When the PawPrints Magazine team arrived at my foster home, they had no idea who was going to make it onto the cover. There are several of us adoptable kitties in our foster home so I wasted no time making their selection easy as pie. They set up the backdrop and turned around to grab some props and when they turned back around, I was sitting right there waiting to be photographed! My name is Corsola and I’m an incredibly sweet 9-month-old girl. I am playful and full of purrsonality. I even like playing in water and will sit on the ledge while you shower. You like cuddling? I’ll sleep in bed with you. You like watching movies? Me, too! Although, I usually fall asleep next to you before the movie is over. Do you have other felines in your home? That’s cool with me because I’m good with other cats. I am healthy, spayed, vaccinated, litter-trained, good with kids and ready to go home with you today. If by chance I’ve already been adopted, we have about 60 other felines looking for homes. So you’re pretty much guaranteed to find the purrfect one for you...if not, there might be something wrong with you. Please call or text All 4 Cats at 910-707-4372 or email! Michael Cline Photography, you’re the best! I love all of my photos and I’m so grateful for your time.

(910) 799-3400 Cats ~ Dogs

Hi! I took a break from being cute to introduce myself! I'm Stormy (because I was found right before Hurricane Dorian) and I am even more adorable than my photo. They say I'm “fuzzy” - whatever THAT means - and that I’m one of the sweetest kittens around. All I know is that I love to play, play, play. I’ve been sharing my kitty kennel with my pal, Wobble. I get along great with him so if you have another cat, hopefully I will get along with him or her, too! But Wobble is getting adopted and now I will be all alone! I hope you will come to SOAR and scoop me up. I’ll keep you smiling with my darling kitten antics. If you have any questions, call 910-457-6340. I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

I’m a Boxer girl named Nyla! Unfortunately, my family did not have the time or finances to adequately care for me, so now I’m waiting for a new family at the New Hanover Humane Society. At 6-years-old, this is a stressful setting for me. I'm doing better as I settle in, but what I desire more than anything is a loving family. I can be wary of new folks at first; but after I get to know you, I am affectionate and I just love attention! I am house-trained, spayed and vaccinated. I like to ride in cars, but what I need is exercise! Come get acquainted with me, I could be your walking partner. Call the shelter at 910-763-6692 with any questions or just come on by and meet me! I am sponsored in loving memory of Levi D. Forever number 1.

Hi, my name is Princess! I was an owner surrender through no fault of my own. I am approximately 1-year-old and a Labrador Retriever mix. I have the sweetest temperament and I’m great with kids and other animals (unsure about cats). I am completely happy sitting on your lap and lathering you with kisses. I was kept outside my entire life and am now learning about housetraining. I’m doing an excellent job learning to be a member of a family and I love to play fetch. Come see me at Petsmart in Wilmington where I will make my debut on November 9. If you would like to inquire about me or if you’re interested in making me a permanent member of your family, please send an email to my Columbus Humane Society foster mom at or call 910-234-1681.

Hey, I’m Bernard and I want to be your best friend. I love spending time with family and long walks on the beach. I am fun-loving and full of life! I am kid and animal tested and they all approve. I share food and treats, but not while I am in my own space. I'm looking for an energetic and adventuresome individual or family who is willing to spend time with me and include me in everyday life. It has been discovered that I LOVE water so I hope you like to swim, too! I'm looking for my forever home and I pray it's with you! I’m up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. For more info, or to request an application, please email Jaded Paws Rescue at or call 910-389-2372. You may also visit us online at

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess.

I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of Harley and Murphy.

Hi, my name is Ziggy. I am about 2-years-old and a very handsome brindle mixed breed. At least that's what I hear my foster humans say. They tell me all the time how handsome I am and what a good boy I am. A really nice lady used to belong to me but she couldn't take care of me anymore, so a rescue group promised her that they’d find me a nice home. That’s where you come in! I love my foster humans but I really would love to have my very own furever family who I could love with all my heart. I hope there will be a brother or sister there for me cuz I love playing with other dogs. I like to play a lot and my fosters are helping me learn some special tricks like stay and sit. I don't like my crate very much and get anxious when I am in there and my humans are not around. I am current on my shots, neutered and microchipped (I saw it on my records and thought it was important to tell you)! I really hope you have room in your heart for me. I will be the very bestest friend EVER! Please contact Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue by calling 843-614-0231 or emailing

MEOW Adopt Me!

Hey there, I'm Raven Claw and I’m almost 2-years-old! I recently found out that I'm a good kitty! I found myself living in the country fields with some wild friends until I was able to make friends with some humans who kept feeding me. One day, they had a new human over, who picked me up and loved on me, and then put me in a box and made me visit some place she called the vet. That was kinda scary at first, but all the humans were really nice, and I made lots of friends. I am now current on my shots, I've been spayed and my ear was tipped. After that, I got to meet my foster moms and siblings. I've loved having a chance to play with so many toys and other kitties who are just like me. My foster mom says that I take a day or two to warm up but my purr-machine just never stops. I'm just a young girl who wants to have some fun and enjoy life to the best of my abilities! Won't you be my human so we can make some magic together? If you have a specific question or are interested in adopting me, please email Wagon Tails Farm Rescue at or call 252-414-9219. Adoption Options We are all from different Animal Rescues. Please read our stories! NHC RABBIT RESCUE OF WILMINGTON

My name is Jaxson and I’m a black and white Mini Rex. I was born in March 2019, I’m neutered, and I weigh just 3 pounds. I have been observed engaging in the widest range of behaviors: chinning, grooming, boxing, lunging, exploring, thumping, flagging my tail, startling, hiding, playing with toys, and binkying. I’m often entertaining and interactive. I may be best suited in a home without other rabbits or children who aren’t rabbit savvy. If you would like to know more about me, please send an email to, call 910-686-9171 or visit us at

My name is Sophie and I am 9½-years-old, 24 pounds, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. I’m in good overall health with some hearing loss. I am missing my left rear leg, which doesn’t bother me one bit. I’m still able to run like the wind and play with other dogs. I enjoy being with grown humans and other dogs, give kisses freely and really feel special being groomed. I am house-trained, good on a leash and know several commands. Please call Sharon at 910-617-3760 or email for info on adopting me.

