The votes are in and Lucille (formerly Biscuit) is the winner of the Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) Cover Model contest! Lucille raised the most money for CARE, a non-profit in Wilmington, NC which is dedicated to helping animals in need. Lucille is one such animal. She was once a stray kitten with a severe eye injury who wandered up to a good Samaritan’s garage. Taken in by CARE, she received surgery and soon was back to purring and making ’biscuits’, hence her original name. Today, she has found her forever home. She plays all day with her three-legged feline brother Buster, and her canine siblings Dorothy and Blanche. She and her brother run the gauntlet playing in the upstairs of their house, as their human parents hear them carrying on. Says CARE, “Thank you to PawPrints Magazine and Michael Cline Photography for supporting the rescue animals of our region and allowing Lucille a chance to be in the spotlight.” To learn more about CARE, view their other animals up for adoption or to make a donation, please visit their website at Photo by: Michael Cline Photography

Jellybean is my name and I am a gorgeous buckskin blonde Lab who is seeking companionship. At 4-years-old, I am at the peak of my prime. I am full of beauty, vitality and energy and looking for my match. Sadly, such youth and beauty is wasted sitting alone in my kennel, the same kennel that has been my home for more than 2-years. With more to offer than a pretty face and intelligence, I need someone to match and enjoy my full potential. While being awesome, I like being the center of attention, because in fact, the world DOES revolve around me (duh). I would prefer to be your only child, although with proper time and energy I might be persuaded otherwise. I dream of long walks (or runs) down the beaches or up the mountain trails or anywhere but the shelter that is, and has been, my only home. Like most of us, I have dreams and potential. Dreams so big that not even the cold concrete of the kennels could squash. My life was never meant to be this way and I know it in my core. I know that somewhere, someone reading this knows it, too. Maybe you’re missing something and perhaps it is a JellyBean. Call or text Silvia with A Shelter Friend at 910-876-0539, visit, or check for more info! I am sponsored in honor of Bunny, a much adored member of the Singleton family. Well, hello there! My name is Bear and I’m a 1-year-old Pit mix boy in search of a loving home. I’m a total sweetheart, but I can be a bit shy when I first meet you. I guess you could say I’m quite the ladies man, though, as I warm up more quickly to those of the female persuasion. My new person or family should understand that it’ll take me just a little time to adjust, but I’m a happy, friendly boy and I will be a wonderful companion! Oh yes, I’m also neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. If you’re interested in meeting me, please call Pender County Humane Society at 910-259-7022. The shelter is open to the public seven days a week! I am sponsored by the Furry Friends Re-sale Shop in honor and memory of all the animals who've passed through the doors of Pender County Humane Society.

Adoption Options We are all from different Animal Rescues. Please read our stories! FRIENDS OF FELINES Hi there! My name is George. I need to find a new home because my family already had a dog in the house who is not adjusting to me being there. I LOVE other animals, even that silly dog. I would really enjoy being able to go outside for walks on a leash. I am a love bug so I would like to have a new home where I can have lots of attention. I am neutered and up to date on my shots. Please call 919-710-3872 to arrange to meet me. I am looking forward to hearing from you! ♥ We are a brother and sister duo name Ivy and Clover. We love each other, dogs and humans. We would like a home where we could stay together or we could go to separate homes with other animals - we are too social to be on our own all day. We are loving, playful, and happy little kittens who are current on vaccines and fixed. Please call or text 919-710-3872 to arrange a visit. ♥

OPERATION TOP CAT My name is Bynx and I’m a sweet and friendly boy who likes pets. I had a urinary issue which has resulted in me needing to only have prescription urinary food and not over the counter urinary wet and dry food. I have a brand that I love and eat just fine. I just celebrated my 2nd birthday in August and hope you’re my belated birthday gift. I’ve had all my vet care including neuter surgery, vaccines and negative tests for Feline Leukemia and FIV. I’ve been around other cats and do fine. To adopt me, call 910-200-0612 or email ♥

8 September 2022

HAMILTON’S HEALING HEARTS My name is LaCie and I’m about 4-months-old. As you can see, I love to cuddle. I came from a shelter where I didn’t have much time left. All of my siblings have been adopted so I have to cuddle with this stuffed animal now. I’d rather cuddle with you. I do great with other cats, kids and dogs. To adopt me, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to! ♥ I’m a sweet girl named Azalea. I was at a rural shelter where I had run out of time but Hamilton’s Healing Hearts stepped up and saved me. I love everyone I meet and I do great with farm animals, too (see my picture). I’m a very laid-back, kid-friendly, 5 to 6-year-old Beagle who loves car rides. I’m spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. I just need you! To adopt me, call 910-271-5170 or email! ♥

COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (CARE) I’m a beautiful pup named Ariel! I came in with a traumatic injury that has left me with permanent coordination and balance challenges. I may fall down a little more or have a few more problems getting up, but this does not stop me as I will play and run with my gang of puppy friends. While I try hard to be a good girl, my condition can result in an accident here and there but a good routine and lots of yard space could be a big help. I’m in need of a loving home with a yard and hopefully other dogs or kids to play with! For information, please call 910-256-2624 or email ♥

Adoption Options We are all from different Animal Rescues. Please read our stories! COLUMBUS HUMANE SOCIETY

Hi there, my name is Adel! I’m a small indoor cat who loves being petted and brushed. I get along with dogs and I sleep wherever I am allowed. At 5-years-old, I’m spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained, with silky all-black fur and golden eyes. My owner passed away in August, leaving me with my owner’s wheelchairbound, elderly sister, and she cannot give me the attention I need. Do you have space in your heart for a sweet girl like me? Please call Julie at 910-770-0442 or email and let’s make a plan to meet. ♥

Hi, my name is Big Foot or, as my foster mom calls me, Big! I lost my dad a few months ago and my 2 other siblings and I were living outside until RescueConnect came and rescued us. I am a sweet and loving boy but I can take a little time to settle in to a new environment. I love to run around the yard and get loved on. I am about 6-years-old and in the process of getting heartworm treatment. I am going to be good to go after that! I tend to hang pretty close to my foster mom. I am house-trained and learning to walk on a leash. If I were to have any other canine siblings, ones my size are what I feel most comfortable with. I have come a long way and will continue my progress with a loving family. I sure do miss my dad but I’m ready to find my next adventure. To be my forever family, please call 910-302-7290 or visit to apply for my adoption. ♥

