pharmacy Assistants has been seen to be growing steadily. Pharmacy Assistants must have a broad knowledge of pharmacy practices and must be skilled in the techniques required to order, stock, package, and prepare medications, but they don't need the advanced education required of a licensed Pharmacist. Pharmacy Assistant may perform many of the same duties as a pharmacist; however, all of their work must be checked by a Pharmacist before medication can be dispensed to a patient.

Course Objectives: By the end of the course participants should be able to; • Understand the laws that govern pharmacy • Interpret physician orders and prescriptions • Prepare and distribute medications • Define medical and pharmaceutical terms and common abbreviations • Understand the pharmacology of medications in relation to the anatomy affected • Perform pharmaceutical calculations • Communicate effectively with patients and medical professionals • Process insurance billing or collect payments

Target audience: Practicing Pharmacy Assistant/Technician, Store Assistant, Sales Assistant, Clinic Assistant

Course Facilitator: En. Ahmad Rashidi bin Mohamed Tahir is the Head of Pharmaceutics Department, Faculty of Pharmacy CUCMS. He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Pharmacy from UKM respectively. En. Rashidi started his career as a pharmacist at the Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah, Muar Johor. He is a registered Pharmacist with Pharmacy Board of Malaysia (RPh). Prior to joining CUCMS, he was a faculty member at the Masterskill University College of Health Sciences. Currently, he is one of the Coordinators for BPharm & MBBS, Disaster & Relief Medicine (DRM) and Young Mercy (YM).

Course Fee: RM 900.00

Course Venue: CUCMS Main Campus.

Course Timing: Registration starts at 0830 hours and ends at 1700 hours. Lunch & refreshments will be provided.

Certificate of Attendance: A certificate will be given to you as evidence to your personal and professional developement.