Hi! My name is Twilight and I am a super-sweet, but timid, 11-month-old Walker Hound girl. Under the supervision of Monty’s Home volunteers, my inmate trainers at Pender Correctional Facility are helping me overcome my shyness and teaching me all my basic commands, as well as how to walk nicely on my leash. I am spayed, microchipped, crate-trained, vaccinated, and will come home with some toys, food, as well as my crate. All I need is a little love and kindness, and you can help restore my faith in mankind. To meet me, call Monty’s Home at 910-259-7911, email or fill out an application online at

I started off very malnourished when I arrived but now I’m happy, healthy and ready for my forever home. My friends at CARE have been treating me for a fractured left radius and ulna, but it’s on the mend and will soon be healed and in my past. I have a very sweet temperament and I love to “smile”! I enjoy being with women and can be shy around men, so just be patient with me. I am heartworm negative (yay!),vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. To learn more about adopting me, email or call 910-256-2624.

My name is Misty and I’m a petite, 9-month-old purr machine. I’ll start purring the moment you touch me. I am very playful and love string toys and laser pointers. I am sweet, I like laying in bed with you and I enjoy being held. A perfect day would include time spent looking out windows and sunbathing. I get along well with cats of all ages and was found outside with my littermates. At first, new places make me nervous so I request a little patience until I warm up. I’ve had all my vet care and I’m looking for a loving, inside-only home. To find out more info or to meet me, call Operation Topcat at 910-200-0612 or send an email to I am sponsored in celebration of Savannah Long’s 2nd Birthday.

10 November 2019

My name is Luke, and I have a sad story to tell. When I was adopted several years ago from Paws Place, I thought I was in my forever home. Unfortunately, my mom got very sick and couldn’t take care of me anymore. So, here I am, a 10-year-old Bichon Frise, interviewing prospective families and hoping to find one to call my own. I am healthy and up to date on all vaccinations. However, I could stand to lose a few pounds. Maybe we could work on that together – you know, go for walks. If I sound like I may be a good fit for you, please come out for a visit. Just ask for the handsome and loveable white-haired senior. They will know who you mean. And if you have any questions, please call Paws Place at 910-845-7297. I am sponsored by Christina Jane't Pet Nanny. Thank you!

R.A.C.E. (Rescue Animals Community Effort) To adopt one of us, please call 910-579-0407. ◄Hi, my name is Cane. Look into my eyes, and I promise that I’ll steal your heart! I come from good pedigree - I'm a registered male Black Labrador Retriever. I'm 7-years-old, weigh 100 pounds and am heartworm negative. I love to play ball in the yard with my foster dog pals, but I’m happy hanging out with my humans, too! My foster parent says all indications are I’m house-trained (so no dealing with puppy-piddles), and I’m definitely teachable as I know how to do basic commands like “sit” and “down” - especially if there is a treat involved! I’m loving and have that loyal gene common to Labs! All I need is a furever home! ►My name is Tater and there ain't no-body greater. I'm such a good girl! I am a 7-year-old American Bulldog and Boxer mix. I weigh 72 pounds and am heartworm negative. I like other dogs, and I just adore people. According to my foster friends at RACE, I’ve never met a stranger. My name is actually “Couch Tater” because I like nothing better than a soft couch and some binge watching TV with my people. All you need to do is sit down beside me, and I’ll make myself at home with my head in your lap and belly-up for a belly-rub. Oh, and did I mention, I’m a good car rider (see my picture). I’m trusting, gentle and loving - and ready to share it all with my new family! ◄If you like mature women, then I'm the perfect companion for you! My name is Mollie and I'm a sweet, female Dachshund who is 11-years-old. My human parents have loved me like a baby since I was a puppy. They aren't able to care for me now, so I'm looking for a new home where I can share my puppy-dog kisses and happy personality! I love people and get along wonderfully with other animals. I'm a curvy girl and plan to lose a few pounds, but otherwise I'm happy, healthy and ready to go!

◄My name is Ivey and I'm a classy-but-sassy, special little girl who just needs a mom or dad who is patient and understanding. I'm 5years-old and heartworm negative. I get along well with other dogs and cats. I just have the need to "fuss" a little when something happens that I don't like, after all, I am the princess of my world! My foster dad says I have exceptional rotating ears, and am totally cute when I walk (think duck waddle). I can be oh-so-affectionate, but am possessive about laps - as long as I’m four on the floor, things are calm. I love taking walks, and treats are my dreams come true! ►I can feel it! My luck is about to change! My name is Jasmine and it’s been a rough patch, but thanks to some rescuers, I’ll be good as new soon. Maybe I can get my own show as the bionicdog since I now have a plate in my back leg to repair a break. Now, I’m up and about, and feeling good! Call if you’d like to meet me, and we can have our ducks in a row for when I’m ready for adoption (mid-late Nov). I’m a 4-year-old girl who weighs 50 pounds. I have lovely white and blonde hair, and the sweetest brown eyes that will melt your heart. If you want to be a part of changing my luck, please let me know!

▲►We are Skye, Storm and Belle. We are sweet little adorable Pit Bull Terrier mixes who are just 6-weeksold. I’m a silver coat girl, Storm is a brown coat baby boy and Belle is a shiney black coat girl. RACE is helping us get ready, then we'll be ready for our furever homes! Just have to take care of vaccines and stuff first. Please let RACE know if you're interested in being a new Mom or Dad!

BEST FRIEND BROTHERS! Hi, we are Jazz and Jaxx and we are best friend brothers who were rescued from a "community cat" colony on Ocean Isle Beach. We were very timid and afraid at first because we were never touched by humans, but our foster parents gave us tons of love and attention, and now we are very loving and playful. We start purring as soon as we see a friendly face. We have been neutered, vaccinated, tested, and even had a nail trim! I (Jazz) got my name from my adorable little goatee and my brother Jaxx is as sweet as can be and loves being petted. We would love to find a furrever home! To meet us, please call Jim at 412-389-7260 or Karen at 910-713-9390.

My name is Phoebe and I joined Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love via a rural shelter, where I was dropped off pregnant with 7 puppies. Now that my babies are grown and no longer require supervision, I have really come out of my shell! I am very gentle and loving and I like to lounge and nap with you and my favorite toys. I also love to lay in the sun and chase my foster brother in the yard. I’m crate-trained and food motivated. My foster mom is working with me on my leash manners and meeting new people. The outside world is scary sometimes but with positive reinforcement and my foster brother, I am learning that I can trust others. My favorite pastime is removing all toys from the toy box, playing with them, and then leaving them all around the house for my foster mom to clean up. They say I’m a very petite Dane who would fit in well in a family who may find a full sized Dane overwhelming. I am currently being fostered with a feline brother and have spent a good amount of time around children. I play very well with other dogs and would do best with another dog as a sibling in my forever home. If you’d like to adopt me, email Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love at for an adoption application. Check out some of our other Great Danes at or call 704-584-9257 for info. I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

New Hanover Humane Society Please call 910-763-6692 to adopt us! ◄I’m a beautiful girl named Luna, and I’m declawed on my front paws. At just 7-months of age, I’m a spayed Calico with a luxurious medium-length coat. I’m also vaccinated, litterboxtrained and feline leukemia negative. I’m a friendly girl, outgoing with people and affectionate on my own terms. I am skittish around dogs, but good with other cats. Come and get acquainted with me!