Hello, I’m Hannah, an 8-year-old Black Lab mix. I weigh about 45 pounds and am spayed. I’m a sweet girl who walks great on a leash and I enjoy going for walks in the neighborhood or park. I’d like a home without cats and I’ve never been around small children. At night, I sleep in the bedroom with my foster mom on a dog bed. My owner passed away in August, which left me living with her wheelchair bound, elderly sister, and she just can’t give me the attention and training I need. I’m a friendly black beauty who just needs someone with a fenced yard and space in their heart for me. Call Julie at 910-770-0442 or email so that we can meet. ♥

CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE I am Trudy, a sweet older girl with a great personality! I am getting along with the other doggie housemates splendidly, and I love to sleep at the foot of my foster dad’s bed. Because of torn ligaments in my hind legs and general agerelated joint pain, I initially had a problem with stairs, but now I am getting along just fine. I also walk well on a leash and enjoy getting some good exercise to keep me limber. I am ready for my forever home, so if you’re looking for a great companion, let’s start our forever together! For info, call 888-909-2387 or visit ♥

ONSLOW COUNTY PARTNERS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE The Journey of a Dog Called Max I am a 6-year-old black Labrador Retriever who is 65 pounds, neutered, and fully vaccinated. My folks were an elderly couple who never taught me all the manners I should know, but I do know some. They had difficulty remembering to give me the insulin medication I needed daily, so they brought me to the veterinarian and asked her to euthanize me. The veterinarian could not do this as she felt I was a good dog and would do well with a loving family. I also tested heartworm positive and was treated with the slow-kill method. Everyone was trying very hard to help me, but I was staying in a kennel most of the day and it was very lonely at night. I will surely be an excellent companion as I will be in training for a month. When folks see me, they will say, “Wow, what a well-behaved boy!” Please come to meet me to see if I’m a good fit for your family or for fostering. One look into my sweet brown eyes and you will see all the love my soul has to offer. My name is Max and I want to be your forever buddy. Please call 910-745-7930 or fill out the adoption/foster application on our website at ♥

I listen to commands, I walk well on a leash, I’m very playful and also house-trained! I’m up to date on my shots, microchipped, heartworm negative and neutered. I’d love a home without other fur siblings (cat or dog) so that I can get all the belly rubs. The shelter is open to the public every day, so if you’re interested in meeting me, come on over or give Pender County Humane Society a call at 910-259-7022 with any questions! Paws Place Send inquiries for adoption to or call 910-845-7297. ◄Maverick here! Are you looking for a wingman? (See what I did there? Wink Wink, Top Gun fans.) I’m an adorable, 17 pound Chihuahua mix. At just 5-years-old, I’m a sweet and shy boy who doesn’t like loud noises or fast movements but I’m coming out of my shell a little at a time. Once I get to know you and realilze I am safe, I am all about the belly rubs and snuggles! I can’t wait to find my special human so that I can become the brave, bossy lad I’ve always wanted to be. Won’t you come to the shelter and meet me? ♥

►Hi, I'm Sally, a Hound mix girl just 5-months-old! I came to Paws Place with my seven siblings. There are two of us left and we play together with baskets full of toys! You can see my brother Linus on page 40. I’m your typical puppy: playful, curious and sweet as can be! I am also spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. So, if you want an adventurous girl who also has a cuddly, sweet side, I’m the one for you! ♥

►I’m Sheeda, the neighborhood flirt who always wants cuddles and snuggles! I’m super loyal, so I’d prefer to be the only dog in the home. If playing fetch, sunbathing, and leisurely walks are your thing, we’re destined to be soulmates! I’m one of Paws Place’s longest residents and I have a couple requirements: 1) a fenced yard and 2) a home without kids (I don’t mind them, but they can be loud and unpredictable which makes me nervous). But back to the good stuff! I am house-trained and leash-trained, and I love to lean all 52 pounds of me on you and snuggle! At 7-years-old, I’m a happy-go-lucky girl looking for a human to shower me with affection. How about you? ♥

◄It’s me, Josephine, the cutest 1-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound! I’ve been at Paws Place for over 5 months and have had no interest. I just don’t understand! I wake up every morning ready to play, I grab my toy and run outside, but no one stops by to visit with me. I love all people (and dogs) and am working really hard to improve my meeting and leash skills. I just get so excited when someone finally chooses to meet me. Do you have room in your heart for a 47-pound good girl? I’ll be the most loyal best friend! ♥

◄Hi, I’m Greta, a 10-year-old gal who is looking for a place to crash during my golden years. I may not be winning any fetch awards, but I will definitely win your heart with my mad snuggling skills! I’ve been at Paws Place since 2019 with no interest. Unfortunately, the world has not been kind to me, so I don’t know who I can trust and am timid meeting new people. It will take a few visits for me to warm up. I really am a lover; I just need someone who will give me a chance and understand I like to take things slow. You can gain my trust by giving me treats and walking me on my leash. Since I am a true lady, I already know ‘sit’ and ‘down’. Will you please give me a chance? ♥

◄I'm Zeke, who are you? You say you're looking for a dog? That's amazing! Because I am a dog! I am a fun and energetic boy, just 1-year-old and 46 pounds. I love all humans and dogs that I meet. The world was not very nice to me, and I came to Paws Place very thin, but that didn’t stop me from snuggling and kissing everyone here. I am so grateful for the humans who saved me. They have been teaching me leash manners, allowing me to walk with my friends and feeding me those tasty things called treats! So, when are we meeting? Hopefully very soon! ♥

My ID number is A451828. Come see me today! ♥ ◄Hi there! Are you looking for a friend like me? I am a silly boy and I get really excited when I go outside. At just 1½ -yearsold, I’m a Pit Bull who loves toys that make noise and I will carry them around at times. I have been great with the other dogs here when we have play groups, but I don’t like it when the other dogs try to play so rough. Overall, I have been one really good boy at the shelter and am waiting for my turn to be adopted. My ID number is A452882 but I hope one day to hear my family calling me by the new name they’ve chosen just for me. ♥

