Hi, my name is Twist and I’m a 1½-year-old Tabby gentleman. I am a very easy-going cat who would love to complete your home. I get along well with other felines but I’ve never been around dogs.

I will even tolerate young kids holding me. My foster mom says that I’m the “Papa Bear” of the house because I follow the kids around like a family dog and make sure they’re safe. Whenever they’re in the yard, I’m usually lounging nearby, keeping watch over them.

I also take care of the other homeless foster kittens.

I keep them clean with tongue baths and make sure they stay in line. I love pretty much all types of toys from dangly catnip toys to laser pointers, but catnip toys are my preferred entertainment. I do get a little excited when I see another dog on a leash, and I can get a little vocal, but I just want to play! I am pretty good with cats, too. There are 8 here and I may try to get close, but not too close. I am working on going potty outside, and it's been pretty easy here because there is a doggy door, so I can go out whenever I want to, but sometimes I make a mistake.

We don't mind the crate, because we have lots of toys to play with, but we sure do like when it's time to come out and run and play with all the other dogs! My name is Willow and I’m a 5-year-old Pit Bull and Labrador Retriever mix. I was in the shelter and a nice lady got me out and they have been trying to find me a home for a year and a half. Yes, you read that right, I have been living at a foster home for a year and a half, and I really want to find a home where someone will love me and who thinks I'm as great as my foster mom thinks I am! Hi, my name is Athena.

I am a 3-year-old, 82 pound, female Mastiff who was rescued along with several other dogs living in horrific conditions. As a result, both of my knees required surgery for ACL tears. I am on the homestretch in recovery, just a little longer with restricted activity of no running or jumping. My foster mom says I’m near perfection!

I drool a bit sometimes but otherwise, I am house-trained and obedient, I enjoy all dogs and children, I have no interest in cats (other than a sniff), I play independently with toys and I ride well in a car. I’m also quiet, non-destructive, friendly, easy-going, leash-trained and more than anything, I love to be near humans. They have referred to me as a Velcro dog. The vet told me that I’m fully blind in my right eye and can see about 25-50% with my left eye. Since I’m a mature gentleman, I take a joint supplement and arthritis medicine twice a day. I love eating, I play well with older dogs and I enjoy a good belly rub. I like to carry my bone around with me and I’m comfortable sleeping in my crate. At night, I like to chill with my dental chews while I watch a good movie. Honestly, it doesn’t even have to be a good movie as long as I’m by your side. Originally, I was at Animal Services but being older, my foster mom stepped up to help me. She is taking really good care of me and getting my meds, supplements and medical care covered so I’m ready to become part of your family. I was prone to bite when I first arrived but now that I’m on arthritis meds, I’m an overall happy old man. I am neutered, heartworm negative, and on heartworm and flea prevention. We can finally settle the debate! Some humans have been talking about my look alike, Vin Diesel. You know, the tough guy from The Fast and the Furious series who is also trying to steal my name! The humans say he has big, brown chocolate eyes and a cute little nose just like me! I must respectfully disagree! I have never seen the guy, but who can be cuter than me? I am the cutest Diesel there is and I am not sharing my spotlight! At 3-years-old, I’m a stunning 57-pound brindle boy! Pender County Humane Society is in desperate need of kennel workers for both weekdays and weekends. Christmas at Animal Lovers Thrift Store

Every afternoon from 2pm to 4pm (flexible), come enjoy some playtime with the kitties at Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab (FURR). Just a few hours once or twice a week will help newly rescued felines see life differently. Helping them learn to trust, love and get ready for adoption not only mends their hearts but yours, too! Volunteers must be 18-years or older, have a car, love cats, be reference checked and dependable! My name is Sunny and I’m sweeter than sweet, I LOVE to be petted and I’m always ready for a belly rub. How did a great cat like me end up at the shelter, you ask? Well, my owner reluctantly surrendered me due to her health issues, so it would be wonderful to find another loving home soon!

At 2-years-old, I’m an orange and white Tabby boy who is neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and friendly to other cats. My front paws are declawed, so I’ll need to live inside where it is safe and secure. I also have an old eye injury to my right eye that doesn’t seem to affect me at all, it just makes that eye a bit cloudy. All in all, I’m a total sweetheart who is so ready to head to my forever home!