▲I’m Prince, a handsome 1-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who is friendly and energetic. I am house-trained, I love to go for rides, and I know some basic commands. If you can provide me with a lot of love and be consistent with my training, you’ll have a loyal friend for life! ►It’s me, Ivy! I’m an affectionate girl, very gentle and unassuming. I’m a Pit Bull Terrier mix, about 2-years-old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and more than ready for my forever home. Come meet me and see if you can open your heart and home to a girl who will surely be your very best friend!

Open 10am-2pm Mon-Sat

▲You’ve caught me doing one of my favorite things: exploring and playing with toys in the great outdoors! My name is Bo and I’m an 8-month-old Lab mix youngster with a happy attitude and a zest for life. I’m also vaccinated and eager to find my forever home. I will easily pick up on commands with patience and consistency on the part of my new family. Could that be you? ►My name is Petunia and I’m the sweetest dog you could ever imagine gentle, affectionate, and I love people. I’m about 3-years-old, a Setter/ Pointer mix girl, and I’ve been terribly neglected. I have demodectic mange (it is not contagious) and I’ve tested positive for heartworms. Both of these issues are treatable, and once I am healthy again, I will be an awesome companion for someone just like you! I will repay my new family many times over with love and loyalty for the rest of my life. ◄Hi there, I’m Miss Kitty! I’m a pretty, 5-year-old Tortoiseshell girl. I am spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I’ve lived with other cats and with dogs and I’m okay with both. I am a quiet little girl, and my previous family reports that I’m quite affectionate. I have settled in well at the shelter and acclimated smoothly. I explore the cat room and lounge in the garden window for hours at a time. Come meet me; I may be just the one for you!

All 4 Cats Call or text 910-707-4372 or email to meet us! ►My name is Maya and I’m a gorgeous seal point Tortie. I’m 2½-years-old and a short tail (Manx or Bobtail mix). I’m very friendly. I’m not a playful kitty but I do enjoy being picked up and cuddled. I had my own kittens, who have all been adopted. Now, I mother all the kittens in my foster home. I prefer dogs but am fine around other kitties. I am a laid-back cat but can have my silly moments. I am spayed, vaccinated, and FIV/FeLV negative. ◄Hey, I'm Lemonade. I am about 2½-years-old and have been through a lot in life. I am looking for a very special home with no children or dogs. My foster believes that I was abused. I have pellets under my skin from being shot but they don’t bother me anymore. I am a very shy cat but once I trust you, I become overly loving and very playful. I do need a quiet, understanding home. Could you provide it for me? I am spayed, vaccinated, and FIV/FeLV negative.

Kittens, Kittens, and more Kittens! We have over 40 kittens (aged 4 to 7-months) who are looking for forever homes. ►Hello, my name is Tessa and I’m a 2½year-old Tortoiseshell. I am looking for a family just as sweet and cuddly as me. I enjoy long conversations and hanging out with my people. Do you enjoy long naps and massages? Good, so do I. I’m good with other cats (Tiff is my buddy), but I can be a little shy and would do well in a house that doesn’t have too much commotion. All my kittens have found furever homes, now I want one, too. I’m microchipped, spayed, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative, and microchipped.

►Are you looking for a sweet cuddly girl to cuddle with? Then I am your girl! My name is Tiff and I enjoy chasing after strings and laser lights. I am a great hunter and will keep your home fly-free, while providing an amazing wake up service. Despite being FIV positive, I am a very healthy kitty. In fact, being FIV positive doesn't mean I won’t live a normal cat life. With a healthy diet and regular vet visits, I can thrive like any normal cat. Also, I can still live with other kitties who are passive, spayed/ neutered and indoors. I really enjoy the company of other kitty companions. Pet Supplies Plus is providing my new family with a basket filled with all kinds of goodies from food to toys, litter and even a gift card. I am spayed, microchipped, up to date on everything and FeLV negative. ►My name is Lexus and I’m a long-haired, white and black, 2½-year-old beauty. Now that I have finished raising my babies, I am finally ready to find my forever home. I’m very easy-going. I keep to myself, for the most part, and get along with all my foster family’s animals. I really enjoy a good head and shoulder scratch, along with a good conversation. I’m fine with cats, dogs and kids. I prefer a quieter home but will adjust to a busy one with time. My favorite toy is a fabric ball. I enjoy it so much that I talk to it and carry it around the house. I’m more playful in the evening and enjoy napping during the day. Please adopt me. ◄Hey, Ricotta here. I am looking for my Furever home. I had a huge litter of 7 babies, so I would enjoy a laid back home as I could use a break. I can live with other laid back cats but no dogs, as they make me very nervous. I am currently fostered with kids and am fine with that. I am about 2-years-old and a beautiful Calico. I am an easy-going cat who enjoys just binge watching Netflix with you on the couch. We can do nothing on Saturdays and cuddle together on the couch. I am spayed, up to date on everything and FIV/FeLV negative. Can we start our movie marathon yet?

Aren’t I adorable? My name is Thor and I’m a 2-year-old Lab/Hound mix boy. I love to play with anyone and anything that comes around me. In fact, I can keep myself entertained, especially if I have one of those fluffy things that you squeeze to make a high-pitched noise! Those are so fun! I want to be active, but right now I’m limited to leash walking. I’m still recovering from ACL surgery in early summer. But don’t worry, I’m ready to be adopted and I’ll be as good as new very soon. I love to go on long walks because they help me build up my muscles. Walks are also good for interesting smells and greeting other dogs with wagging tails - it’s the most exciting part of my day! I’m a very smart and handsome boy, if I do say so myself. People are always stopping me and asking what my name is. Well, it’s Thor, so remember to ask for me when you come out for a visit! You can also call Paws Place at 910-845-7297 with any questions. I am sponsored in loving memory of Grace Harrington.

SOAR (Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue) Please call 910-457-6340 to adopt us! ◄I’m Sir James! Not every kitty gets such a regal name as me, but after wandering around on my own and being so young (I’m 6-months-old) I deserve it! The ladies at SOAR had a challenge getting a picture of me because I won’t sit still long enough. It’s not because I play a lot, it’s because I want you to be touching and holding me all the time! I’m a very sweet boy who is neutered and vaccinated. I tested negative for FIV and FeLV! If you want a love bug - I’m your man!