I hope it’s you, because the staff has noticed that I really want to make a connection with someone. At my age, 8-years, it’s not right that I’m here in a shelter, I should be laying on a soft dog bed with kind hands smoothing my fur. I’m a laid-back, easy-going boy who is very gentle with my mouth when taking treats. My ID number is A452592 and I’m hoping you won’t wait, you’ll hurry on over. ♥ ►I’ve been waiting for a home since May! I don’t yet have an official name, but I’ve been nicknamed Mellow (A448646) due to my very chill personality. Yes, if you’re looking to share life with a laid-back and gentle soul, I’m your boy! I’m a bit of a foodie because I get excited when I see treats coming, but I take them so gently from your fingers. At about 5-years of age, I’m a neutered Pit Bull who is looking forward to being someone’s loyal friend. ♥ ◄My red coat and sweet smile will brighten anyone’s day, including yours! At just 2-years-old, I’m a Lab mix boy who is happy and playful and a great kisser, too! My ID number is A451704 and I am enjoying the toys they give me here. I’m very food motivated which will be a big plus when it comes to training, which is something all young pups like me can benefit from. I’d love to be part of an active family - how about yours? ♥

▲I’ve been at the shelter since April! Some call me Swimmer Pup (A446828) because I’m a young girl who LOVES playing in the pool. I’m a true sweetheart who likes to roll over and over and over in the grass and chase water from the hose. I enjoy playing with toys and would prefer to be the only dog. But I’ll have plenty of pool fun all by myself! Please visit me! ♥ Photo by: Michael Cline Photography

▲Life will be grand when you and I meet! You see, I already know you are gonna love me so much! I don’t yet have a name, but I’m confident you will pick the perfect one for my goofy, silly, fabulous personality! I’m a 1-year-old Lab mix boy who never met a tennis ball I didn’t like. If you enjoy throwing tennis balls, we’ll be a great match, because I enjoy chasing after them! I’m looking for an active family who will play with me and then cuddle when we’re pooped! (910) 799-3400 Cats ~ Dogs My name is Oliver and I am a very friendly, loving and affectionate Russian Blue. Russian Blues are rare finds in animal shelters, but I am even more rare because I am also a "CH" cat which stands for mild cerebellar hypoplasia. In English, that means I have ever so slight balance and coordination issues. It is not painful or contagious. My mom was exposed to a bad virus when she was carrying me in her womb and there is no treatment. I am what I am - kind of clumsy is all. I am great with kids and other cats. To meet me, text Sherry at 910-523-1254 for more info. You may also visit us online at or on Facebook at for updates. I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies and daddies who care for homeless animals.

My name is Texas and I am a chunky low-rider! I am a really smart girl and even though I am 7years-old, I still have a lot of energy. I am super sweet and do get along with most dogs. I’m looking for a home without cats, chickens or young children. I know sit, stay and wait, and I am house-trained. I love going on walks and I love to give kisses! A home with a fenced yard where I can run and play would be ideal for me. I have my bags packed and I am waiting and ready for my forever family! If you could be my forever family, call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290 or visit to apply for me. I am sponsored by Cape Fear Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Cat Tails Please call 910-253-1375 or email to adopt us! ►When I came to Cat Tails, I was a very small kitten in a 5-gallon bucket! There was cardboard taped on the top that made the bucket even darker and scarier! At first, they thought I was a black kitten with a skin problem, but when I crawled up into the light, everyone knew I was a very pretty Tortie. Now, I’m 5-months-old, friendly, and ready for a home and a family of my own. Come on in and ask for Bucket! After we adopt each other, we’ll have the best time together. ♥

◄I’m a long-haired, buffcolored kitten who was found on the side of the road. It is believed I was probably hit by a car. I really don’t remember. Anyway, it was in Little River so my name is River. Someone picked me up and brought me here to Cat Tails where our vet sewed up my lip and treated all the cuts on my legs. Just when I was ready to find a home, I got sick! Now, I’m 7-months-old, healthy, and waiting for my own home and family. Please come and get me! ♥

►Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Ricky, Happy Birthday to me. I just turned 1-year-old. My name is Ricky and I am the ‘Rob Gronkowski’ of Cat Tails. I’m big, athletic and just slightly crazy. I need an adopter with lots of space in their house because I’m very active. My favorite activities are running and jumping. Oh, and you might not need a football, but you’ll need lots of toys so I can throw them around and chase them. Some toys we can play with together would be nice, too. ♥ ◄A truffle might be a fancy chocolate candy or a subterranean fungus. Both are delicious and very expensive! Not me! My name is Truffle and I’m an 8-year-old, female cat. I’m not edible but I am a beautiful Calico and Maine Coon mix. I do have a couple of quirks: I don’t like to be picked up and I really, really dislike other cats. I’m also wary of anything new and would need a long adjustment time. ♥

►Hello! When I was given my name, Joker, the people didn’t know how perfect it was. I am absolutely loaded with personality! I may not have been in any of the Batman movies, but I can entertain you just as well. I am a handsome 5-month-old who loves to be the center of attention! I don’t much like being alone so if you have another cat or adopt one of my friends with me, that would be fantastic. A family, a friend and a home would make my life perfect! ♥

▲My name is Apollo and this buff and white kitten (pictured on the right) is my brother Artemis. We are 5-month-old brothers who are looking for homes. We were found on Ocean Isle Beach under a house. Now that we’ve been socialized, neutered and vaccinated - we want to be in a home. We can be adopted together or separately, we just want to be adopted! Come meet us! ♥

Thundering Paws Pet Adoption Please call 910-224-6068 or email to adopt! ◄We are a 5½-week-old litter of four. There are three sisters: Melody, Sarah and Ella; and I’m Miles - the only boy. The girls were rescued a week before me, but now we’re all together. We are busy eating, sleeping, playing and growing to get ready for our forever homes. The vet says we are in great health. If you would like to adopt one or more of us, please contact Thundering Paws today. ♥

◄▲We are 5-month-old kittens. My name is Miko and I’m the only girl. These are my brothers: Ernie, Bert and Tong Tong. We are healthy felines who were recently spayed or neutered and vaccinated. We love to play and cuddle and we are ready for our forever homes! ♥ ◄I’m a strikingly beautiful 2-year-old Tabby named Echo. My parents made a military move and sadly could not take me with them. I am a good girl, but I’m a little shy with cats because I was bullied in the past. I’m also frightened of dogs. I would love to go to a quiet home with a gentle cat or no pets. ♥

►I’m Sassy and I’m a 1½-year-old medium-haired, brown and tan Tabby. I have already been spayed and I am super friendly and love adults and children of all ages. I am scared of dogs, especially large breeds. I prefer to be the only pet in the home! I relax during the day and enjoy my playtime in the evening. I tested negative for FeLV/FIV, my shots are up to date. ♥ ◄I’m a solid black handsome boy named Noire! I am a super quiet cat who seldom meows. When I want to be loved, I’ll stand on my hind legs and nod my head to get your attention. I’m 4½-years-old, neutered, vaccinated and love my scratching posts! ♥ ►Hello! My name is Miss Marple, I’m approximately 2-years-old, I’m current on my vaccinations, spayed and I tested negative for FeLV/FIV. I am a super friendly Tortoiseshell and love to be petted and held by humans. I was a great momma cat and very proud of my litter of 3. While I love them dearly, they’ve all been adopted and I am done with motherhood. If you are a really good person, consider giving me a home. I’ll be a wonderful companion. ♥

Hi there! Chaco here, pictured on the left. I want to tell you a little about me and my brother, Wolfie. I usually do all the talking because Wolfie is a little shy and I am the more social one. We are 4-years-old and we are Husky/Lab/Shepherd mixes. I am the gorgeous copper colored one and Wolfie looks like a Husky with his black and cream colored markings. We came from the same mom and we had a wonderful home for 4-years until our daddy died and someone took us to a shelter. We were so scared at that loud shelter with all those other dogs barking all the time. We just wanted to hide in our dog house and wake up from this terrible dream! After a couple of really hard weeks, a really nice lady came to meet us and took us home with her. We were so happy to get out of that place! We love our foster mom and she made us feel so much better. We get to run around the yard and get lots of treats - which is our favorite! We are neutered and vaccinated and have microchips in our necks so if we get lost, we can be reunited. But we won't get lost, we don't want to go to the shelter again. My brother and I do everything together. We go potty together, we eat together and we sleep together. Wolfie is my best friend and I don't like it when we can't be together. When our foster mom takes us for walks, I pull on the leash because I just want to get to where I am going. Wolfie is a slow poke and sometimes needs coaxing to walk on the leash. We don't mind being in a crate but we are mature enough to not tear things up like puppies do so you don’t need to crate us. I like all the attention people give me but my brother takes his time when giving affection. Once he knows you are a good person, he will give you a lick on the nose and sit right up against you. Did I mention we are really big dogs? I weigh 90 pounds and Wolfie is 70 pounds. That may intimidate you, but we are just big babies and are not scary at all! We don't really play or wrestle, but prefer to just lay around together. My brother has a stuffed sloth he likes to carry around (see his picture above?) and he will bring it to you if he loves you. It's kinda cute! We like other dogs ok as long as they don't try to boss me around. We like to bark at cats so you probably shouldn't have any if you don't like a loud bark. Whoever wants to adopt us has to accept us both. I can't live without my best pal. Why don't you come and meet us? Please contact Roseys Rescue by texting 910-547-0998, emailing, or checking out our posts on Facebook at Roseys Rescue. We are sponsored in loving memory of Daisy, faithful companion to Terry and Mike.

Adopt-An-ANGEL To adopt, please stop by an adoption fair or call the number listed in our bios. ◄Hello, I am Barbie and I'm a 2-year-old sweet girl. I may prefer a home without other cats, but dogs seem fine with me. I am spayed, up to date on my vaccinations and ready for a home to call my own. Please come see me at Petsense in Shallotte or call Sherry at 910-523-1254. ♥ ►My name is Meatball. I am a super-friendly guy and I love everyone I meet. However, I should be an only pet in the household and would be best with someone familiar with my breed. I am a little, knee-high pocket Pit who is adorable. I am an older fella about 8-years-old. I was recently treated for heartworms, and I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I am LAZY, low-maintenance and love to lounge around. Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or Sherry at 910-523-1254. ♥ ◄My name is Samantha and if you want a pretty cat to look at all day, I am drop dead gorgeous. I also happen to LOVE people and I am a real companion! I’m 3-yearsold, super friendly and I am absolutely ready for my forever home. I lived with my brother cat until March so I am a good companion cat for you OR your needy cat at home. Come meet me at Petco in the cages or text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥

►My name is Alice and I am an 8-month-old total Lovebug! I seem to do well with other cats, dogs and kids. For some reason, I have been getting overlooked - which is unbelievable. If you want an easygoing, laid-back girl who will immediately fit in, please call Sherry at 910-523-1254 for more information about me. ♥ ►My name is Hailey and I am a larger girl, but a total love bug. I am house-trained, quiet and well-mannered. I am about 5-years-old. I was recently returned because my owner's roommate kept leaving the gate open and I would go for a stroll. If you can keep your gates and doors shut, I will be a perfect companion. I am great with older kids and ok with other dogs. In my last home, the cat didn't like me. Please call Sherry at 910-523-1254 to meet me or to answer any questions. ♥ ◄My name is Midnight. I am a strikingly beautiful 3-year-old stray looking for my forever home. They describe me as a Tortoiseshell which is black with splotches of orange all throughout my coat. I am a rare find in an animal shelter. I seem to love other animals and I really love all my people and being petted. If you are looking for a super friendly girl who has never met a stranger, please come see me at Petsense in Leland or call Sherry at 910-523-1254. ♥

My name is Rascal and I’m a loveable, handsome, 2-year-old Orange Tabby boy who has tested positive for FIV. Wait, please continue reading! It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual, friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats like me can and DO live normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness. In fact, being FIV+ never gets me down. I may be shy when you first meet me, but with time and patience you’ll see I’m a total Love Bug who just wants a family to call my own. A home where I am the only cat or one with another cat that is FIV positive would be best. Cat-friendly dogs would be okay, too! Please call SOAR at 910-457-6340 to meet me. I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

My name is Roxy (A133935)! I may have some gray on my face, but I’m a Boxer mix girl who still plays like a puppy! At 7-years of age, I’m loving, easy to walk and I like other dogs. I have a zest for life and cuddle time! Meet me at Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services or call 910-754-8204 with questions.

Did someone say snuggles? The name’s Chase, and I’m a 74 pound Teddy Bear! I would love to spend my nights snuggled up with my forever humans getting belly rubs and giving kisses. That’s the dream! I’m a young and bubbly 1-year-old Lab mix boy who is always curious about everything. Are you up for hiking, long walks on the beach, and picnics at the park? These are the adventures I dream of doing after I complete my heartworm treatment. Yes, I am heartworm positive, but I have almost finished my treatments and I can’t wait to soon run with the wind flapping through my ears. In the meantime, we can work on commands. I am a very smart boy and will do anything for treats. I have been working on my leash manners, too, and boy, oh boy, is it fun with treats! I’m the best of both worlds: an adventure seeker and a snuggle bug. So, what do you say? I’m ready to be man’s (or woman’s) best friend! Paws Place is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and no appointment is necessary. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email for info on adopting me. I am sponsored in honor of all the people who lovingly care for the dogs at Paws Place.