◄Allow me to introduce myself! I am Angel! And though my halo may be a little crooked I am one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet! They think I am a Bulldog/Lab mix and I am 1½-years-old. Just so you know - I am a very strong girl so please be sure you can handle me before you decide I would be your perfect companion. I am looking forward to meeting you very soon! ◄Ahoy! My name is Skipper and they think I am a Shar Pei /Collie mix. Well, they may not be sure about my lineage but they DO know for sure that I am a super-sweet boy! I turned 3-years-old at the end of September and I tested negative for heartworms and I am fully vaccinated! All I need now is a yard to run and play in and a family to love me furever and ever!

►Well heeelllo! I’m Buster and I just had my very first birthday! I made a wish on my birthday cake candle that I would find my forever family soon! I’m gonna be a pretty big boy and they say I’m a Lab/Boxer mix. Eating and playing are at the top of my priority list and, of course, giving puppy kisses. Won’t you come meet me at the shelter? ◄Hello , PawPrints readers! I'm Murphy, a super-sweet kitten boy who is ready for my FUREVER home! The awesome people at SOAR have already moved me into the open-area cat room so that I can get used to the other kitties (you know, just in case you already have one!). Like the other kittens on this page, I am fixed, vaccinated and litterboxtrained. All I need to make my life complete is YOU! Please visit and see for yourself how simply adorable I am.

▲Bonjour! I'm Lovie, and yes, the name fits! I don't always like to be picked up and held, but I love to cuddle and roll around while you pet me. I will even let you rub my belly! My vet visits have all gone well and I am spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I didn't bring a lot with me when I came to SOAR and I don't have a lot to take home, so I can be packed and ready to go quickly! But hurry, Lovies like me don't last long!

My name is Melle and I’m a Rat Terrier. I am 9-years-old and weigh 8.4 pounds. I was surrendered by my owner and I’m ready to find what they tell me is a forever family. I am house-trained, if you let me out enough and watch to make sure that I go. If you don’t watch me, I will sit by the door. What can I say, I like an audience. I’m not too fond of felines so I’d like a cat-free home. I am very attentive and sit on command. I’m always close by but never under foot. I accept dogs of all sizes as long as they understand that I rank above them. I’m an enthusiastic eater, avid insect hunter and skilled crumb catcher. I will bark at neighbor dogs, the doorbell and when guests come in but I don’t bark just to be barking. I’m vaccinated, on heartworm preventative, spayed and just received a dental. If I do say so myself, I’m a pretty cool little dog! To fill out an adoption application, call Chihuahua Rescue & Transport at 910-297-6874, email or visit I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

My name is Freddie! I hear other dogs bark about going to their “furever home.” I am almost 9-years-old and have been in foster care and boarding for almost my entire life, which in human years is 42-years. Could you be my furever? I was actually born into the rescue, when my pregnant mom (a full-blooded Basset) delivered me and my siblings. My dad wasn’t committed to the relationship, and all I know is that he was not a Basset. He might have just been “nothing but a hound dog.” The result is that I’m at a bit of disadvantage being a mix in an otherwise Basset world. I am naturally a little anxious and nervous, mostly around new people. I need a steady environment with some structure, patience, and love. I would be better off in a home without small children because I can be a little rambunctious. I might also be better as an only dog. Otherwise, I am a really good boy. I love to play outside, chase a ball, and would enjoy being in an active home. I am no couch potato! Even though I don’t fit the mold of a typical Basset, I have my own unique attributes! So, if you are looking for a fun loving, kinda’ Basset, who will be ever-loving and grateful for a permanent home, please give me a chance. Visit the Carolina Basset Hound Rescue website at or call 888-909-2387 You won’t be sorry you did!

CAT: Cat Adoption Team Please call 910-792-9014 to adopt us! ◄Hi there, I’m Jesse! I’m a gentle and sweet Orange Tabby girl, just a little over 1-year-old. My son, Dennis, is also featured on this page! I’m still so playful and so very deserving of a wonderful home. I just love my kittens and my foster mom. I also love toys and stretching out in front of a sunny window. In fact, I’m interested in just about anything that involves toys and you! Come meet me today, please! ◄It’s me, Citron, the brother to Sparkles and Diamond, who are also pictured on this page. I’m a stunningly beautiful boy with the most unique markings, and everyone just loves my expressive face! At a mere 5-months-old, I’m fully vaccinated and neutered. Please consider adopting me with one of my siblings since a pair of kittens are half the work. We will entertain each other, have someone our own age to learn with and be besties for life!

▲Hi, I’m Diamond, a 5-month-old boy with stunning fur that reminds everyone of a mini-tiger. You really must see the pattern in person to appreciate it. I even have orange tabby stripes on my belly! Like my brother Citron and sister Sparkles (who are also featured on this page), I have the biggest purr and personality. When I’m not perched at a window or running around with my siblings, I’m in search of a snuggly lap and a loving, forever home.

Wilmington, NC

We’re at Petsmart 7 days a week. ◄Hi there everyone! I’m Sparkles, the only girl in a kitten trio that includes my brothers Diamond and Citron (pictured also on this page.) I’m a mere 5-months-old and not as boisterous as my siblings, but I hold my own when strings, feathers, wands and kitty tents are available for playtime. I have the tiniest little meow and a very gentle nature. I love to be held and it’s hard to resist me with my velvety fur and sweet little purr. Please come visit me and my brothers at the adoption center! ◄Hi, I’m Dennis, a handsome 6-monthold buff tabby boy. Jesse, pictured also on this page, is my mom! Like her, I just love my people and also my sister, Penny (not pictured). My favorite things to play with are kitty toys, crumpled-up balls of paper, and my foster Mom’s toes! I enjoy hearing the laughter that comes with tickling toes! Please take me home to snuggle with. I’ll tickle you with love, too.

►Momma Cat is my name, and I’m one of the young mother cats (just 1½-years-old) who often gets overlooked amongst all the kittens. I have a silky gray fur coat with snow-white fur on my chest. I was found in the insulation of a house where I’d made a safe, comfy nest for my five kittens. I was a very nurturing mother, and now that they’ve all found homes it’s my turn for some much-needed and appreciated snuggles. I’m a wonderful girl who can be a bit shy at first, but with some encouragement and affection I warm right up to folks. Please visit me and give me a chance for a new home - I so deserve it! I’m a sweet kitty boy named Django and, as you can see, I’m great with kids and enjoy being held! I arrived at the rescue with severely broken legs but, after undergoing surgery and lots of rest, I am completely healed and ready to go home with my new family! I am 6-years-old, neutered, vaccinated and Feline Leukemia/FIV negative. I like EVERYONE and I’m very loving. I enjoy children, I’m friendly to other cats and I’m pretty indifferent with dogs. I will rub and purr on you all day long, if you let me! To learn more about adopting me, please email or call 910-256-2624 and ask to speak with Heather.