ADOPT: All of our cats are anxiously waiting to be adopted! Whether you want a mellow Lap Cat or a bundle of energy, we will help you choose the cat who is right for you! PREPPIE

I was living under a prep school and was too scared to come out much. Finally, I was rescued by FURR and have been meowing with joy ever since. I am the sweetest little 10-month-old girl with very unique soft fur. I am black with a silver undercoat! I love being with people and I never knew it could be so great to be loved, fed regularly and safe. You will fall in love with me at the first meeting. I'm fully vetted, spayed, microchipped and ready to go.

I am about a 1-year-old and super handsome. My fur is super soft and I love to be rubbed. I have a very quiet nature and can be a teensy shy, but after petting me for a moment, I can purrrrr to beat the band. My favorite thing is kitty treats and playing with all my buddies. If you want a big laid-back boy, I could be the one for you. Why don't you come meet me and see for yourself? I am fully vetted and ready to go!

DONATE: Covering medical costs, pet supplies and food are every day expenses for FURR. We accept monetary and non-monetary donations which are tax-deductible to the extent of the law! MAX I am a sweet teenage girl who had a tail injury and as a result, it had to be amputated. I'm so lucky that I was rescued with my brother, Jax. My tail amputation hasn't slowed me down at all. I am a gorgeous, greeneyed bobtail. I love playing with all toys, especially my laser light. I am easy-going and love my rub downs. Please let me out of this pen! I want to watch TV with you on your couch with my brother, Jax. He gives me the confidence I need and I think I would be lost without him. I am completely vetted and ready.

JAX I’m a young, gorgeous, silver Tabby who is very laid-back! I love all kinds of attention and belly rubs. I am a good-natured boy with a gentle soul. Since I’m always happy, my favorite thing to do is purr. I am ready to flourish in my forever home where I can be a social butterfly. I do have a sibling sister named Max (we’re pictured together with our tongues sticking out), and we have been through a lot together. It would be great if you could adopt us both. I am fully vetted and ready for a forever home. FURR gives discounts for adopting 2 attached kitties!

VOLUNTEER: There are lots of ways to help our cause, from raising awareness about spaying/neutering, to helping with fundraisers or simply volunteering time to care for the kitties! PAYTON I am a STUNNING chatty girl who loves to play and be adventurous. I think my markings are precious just like me! Please come meet me and see. I am fully vetted and ready for my new humans to take me home. You won't find a prettier girl with all of my stripes and white. I have really cool siblings and we all play together and have a really great time. I was born at the rescue because my mama was pregnant with us when she was saved from a Bojangles parking lot. CHECK OUR WEBSITE TO SEE CATS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

CARBON I am literally a once-in-alifetime cat. I am 3-years young and my owners are leaving the country. They really loved me a lot, but they couldn't take me with them so I had to come back to FURR. I am the most gentle, laid-back kitty ever! I would love a family to dote over me. My fur is silky smooth and soft and I love to be petted, rubbed and brushed! I will greet you at the door and I'm not timid at all. In fact, I love to talk and tell you all about my thoughts. I hope to be adopted really soon, so hurry up and come meet me!

If puppy kisses and puppy wiggles are on your Most Wanted list, I’m here to help you check them off! I’m a 6-month-old Lab mix boy who is a typical active, happy puppy who melts hearts wherever I go. I can be shy at first but I warm up quickly, especially if you have a treat. I’m very food and treat motivated, you see! I also love the water, so maybe one day we can hit the beach! You’ll have to think up a name for me, because right now I’m known only as ID # A453024. Let’s meet at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington! Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For driving directions or more information, call 910-798-7500. I am sponsored by Christy Lee. R.A.C.E. (Rescue Animals Community Effort) To make an appointment to adopt one of us, please call 910-579-0407. ◄My name is Archie and I’m an Australian Shepherd mix. I am paralyzed from the waist down and use my cart to get around. I love to go on walks and I am good with other dogs. I like my people, I am 2-years-old, I weigh around 40 pounds. I will always need to wear belly bands because I leak urine. I am a good boy and deserve a loving family. If you have experience with dogs like me, please ask to meet me in person. ♥ ►My name is Florence. I am a Blue Tick Coonhound who is 8-months-old and 42 pounds. I am heartworm negative and I love all people and all dogs. I am an active girl and love to play. I will go anywhere with you and love car rides. Life is meant to be filled with love and fun. We should experience it together! ♥

►My name is Maybelle. I am a Labrador Retriever, Hound and Spaniel mix who is about 2-years-old and 55 pounds. I am spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I am currently in training classes and have been playing at the park with other dogs. I love all people so much and want to sit in you lap or give kisses. I am young and active and love to play. ♥ ►Hi, I’m Biscotti. I am a super friendly 7-month-old Chihuahua and Terrier mix. I am spayed and microchipped, I tested negative for heartworms and I am current on all my vaccinations. I am already house-trained, I love people and I would especially love another young dog to play with. I weigh 25 pounds so will be a medium-sized dog when I am fully grown. ♥

◄Hello, my name is Katie. I am a Chihuahua and Rat Terrier mix who is 10-months-old and weighs 12 pounds. I am heartworm negative and I am perfect - if I do say so myself. I adore people and get along with other dogs. I am quiet and good in the house. I will be a great companion for you. ♥

►My name is Coco and I’m a very pretty little Jack Russell Terrier mix. I have been treated for heartworms and I’m ready for a new home. I weigh 17 pounds and I am 3-years-old. I am a sweet little girl without a mean bone in my body. I am afraid of men but all I do is avoid them. I get along with other dogs and I am house-trained. I love observing the world from the comfort of a sofa but I also love to play and have a good time, so I am looking for a home with a fenced backyard. If you have room in your heart for me, I will give it back to you ten-fold. ♥

My name is Duchess and you may remember me. That is because I was homeless before and was adopted but I have been returned. My dad took a new job and has moved away. He said his new job meant he would be travelling a lot anyway and I couldn’t go. I am a senior dog, about 50 pounds, who had a rough life to begin with. I am quiet, house-trained and a great indoor dog. Originally, I lived my life on the end of a chain with an endless supply of puppies so I really deserve to be pampered now. I am so very tired of this hard life: homelessness, over-breeding, in and out of shelters / boarding, and spending weekends at adoption fairs getting overlooked. I would be best suited in a home with older kids (whom I actually love) and no other pets since my background was so rough. I would love a nice retired couple. Please come see me at PetPeople Store every Saturday from 11:30am to 3:30pm or call Sherry at 910-523-1254. You may also visit Adopt-An-ANGEL at or on Facebook at for info. I am sponsored in loving memory of Sprout, KC, Babe, Grace, Beauty, Frodo, Sassy, Max, Twinkle, Casper, Coach, Flower, Nell, Duffy, Melody, Whisper, and Raspberry. Hi there! I’m Hamilton and I don’t want to brag, but I am an extraordinary 2-year-old boy looking for an extraordinary human who likes to travel, visit parks, hike mountains, splash around at the beaches, and go anywhere else we can sniff out adventures! I’m wellbehaved for a young lad, I know ‘sit’, and I’m working on my leash manners, too. I am quite the 45 pound goofball and love to play, so I hope my forever family likes to have fun as well. I am always making the volunteers laugh at my silliness. I am also a collector… of toys, of course! Any toy you give me I will take and place on my bed. I am heartworm positive, but I’ve already started the treatments to get rid of those worms. I’m superfriendly and cuddly, so maybe you have some children I can play with and grow up loving, or maybe it’s just you and me, kid. Paws Place is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am to 2pm (no appointment necessary.) Call 910-845-7297 or email for more info. I am sponsored in memory of Family Dog Naturals’ Finny, their sweet, funny, loving little bubba boy.

All 4 Cats Adoptions by appointment. Call / text 910-707-4372 or email! ◄Hello! My name is Thunderbolt and I am a 1-year-old teddy bear. I am a special girl because I bond quickly and deeply with other cats, so I must be adopted to a multi-cat household. If you are looking for a companion for your existing cat, I’m the perfect fit for your family. Around people, I am very shy and timid at first and it takes a while for me to warm up. I will need an experienced adopter with the time and patience to earn my trust. Once I trust you, I will follow you around and always want cuddles. I’ll sleep with you, too. If you’re interested in meeting me, message us or text 910-707-4372 to set up a meeting in my foster home. ♥

►My name’s Keelow, and I am a laid-back lover boy. I always want to be around my foster parents and I follow them all over the house like their shadow. I even love to sleep next to them in bed. I’m not too thrilled about other cats and dogs - they just cramp my style. I’m very calm and really just want to be someone’s best buddy. I’m around 2-years-old, and I’m a big boy weighing in at 20 pounds. Please get in touch with All 4 Cats if you’d like to meet me. ♥

►My name is Princess Fiona and I am an 8-year-old girl who knows what she wants. And just what do I want? Cuddles - always cuddles. When I’m ready for some lovins and snugglins, I will come to you - I don’t like to wait. Overall I am a very relaxed girl, though I’ve been know to play with toys and strings when the mood strikes. I get along very well with children and other cats. My only need, aside from love and affection, is that I eat in small meals or with a slow-feeder because I have a sensitive stomach. If you would like to be my prince (or princess - I don’t care), please get in touch with us or fill out an application to meet me today! ♥

►My name Is Yuki and I am a 2-year-old Tuxie girl. I am very affectionate and I crave human interaction. Though I am a bit bashful at first, once I blossom, I am so loving and affectionate and always want to be around you. I do well with dogs and cats, but I would be ok by myself, too. If you have some mice toys and love to give, I am your girl. Oh, and treats, you must have treats too ;) ♥

◄We are brother and sister and were abandoned at the shelter when we were only 4-months-old. We’ve always only had each other, so we are very bonded and must be adopted together. We do everything together: sleep, clean each other, and even sometimes eat out of the same bowl together. I’m Daylilly and I love to be held, and I’m very outgoing, affectionate and adventurous. I protect my brother. Carnation is is my sister and she’s more shy and nervous. She needs someone patient who will be willing to work with her until she comes out of her shell. Just wait and see the kitty she’ll blossom into. Both of us love to sleep with you and would do best in a calmer environment with no small children. ♥

►Do you like your Torties to be super sweet, affectionate, and playful with a side of sass? My name is Samoa and I’m a 1-year-old lap cat and diva who’ll provide constant entertainment. My true passion in life is chasing marbles around the house and finding hidden toys. I love being around people and I’m the first to greet new visitors. I get along with other cats and love to watch dogs pass by from my window. Although I haven’t met one up close, I would probably do well with a dog. I might not be the best cat with infants around as I give love nibbles from time to time when I’m excited or adamant about something. ♥

No, you’re not seeing double, this is just me admiring my handsome reflection in the mirror! My name is Danny and I’m an affectionate 10-month-old teenage boy who loves nothing more than sitting in your lap and being petted. I love to play with other cats and I also get along well with dogs. I do take a little time to adjust to new people but, once I do, I am a loving and devoted companion. I am neutered, vaccinated, litterboxtrained and ready to go home! To meet me, please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755. You can also send an email to, or message them on Facebook @CatAdoptionTeamNC. I am sponsored by ECM Corporation. Thank you!

Hi, my name is Callerina and I am a 9-year-old, 8 pound, spayed Persian girl. I’ve found myself searching for a new family since my former owners could no longer care for me. I suffered a trauma to my tail resulting in amputation but I’m otherwise healthy, current on vaccinations and microchipped. I am a very sweet, easy-going girl who gets along well with other cats and dogs. I miss having a home and family. If you are interested in adopting me or would like more info, email Sharon at, call 910-617-3760 or complete an application at I am sponsored in loving memory of Jane “Button” Honeycutt Spencer.

CAT: Cat Adoption Team To adopt, please email or text/call 910-599-2755. ◄I’m Sophia, a sweet little ball of fur, with plenty of social skills to fit in anywhere. I purr, I play, and I get along with other cats as well as kids. I was rescued together with my pal Frost, with whom I have bonded while living at our foster home. She’s pictured there right below me. Perhaps you might want to adopt us together? Call or text 910-599-2755 and let’s meet! ♥ ◄I’m Frost, a 12-week-old kitten girl who was rescued from a crowded county shelter. I’m a well-rounded kitten: sweet, curious, and playful. I love to play with kitten friends, other cats, and kids. I would love to be adopted together with Sophia, who is pictured above, as we have been living and playing together at our foster home. To meet us, call or text 910-599-2755. ♥

▲I’m Galaxy, an orange Tabby kittten boy, and you may have met my sister, Cindy, at the top of the page. We were rescued from a crowded county shelter and are now safe in a foster home. We play and purr, and we enjoy love and attention. Cindy is the leader and I zoom right behind her. We enjoy tumbling together, exploring, and living life to the fullest. To meet us, please text or call 910-599-2755. ♥