Hi everyone! My name is Wilson Pickett! Funny name, huh? Well, I’m a funny boy so it fits! I’m just an all-around happy fellow all the time. Nothing can get me down. Hard to believe that when I first came to the shelter, I was completely emaciated and also had heartworms and skin problems. But the people here at Paws Place turned my luck around! I’m already a healthy 55 pounds and my skin looks great. Not bad for a 7-yearold! Soon I will start my heartworm treatments. I can still be adopted before my treatment is completed, however. Maybe you can be the extra special someone to make me really lucky! I’m sweet on people, but not sure about other dogs. If I’m happy now, can you imagine how happy I’ll be when I’m at my best? Won’t you come give me a chance? Call Paws Place at 910-845-7297 to inquire about meeting me.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).

I am sponsored in honor of all the people who lovingly care for the dogs at Paws Place.

Adopt-An-ANGEL Please call 910-392-0557 to adopt us! ◄EASY DOG ALERT!! My name is Baloo and I am a fantastic senior dog. I am 12-years-old and still have lots of life left in me. I lived with another dog who has already been adopted. I am homeless because my owner died and I ended up at a county shelter. I have not lived with a cat. I am a pretty brindle Shepherd mix. I could have some Dutch Shepherd in me. I am friendly and so sweet and deserving. I am house-trained and am completely over any ridiculous puppy antics. Call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783 to meet me or come to Petco on weekends. ►My name is Scooby and I have a very sad story to tell. Someone put me in a plastic bag and left me at Petsense in Leland. I am very lucky to be alive. My foster mom took me in and socialized me and taught me that people are not all bad. I'm sweet, playful and sometimes shy. I’m fixed and current on all my kitty vaccinations. Please come and meet me at Petsense in Leland or call my foster mom, Jackie, at 910-523-9719. ►My name is Patsy and I’m a dilute Tortoiseshell cat who is 2-years-old. I would like a calm, quiet home with older kids (if any at all). If I could choose my dream home, I would prefer to be the only pet. Of course, I would take anybody who has a patient heart because I can learn to get along with anyone. I am having a hard time continuing to live in a pet store week after week. I am so ready for my home so I can finally rest. Call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-6203783 to meet me or come see me at Petco.

►Hello, and pleased to meet you! My name is Tiger and I am a handsome 10-year-old guy who was left homeless when my owners moved. They left me behind to fend for myself and I couldn't. I seem to get along with everybody and I'm very laid-back. I am up to date on all vaccinations and neutered and just need a fairly quieter home to enjoy and call my own. I would love to have a home again where I could chill, watch TV and sit with my humans. Please open up your home and your heart to me! I do well with cats but not really dogs. If you would like to meet me, please call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783. ►HEY!! STOP!! DON’T TURN THE PAGE!! I’m super-kitty with super powers of love. My name is Marvel and I am a an adult male cat who is about 2-years-old. I do great with cats and kids, but may not adjust to a dog so well. I am drop dead gorgeous with my shiny, sleek fur and my slender figure. I am a true house panther who is super friendly and just awesome. I have been overlooked all summer as people scooped up cute, younger kittens and just walked on by at all the adoption fairs. Their loss could be your gain! If you would like to meet me, please call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783. ◄My name is Smokey and I'm happy to meet you! I’m a very nice, 35 pound mix who is neutered, vaccinated and heartworm negative. My owner was put in a nursing home so now I must find a new home. I would be best in an adult-only home and can do fine with animals, but please separate to feed me if you have other pets in your home. Please call my foster mom, Sherry, at 910-523-1254 to meet me.

An “EASY” dog that’s what my friends at the shelter call me! Take a look at my photo and you’ll see one reason why. I follow commands like a champ and sit for treats! I also get an A+ in housetraining and leashwalking. My name is Niya and I’m a 2-year-old Pit mix girl who has been patiently waiting for a family since February of this year. I can’t understand why I’ve been overlooked and it’s making me so sad. I have such a friendly personality and so much love to give. I’m just a delight! I’m also in great health. A wonderful girl like me shouldn’t be living in a shelter month after month - I hope you’re one of those people who recognize a gem when you see one! Please call Pender Humane Society at 910-259-7022 and ask them any questions. Better yet, stop in and meet me! I am sponsored by the Furry Friends Re-sale Shop in honor and memory of all the animals who've passed through the doors of Pender Humane Society.

My name is Cookie (A035790)! I’m a 3-year-old Feist mix girl who is petite and sweet! I was found as a stray with my friend, Bella, who is also pictured below. We get along very well, but we do not have to be adopted together. I can’t wait to be part of a loving family! Please come meet me at Pender County Animal Shelter. If you have any questions, you can call 910-259-1484 or send an email to

My name is Bella (A035788)! I’m an adorable Dachshund mix girl who is quite bewildered at finding myself in a shelter. I was once a stray with my buddy, Cookie, who is also pictured above. We do not have to be adopted together, two loving homes would be great for us! I’m 3-years-old, spayed and vaccinated. Please visit me at Pender County Animal Shelter. You can email or call 910-259-1484 with questions.

My name is Dash, and they think I'm about 9-years-old. I LOVE my human. I love my human more than squirrels and food and maybe even sleep! I was found as a stray and no one came for me. I am house-trained and very wellmannered! I sit and kiss and I will sleep on your head if you want me to! I was super skinny when I came to rescue but have put on three pounds and now weigh 18 pounds. I am scared of thunder storms and will find a way out of your yard if it’s not secure. Thus, you must have a secure yard to adopt me. I'm not sure about cats but I like dogs, especially the ladies. I was recently neutered, had a dental (where they removed 3 teeth), have had all vaccines and am heartworm negative! I would love to find that person who will be my forever person! To adopt me or to see other Jack Russell Terriers looking for homes, email Russell Rescue Inc. Carolinas at, call 910-821-3504 to leave a message, or visit us online at

My name is Daphne. My 2 littermates and I were left in a box at Petsense in Leland when we were just 4weeks-old. That was several months ago and no one has shown any interest in me at all. I am spayed and current on vaccinations. They tell me that I’m a plain Tabby and that we are a dime a dozen. They are wrong to move past me in favor of Siamese or longer haired ones. I'm very playful, curious and love people. Won't you please come adopt me? I am a young teenager, but still very much a cute kitten. Come meet me at Petsense in Leland or call my foster mom, Jackie, at 910-523-9719. For more information or to inquire about the adoption process, please call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557 or visit

◄Looking for a young, active pup? That could be me, Gilligan, or my twin brother, Griffin. That’s right, there are two of us, double the pleasure! We love to meet people and at 6-months of age and 43 pounds, we are also learning some manners. You know, the basic kind like walking on a leash and sitting for a treat. Must admit with the two of us together, it’s a challenge for the volunteers. Although we do enjoy playing together, we like our time separate. You know, it gives us a chance to develop our own personality. As they say, we are ready to go. So we hope you will drop by real soon and ask to see the twins!

▲Looking for a lap dog? If size doesn't matter, come meet me, Shiloh. I’m a 2-year-old, 55 pound American Bulldog mix. When I arrived at the shelter, I was skinny and hungry. But as the kind folks here helped me and fed me, it was like a light bulb went off and I realized I could trust people! I even enjoy taking baths and drinking water from the hose. Hope you will hop in the car and come out to meet me real soon! I most definitely deserve a family to call my very own.

◄Dale is the name, and I’m a happy boy! Why wouldn’t I be? I love interacting with people and am ready to meet my new family at Paws Place! Did you know that the Plott Hound is the State Dog of NC? Well, I’m a 2-year-old, 55 pound Plott Hound mix. I’m also vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready to go. If you are an active family looking for a dog to share your life with, I’m your boy! ◄I’m Tripp, and I’m a people-lover! When I first see people, I bark with excitement but my tail is going a mile a minute. I walk well on a leash, am crate-trained and I also want to play with other dogs. I am 9-monthsold and a little guy (just 30 pounds) with a big heart. Do you have a big heart? If so, maybe you have room for me. Come on out to meet me! ◄I’m Niko, a 3-year-old, 45 pound All-American boy! Are you in the market for an easy-going, mature dog? You are? I may be the match for you. As they say, I’m flexible. You want to chill, I can chill. You want to walk, I’m right there with you. I can be a little shy or timid about new situations, but you can teach me all about new things and to not be afraid. That’s what loving families do right – they help each other learn and grow. Come check me out and see if we are a good fit! ►Hey, it's me, Nina! Or Nina-Banina as I am sometimes called. I want the world to know that I have completed my heart worm treatment and I have been cleared to run and play! And guess what that is what I love to do. I'm a 5-year-old short Pitty, 60 pounds, and I get along with other dogs, but I do prefer the ones that are similar in size. Oh, and I would prefer a home without cats or small animals. Come visit and get to know me!

I’m a handsome, large, traditional black, gray and cream colored Tabby. I am vaccinated and neutered and live up to my name as I’m super-friendly and loveable. Hello! My name is Domino. As you can see, I am a portly gentleman with very nice markings. I am about 3-years-old with a gentle and loving personality. I enjoy having a human to interact with and I am fine with other cats. I am FIV positive but healthy and happy. I live at a nice sanctuary where they take good care of me, but I would really like a nice home and human to call my own. Won’t you give me a chance? I’m Nacho, a 2-monthold orange-haired darling who loves to play with my brothers (Cheeto and Doodle, pictured on this page). When I’m not playing with them, I enjoy being cuddled by the humans. Like my brothers, I’m neutered, vaccinated and a litter box pro. Adopt me! ◄I’m a very happy Hound boy and my name is Marshall! My fur is chocolate and cream and I’m just 5-yearsold. I’m looking for a wonderful family to love me, and also a fenced-in yard to run and play. Do you have a yard like that? As for my health, it’s great! I’m neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Come over and let’s take a walk. You’ll quickly see I’m a great family companion!

Aging Pets and Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome Daniel Houlihan, DVM with Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital As veterinary medicine continues to improve, vets find themselves faced with a new set of health concerns specific to an older population of dogs and cats. Arthritis, cancer, and chronic diseases of the kidneys and liver, are just some of the more well-known disease processes that seem to be pop up more frequently as the pet population ages. While veterinarians focus a lot of their attention on these diseases, there is a more common disease that frequently gets ignored. Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS) or more simply cognitive dysfunction, is a common disease of the brain that effects upwards of 40% of dogs and cats above the age of 14. Similar to Alzheimer’s disease in the human population, CDS is suspected to be caused by a buildup of plaques in the frontal lobe or front part of the brain. Since there are no specific tests for this disease, it is considered a disease of exclusion, which means your veterinarian will likely try to rule out other medical causes before settling on a diagnosis of CDS. Signs of CDS, previously attributed to age related changes, can be remembered by the acronym DISHAA. Disorientation – stopping in the middle of the room mid walk, or getting lost in a corner. Interactions – avoidance, or decreased interaction with owners. Sleep – reversal of sleep cycle leading to restless nights and sleep filled days. House soiling. Decreased Activity, or lethargy, and finally an increase in Anxiety, especially when owners leave or are not nearby their pet, are all signs of CDS. CDS can be a frustrating disease for both owners and their pets. It can lead to extra house cleaning from accidents, sleepless nights and concern about the quality life of our senior pets. While there are no treatments for CDS, there are various options available to help cope with clinical signs. Prescription diets geared towards brain health are available for dogs which have been proven to decrease signs of CDS. Similarly, there are numerous treatments ranging from natural supplements to medications that can be used to help keep your pet comfortable, decrease house soiling and provide a goodnights sleep. If you think your cat or dog may be showing signs of CDS, please set up a visit with your local veterinarian to discuss potential treatment options. Even something as simple as a diet change can increase the quality of life of your pet and keep your Golden’s golden years golden (that one’s for you Tuna). Dr. Dan Houlihan grew up outside of Philadelphia and received his B.S. degree in Animal Science from the University of Tennessee in 2010. He then attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2014 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and has worked in small animal practice since. Dr. Houlihan's interests include client education, ophthalmology and dermatology. When he's not working, he enjoys fishing, woodworking and collecting early U.S. coins. He currently lives in Wilmington with his partner, Brett, two cats (Hops and Barley) and a golden puppy, Tuna.

Cat Tails Please call 910-253-1375 to adopt us! ◄I love toys! I chase them, I bat them around, I jump on them, and I play tug-o-war with them. My favorite toy right now is a speckled trout. It used to be attached to a stick by a string, but the person didn’t know how high I could jump. Now, it’s mine! People laugh when I carry it around, but I like it! Adopt me, Spike, and I’ll bring my trout with me. We can share it! I’m fixed and vaccinated and ready to go home with you. ►Love Calicos? I’m Penny. I was only a couple of weeks old when a police officer found me on the side of Highway 17. Luckily, he took me to Cat Tails and they sent me to a foster home. That’s where I learned to play, which I do all the time and where I met my best friend, Benny (pictured on the bottom right side of this page). Now I’m 3-months-old and ready for a forever home. I hope that Benny can come, too! ◄My name is Kaol - it’s pronounced like the vegetable: Kale. I might be the cat that most people are searching for. You want beautiful? I’m light shimmery gray and very handsome. You want friendly? I love people and I get along well with other cats, too. You want a cat who’s old enough to know how to behave? I’m 9-months-old. Perfect, right?