◄I’m Cindy, the sister in a dynamic, bonded, brother and sister kitten duo. He and I are all about playing, purring, and enjoying a prolonged petting session in your lap. (You can see my brother Galaxy on this page!) I am fearless and will zoom through the house, full of kitten energy. To meet us, please text or call 910-599-2755. ♥ ◄I’m Carlos and I love dogs!! I would be happiest living with a dog or puppy as a buddy. I am also fine with cats, as long as I’m not chased or bullied. I’m a 2-yearold affectionate and gentle cat who loves to be petted. I am laid-back and adjust quickly to a new home. A quiet home without children is probably the right fit for me. To meet me, please call or text 910-599-2755. ♥ ►I’m Nova, a very sweet, affectionate and playful 10-weekold kitten girl. I love to be mothered by older cats and I love to play with other cats and kids. I am social and outgoing. And yes, I am almost impossible to photograph because all I want to do is run towards you so that I can be loved and petted. I’m a true love bug, indeed! Please call or text 910-599-2755 to meet me! ♥

You were loved. Your life had meaning and value. You will be forever missed.

Who can resist a young 4-year-old Lab mix! My name is Ridley and my favorite pastime is snuggles. When I came to Paws Place, they found out I had a chronic injury, through no fault of my own. The vet told Paws Place that this injury made me special, and I would need a little extra care, but I am like any other dog. So, I am looking for a special person who understands I’m a special dog who deserves the love of a forever home, too. As you can see, when I am indoors, I require a diaper, but that doesn't stop me from playing or enjoying a frozen Kong on a warm summer’s day! At 60 pounds, I’m a medium-sized boy who walks great on a leash, too. I love letting the sunshine hit my face and exploring everything the world has to offer. I steal the hearts of everyone I meet and wow them with my personality, but after 8-months at Paws Place no one seems to want such a loving special boy as me. Can you help me find my forever home? Paws Place is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am to 2pm and no appointment is necessary. Call 910-845-7297 or email for more info. I am sponsored in loving memory of Angus Hairston.

Roseys Rescue To adopt, please email or text 910-547-0998. ◄My name is Grace and I am a Husky mix who is estimated to be about 2-years-old. I’m a beautiful girl who needs a forever home with an experienced Husky owner. I was adopted early November but due to no fault of my own, I returned back to Roseys Rescue. I am current on all my vaccines, microchipped, spayed, crate-trained, leashtrained, house-trained, and have been treated for heartworms. I will need to be your only pet as I’m not good with cats or dogs. I do love kids of ALL ages. I must have a home with a 6’ fence as I will jump over anything smaller. I am a very affectionate gal and would love to run around and cuddle on the couch with you. If you think I am a perfect fit with your family and want to know more about me, please reach out to us today. ♥ ◄I’m Little Lady, a 3-year-old Golden Retriever mix. I’ve had a rather "ruff" time lately. I was adopted when I was a baby and right before my 3rd Birthday my owner was going through a hard time and gave me away. Unfortunately, my new family took me to a shelter after just a week because they didn't want me either. I was confused and sad - I tried to be a good girl, but with so many changes I didn't know what to do. My foster mom came and got me and brought me back to her house and it's been so much better. She cooks for me and gives me extra special food because she said I was too skinny. I have put on a few pounds and I look so much better now! I am spayed and had all my vaccines. I have a microchip and tested negative for heartworms! I love to go for walks and I really love to ride in the car. I don't mind being in a crate but I don't tear anything up so I don't really need a crate. I am house-trained, I love all my other brother and sister dogs, but I don't really like cats. You want to know what I really like? The pool! I love to just lay in it for awhile and work on my tan. If you think you would like to add me to your family, contact Roseys Rescue today! ♥

►My name is Ramsey. I am a Treeing Walker Hound estimated to be 5-years-old. I am friendly with all dogs and prefer to not have cats in the home but I love kids of all ages. I am the happiest Hound you will ever meet! I am crate-trained, leash-trained and working on house-training. With some patience, I will pick it up fast. My foster mom believes I was a former hunting dog but I have shown no desire to hunt since I’ve been at her home. I am a very low-maintenance and chill boy but when it’s dinnertime, I’m super excited! I am current on vaccines, neutered, dewormed and heartworm negative. ♥ ►I’m Ashtar, a 1-year-old petite Labrador mix. I’m an active boy and after a good play session, I settle down for some love and cuddles on the sofa. I have been through basic obedience training and listen very well! I love to ride along in the car and make a good riding buddy. I really love going to the beach and just generally being with my people. I need a home with no other dogs or a dog with the same energy. I love all kids of all ages. I am cat reactive, so no cats in the home, please. I am house-trained, crate-trained and walk great on a leash. I am current on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, neutered and heartworm negative. ♥ ◄I'm Cash, aka Cashew, and I am Lab mix who is 4½-years-old. I’ve got a smile that'll melt your heart. I love all people, including little babies and toddlers. I have a brother named Reno who I love to play with and I am really going to miss him. I hope to have another brother or sister to pal around with. I am very happy when I can chill out on a couch, or even better over your lap! I've been told I am not a lap dog cause I weigh 70 pounds. I love swimming in pools and ponds and need a home with a securely fenced yard. I’m house-trained, neutered and up to date on vaccines. I knows how to sit and shake paws. I sure do like my treats and will happily work for them! ♥

My name is Jelly Bean and I am just a young little girl at 4-months of age. Someone stuck me in a box and put me in front of a store in the middle of the night. I was pretty scared, but this really nice human found me the next morning and got me into a foster home. Thank goodness! I don't know what would have happened to me. My foster mom says I am really beautiful and that I am all puppy. I don't know what that means, but I love to run, play, run, and play some more. My foster home has a bunch of vertical sticks in the ground (aka a privacy fence) which is great for keeping me safe while I run about and play in the grass. I have some fur friends that I live with and I think I would really like to have a fur friend in my forever home. I went to the doctor and I am healthy. I get a special pill every month to keep me from getting heartworms, I have all my shots, and I was recently spayed. I’m also getting a microchip so that if I get lost, they can find me. I'm waiting for you! For info, to arrange a meet and greet or to find out how to adopt me, call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231 or send an email to

Hi there! I’m Meadow, a precious Pittie girl who’s won the hearts of all the volunteers and staff at Paws Place. At 6-years-old and 47 pounds, I’m curious and spunky and ready to go on all kinds of adventures with you. Then, at the end of the day, I’d really enjoy cuddling up on the couch for endless snuggles. I already know ‘sit’ and I walk well on a leash. What more could you want in a companion? I am the sweetest girl but am starting to think no one wants me. I have been at Paws Place for over 5 months and not one person has come to visit me. I know I can be a little yappy when people go by my kennel, but it’s because I see all my friends getting visitors and no one comes to get big sloppy kisses from me! So, if you’re reading this and you come to visit, let the volunteers know so we can play in the meet and greet room or go on a walk together. I’ve got my paws crossed that I’ll be welcomed into a home where I can receive loads of love, wonderful walks, and sweet snuggles. Come on over to Paws Place! The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and no appointment is necessary. Call 910-845-7297 or email for info.