◄Hello. I’m Maui and I’m a beautiful, longhaired, black and white 6-month-old kitten. I’m named for one of the Hawaiian Islands and if you adopt me, we can dream of taking an island vacation together. Aaah, I can already feel the tropical breezes blowing through my hair. ►Just look at this face! Can’t you tell that I have oodles of personality? Plus, I love people. I love to play and I love to be held and cuddled. And, I’m only 6months-old. If you think this is exactly what you’ve been looking for, come in and ask for me, Fig. ◄Do you know what people say about me? They say that I’m super sweet and that I have a wonderful purr. They also say I have huge, beautiful eyes. They say I’m a Torbie, that’s a Tabby with Tortie coloring. They say my name is Piper and that I’m 6-months-old. If you adopt me, people would be saying all these nice things about your cat! ►I’m Benny. I’m 3-months-old now but I was only 3-weeks-old when I met Penny (pictured on the left side of this page). We’re great friends! My mom left me under a shed and I was lucky someone found me and took me to Cat Tails. They sent me to a foster home and the rest, as they say, is history. Now, I’m looking for a forever home and hoping that Penny can come, too.

URGENT, URGENT! My Time Is Running Out!

Hello, my name is Blondie (A117389), and while that might lead you to believe I’m a girl, I’m actually a fabulous 6-month-old buffcolored Tabby boy! I am calm and quiet, loving and sweet. And wow, am I one handsome fellow! I will quickly charm you, grab your attention and keep it! I hope you’ll ride over to the shelter and meet me because I’m all prepared to go home. I’m already neutered and my adoption fee includes a physical examination, feline leukemia/FIV test and a rabies vaccination. For driving directions or more information, please call Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204. See you soon! I am sponsored by Adam's Folly Pet Boarding, Bolivia, NC. Thank you!

It’s me, Dino the Dachshund mix (A035789), and I’m all dressed up in this costume to get noticed! Has it worked? I’m really cute, that’s what everyone says, and I’m really friendly, too, so I think I’d be a heart-stealer even without playing dress-up. I’m a 3-year-old boy who was found as a stray, just wandering around with two other pups. Well, that shows I get along with other dogs! I’m looking for a loving home where I can be cuddled and treated like the sweetheart I am. We’ll have lots of adventures together, or we can just nap on the couch, it’s all good to me! But please hurry, dogs arrive at the shelter every day and there’s just not enough room for us all. The shelter is open 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday, Noon to 4pm on Saturday and 1pm to 4pm on Sundays. For driving directions or more info, call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1484 or email I am sponsored in loving memory of Hank Harrington. My name is Camilla and I have been homeless since last September. That's September of 2018. I had a litter of kittens who came of age at Christmas and there was a mass frenzy of adopters wanting them as Christmas presents. My original foster home actually kept two of them. I wasn't the best mom and when I tried to wean my kittens, I would bat at them to get them to stay away. My original foster mom asked that the group move me away from my kittens and so I moved into another foster home. So, I began the circuit to look for a home. I have been to Petco, to Petsense in Shallotte and in and out of foster care. I am a really, really nice cat and so beautiful. I can live with cats, if you go slow on the introduction. I don't particularly like dogs so much and I would do best with older kids if at all. I am a drop dead gorgeous pastel Calico who is approximately 3-yearsold. If you would like to meet me, call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783. For more info, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557 or visit I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies & daddies who care for homeless animals.

Breed Rescues We are all from different Breed Rescues. Please read our stories! CHIHUAHUA RESCUE & TRANSPORT - SOUTHEAST

My name is Momo and I’m a 10-year-old, 9 pound Chihuahua. I came to CRT from a shelter along with my best friend. Unfortunately, he was in such poor condition that he was humanely euthanized. Now, I’m super lonely and need a buddy to hang out with. I am a very sweet guy who loves to go outside. I also love all the attention that I can get. I am current on vaccinations, neutered and on heartworm preventative. Is there any chance you could give me the best years of my life? To fill out an adoption application, call 910-297-6874, send an email to or visit

My name is Barney and I need you! I am 4-years-old (that's one paw) and 22 pounds of LOVE! I could be an only pup, or in a home with a pup who won't back down and would put me in my place. If you have JRT knowledge or experience, we should probably meet! I display a natural Terrier prey drive so no small animals or cats. I would be good at learning agility as I’m extremely smart and eager to please. I’m microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and crate-trained. To adopt me, email, call 910-821-3504 to leave a message, or visit us at

Hi, I'm Maggie! I am a young lady (approximately 3-years-old) with a joyful energy! I am best suited for a home with older kids (12+) because I can get a little too playful. I am not sure that I like to be part of a pack so the best house for me does not have any other four-legged family members. My foster mom is working with me on my house-training and house manners. She says that I am a smart girl and catch on quickly. I really love my people and I like to snuggle and cuddle with them as much as they will let me. To meet me, please call 888-909-2387 or visit

I'm Willow, a pint sized ball of energy and love. My foster mom is teaching me lots and I've already learned so much! I like playing with my foster brother and chasing the ball in the yard. When it's rest time, I like to chew on a bone or Kong in my crate and then stretch out for a good nap. I like going on walks in the neighborhood. I tested ok with cats but foster mom thinks I should be in a home with no cats or with one who is savvy with dog buddies like me. I get very excited about playing with my human friends, so I would fit best in a house without small kids. I'm a fun little lady who would make a great sidekick! For an explanation of our adoption process, application, and fees, email, visit, or call 336-618-PITT.

I’m Tori-Doo, a fine silver haired lady. I get along well with all dogs and children. I just turned 11 but don’t let that deter you, I have plenty of spunk left. I am healthy and I love to go on walks. I’m very friendly and love everyone I meet. I sleep beside the bed nightly and never get up until morning. When left alone in the house, I can be trusted to never get into anything. I’m content being with my people, will follow you everywhere and live to cuddle. I’d do best with someone who is home most of the day or who can take me to work with them. If I sound like your cup of tea, email, 910-799-5638 or visit

There I was, sitting in the corner at animal control, not eating or drinking after my family dropped me off. My name is Cosmo and I’m an adult mini-Schnauzer who broke the hearts of my friends at the Schnauzer rescue. They could not wait to help me. Now I’m available for adoption after receiving lots of love, understanding and care from my foster parents. I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. To fill out an application, visit Email or call 919-723-7145 for more information.

November 2019 39

My name is Humphrey and I am a 5-year-old little guy who weighs just 22 pounds. I was found as a stray turned in to a county shelter where I went unclaimed. As you can see, I am adorable! I have a little bit of energy so a fenced in yard would definitely be helpful. They describe me as having kind of a big personality for a little dog so don't be fooled by my size. I could be a Corgi mix, but there is no telling what mix of breeds I really am. I do well with other dogs and I like to play with them. When I’m not in the mood to play, I just ignore them. Come meet me at Petco on weekends or call my foster mom, Jill, at 910-620-3783. For more information or to inquire about the adoption process, please call Adopt-AnANGEL at 910-392-0557 or visit I am sponsored in loving memory of KC, Babe, Grace, Beauty, Frodo, Sassy, Max, Twinkle, Casper, Coach, Flower, Nell, Duffy, Melody, Whisper, and Raspberry.

My name is Cinnamon and I am a beautiful 9-month-old dark Tortie who was thrown outside from an uncaring and abusive home in Shallotte. I was rescued by a warmhearted neighbor and am currently being cared for by a foster family. I am very loveable and gentle, and have been spayed, vaccinated for rabies and fvrcp, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and have been treated for fleas and ticks. My foster parents even gave me a nail trim which I didn’t mind at all! I love giving head butts and curling up in your lap. I didn’t have a very good start to my life, but it didn’t change my sweet disposition. I will make a wonderful companion to a loving forever home If you would like to meet me, call Jim at 412-389-7260 or Karen at 910-713-9390. P.S. My foster parent also says, “Cinnamon has one of the most attractive personalities I have ever seen in a cat. I was told Torties tend to be Divas, and Cinnamon is the queen! She is loving, very playful (loves playing hide and seek by jumping out and curling around my legs) and is very vocal. She will make a great best friend!”

I am adventurous, curious and I love other cats. Don’t worry, everyone thinks I’ll grow into these big ears, long legs and tail in no time! I’m also neutered, vaccinated and litterboxtrained. Pleased to meet you, I’m Hannah! I’m a very sweet 4-month-old Pit mix girl. Like all young pups, I love attention and walking outside and cuddling with humans. Unfortunately, I have a heart condition that makes me unique. It’s called SAS, or severe subaortic stenosis. It’s incurable and my life will be shorter than the average dog. I’m looking for a special home where my family will understand that I can have a good quality of life with the help of medications and careful observations for signs of my heart disease. And let’s not forget, my heart functions at 100% capacity when it comes to giving love! If you’d like to talk to my shelter friends about me, please call Pender Humane Society at 910-259-7022. I’m Prince Charming! I am sure to steal your heart and my purr will definitely wake you from your enchanted sleep. I came to CARE with a broken femur. I had shown up at another rescue who did not have the funds to treat me, but everyone knew my personality would win the heart of a loving family. Now that I’m all healed up, I’m ready to make my fantasy a reality and find a forever home. I’m approximately 4-years-old, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and Feline Leukemia/FIV negative. Please send an email to or call 910-256-2624 if you are interested in learning more or adopting me! I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).

My name is Bruno but my nickname is “B”, which also stands for BULLETPROOF! I was roughing it on my own and found myself at the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s all a little fuzzy for me after that. I woke up with 3 legs, but it all worked out because I didn’t let it break my spirit. I’m a really simple guy and it doesn’t take much for me to bust out in a big pittie smile. Bones, toys, and treats all spark joy! I want to follow the rules and I have excellent house manners. The hoomans tell me I’m a really good listener. Bonus: when I do what they tell me, I can get treats! I really like treats and I get to show off all of my smarts! I forget sometimes that I have 3 legs and I don’t let it slow me down too much! I’m really good at running around the yard to check the perimeter. Walks are super fun. I might need a few rest breaks along the way, but it gives me more time outside! It takes me a little time to trust because not all hoomans were nice in my pre-Merit life, but I’m so worth the wait! I have so much love to give! My foster mom is helping build my confidence and showing me how many wonderful hoomans there are to meet! I am the absolute BEST snuggle buddy and I’ve been told I’m the cutest couch potato. Naps and Netflix binges? Sign me up! Parks and Rec is my favorite show because I like to watch my doppelganger, Champion. I’d enjoy a dog sibling because I like to play, but it would be ok if I got all of the attention! For info on our adoption process, application, and fees, email, visit, or give Merit Pit Bull Foundation a call at 336-618-PITT. I am sponsored by Robyn Davis in loving memory of Duncan.

Onslow County Animal Services Call 910-937-1164 or 910-455-0182 or email to adopt! ◄My name is Felicity (42700907) and I’m a very laid-back kind of gal. I like to nap and stretch and cuddle and get behind-the-ears scratches. At just 1-year-old, I have a gorgeous coat and the cutest nose. I will be an amazing companion cat. The adoption hours at the shelter are Tuesday through Friday from Noon to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Please come get me! ►No one knows how it is that a marvelous kitty (such as myself) has not found a home. My name is Mabel (42932962) and I’m as sweet as can be and just brimming with catitude. I love giving head butts and nuzzles to my humans, and seem to prefer being upside-down. I can be found wrong-side up and napping on my cozy blanket. I keep everyone here entertained with my playtime tricks and flips. I am a wonderful cat and would be a terrific addition to any home.

►I’m a pretty and petite dilute Calico named Kahlo (42960134). I had a bit of a tough time before I came to OCAS. I was found on a construction site and covered in paint! I am feeling much better these days and I’m looking for a family to love. I’m a tiny girl – just 6 pounds. Even though I’m about 3-years-old, I still look quite like a kitten. I am a little shy and need a little time and patience to be confident around new people. Just a little TLC and I will shine. I am up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped and ready to go home with you. ►Looking for a more mature feline friend? My name is Archie (42872155). I’m a buff and white (and handsome) tiger and I’m the boy for you. I’m an absolute sweetheart who loves snuggling with stuffed toys. I adore breakfast (and lunch and dinner) time! I am 6-years-old, which can make it difficult in the shelter to get noticed. But I’m a gentle boy who is so deserving of a second chance. I would most likely prefer a quieter home without a lot of chaos – a place where I can stretch out stress-free and enjoy the finer things – a full food bowl, a snuggly friend and a place to call my own. ◄I’m a fun and silly boy named Malcolm (42600326). I’m 3years-old and full of zest for life. I love attention and I’m a very playful boy. Just check out the “knee high socks" on my back feet and the “ankle socks” on my front feet. I have such unique markings. If you are looking for a feline companion with lots of personality, your search has been successful! Adopt me!