I am sponsored by Paige Quigley as a living tribute to Snafu, a former shelter dog who found his true forever family.

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess and beach dogs everywhere.

▲I’m a beauty named Socks and I bet it won’t take you long to figure out how I got my name! You can see one of my white bobby socks there in my photo. Won’t you hop in the car and visit me today? ♥

◄I’m a very pretty girl named Baby (aka Molly) and I’d love to be a member of your family! At just 14months of age, I’m a little Pit Bull mix, about 30 pounds. I love to play and am looking for a young, active family who will be committed to making me a part of the ‘pack’. Like all young dogs, I’d greatly benefit from obedience training to reach my highest potential. I am spayed, current on my vaccinations and ready to spend life with you! ♥

The shelter is currently open Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm and closed on Saturday and Sunday. If you have questions, please call 910-763-6692. ►Could your days and nights stand some cheering up? Could you benefit from the licks, kisses and friendship of a puppy? Well, then, hurry on over! I’m Bruce Wayne, a 3½-month-old Pit Bull mix, black and white in color and precious as can be! I am neutered, up to date on my vaccines, and I currently weigh around 20 pounds. I am very friendly and I love attention, so please come give me some! ♥

▲This beautiful face and smile could be the first thing you see in the morning, wouldn’t that be wonderful? My name is Roy and I’m simply a friendly, sweet boy. I love people and I’ve never met a toy I didn’t enjoy! Just spend a few moments with me and you’ll feel more light-hearted and happy than you have in a long time. At 1½-years-old, I’m a Labrador Retriever mix who is neutered and vaccinated. I love to play so I’m in need of a home with a fenced-in yard and an active family who will be committed to training me. Come to the shelter and get acquainted with me real soon - I’ll bring a smile to your face as well. ♥

◄Orange Tabby kittens are some of the sweetest babes around, and I’m no exception! My name is Tigger and I’m a darling 2½-month-old boy who is very curious and playful. In my photo, I’m pouncing on a toy! I get along with other felines and am up to date on vaccinations, litterbox-trained and also neutered. I’m your boy! ♥

I’m a sweet kitten named Gravy! I was brought to CARE by a local shelter who did not have the means to provide the medical care I required. You see, I had a severe eye injury that resulted in me now being an extra cute one-eyed girl. I was recently snuggling up with a 9-year-old girl named Soffe, who raised money for my care. Soffe describes me as loving, playful (I like to bite your hair), and great with kids. I can be quiet and inquisitive or active and mischievous, depending on my mood. I am healthy, vaccinated, and FELV/FIV negative. My adoption includes all appropriate kitten vaccines, spay, microchip, and 10% off services at Atlantic Animal Hospital and Pet Care resort for 1 year. If you are interested in adopting me, please email or call 910-256-2624. I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).

Looking for a loveable puppy? Well, you found me, my name is Linus! I’m looking for a human who will comply with my list of 5-month-old puppy demands...taking walks, playing with my toys, playing fetch, and lots of cuddles at the end of the day! And I meant LOTS OF CUDDLES! I love to play with my sister Sally (pictured on page 13), I’m already learning leash manners, and I hope my humans will teach me basic commands for those tasty snacks called treats. I’m still a growing boy and the nice humans at Paws Place are not sure how big I will be once fully grown. My mom was a 50 pound American Foxhound and my dad, well, my mom said he was the milkman, whatever that means! All in all, I am a simple and loving boy. All I need is my favorite blanket, a few toys to play with, and lots of love. Are you ready to be my forever home? Let’s blow this popsicle stand together and start our life of adventures! The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and no appointment is necessary. You can call 910-845-7297 or email for more info. I am sponsored by The Tree House Gang at Saltscapes Landscaping. Thank you!

Fresh Start Rescue, Inc. To adopt, email or call 910-470-6299! ►I’m Apollo and I’m a 1-year-old male Leopard Gecko. I am a very healthy-sized Gecko who eats well and sheds fine. I am missing a few toenails on my front feet. I’m very calm with handling. ♥

◄My name is Jupiter and I’m an unconfirmed female baby Corn Snake. It is believed that I’m about 2-years-old but I'm still very tiny. I was a little feisty when I first arrived at the rescue but I’ve settled in great. I handle well and eat well on F/T rodents, although you will often need to leave it for me to eat at my convenience. ♥

◄My name is Kyro and I’m a Leopard Gecko who came to rescue because I was not eating and had an eye infection. I have no age information as I was originally purchased on Craigslist. I am currently healthy and eating but still on the skinny side. All the weight seems to go right into my adorable re-grown tail. I would love a forever home that can give me the proper care. ♥

▲Hi, my name is Cleo and I’m a female Leopard Gecko who is about 7-years-old. My owners were both in the military and facing deployment soon. Unfortunately, they didn't have anyone who could watch me long term so they made the decision to surrender me to Fresh Start. I'm a little picky on food so far and a little shy but I should settle in nicely. ♥

◄My name is AJ and I’m a shy little Ball Python who was brought to Fresh Start by a gentleman who lived on military property. Apparently, you’re not allowed to have snakes on military property. I am a little shy but I eat frozen/thawed medium rats and I’m ready for a forever home. ♥ ◄My name is Nine and I’m a beautiful, unsexed, Corn Snake who is about 6-years-old. I usually eat well but will sometimes just take it and hide it for later. I am a little timid when you reach into my enclosure but once I’m out, I handle well. ♥

►Hello, my name is Hypnos and I’m an unsexed Ball Python. I handle fine and I am used to eating live small rats. I have started taking frozen/ thawed rats without hesitation and rarely turn down a meal. ♥ ►Hey, my name is Splotch. I’m a little one who came to rescue from one of the local Animal Control departments. Unfortunately, my age and history is unknown and it’s uncertain if I’m male or female. Don’t worry though - one thing is for certain, I eat well and handle well. ♥
