Priceless February 2023 Adopt ♥ Rescue ♥ Donate ♥ Foster ♥ Volunteer TM Expanding Families One Pet at a Time

Could I be your Valentine? I’m Queso Dip, a 1½-year-old girl who is the life of the party! I am very social, calm, affectionate, and easy-going. I get along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children. I love to be held and petted. I am a goofy little adventurer who will always put a smile on your face with whatever I come up with next. I am missing half of my tail from an accident that occurred prior to my arrival at the rescue, but I think that just makes me even cuter and very unique! I am spayed, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and FIV positive. FIV cats can live long, healthy lives and also cohabitate with non-FIV cats. Many of the folks at the rescue have both FIV and non-FIV cats in their own households, and I currently live with other cats (and a dog) at my foster home here in Wilmington.

If you’re interested in meeting me, please call or text All 4 Cats at 910-707-4372 or send an email to! Please visit us at and for more information.

Thank you to Michael Cline Photography for coming to my foster home (very early in the morning) to give me the cover model treatment!

Bonjour cher ami!

My name’s Babette!

I am a medium size, Great Dane/Lab mix. I am almost 2-years-old, so I am still an active girl with lots of energy, but I also love to mellow out, too. I am devoted and focused on pleasing anyone who pays attention to me. I love affection and getting rubs. I listen well and I’m looking forward to being with someone who would enjoy training me (I want to show you what a good dog I can be). I like to be the alpha dog in a group, but not with people. Of course, I’ve already been spayed, I’m current on vaccinations and I tested heartworm negative. I’m ready for a forever home. Please come visit me at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue so I can show you what a great addition I would be to your family!

If you have any questions, please call 910-457-6340.

I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

What would your pet tell you if given the chance?

Would you like a TV watching buddy? Because I love TV. My name is Raisin and I’ll sit and watch anything with you, but my personal favorites are SpongeBob SquarePants and squirrel videos on YouTube. People say I’m ridiculously good looking. I bond very well with other cats and require a companion cat. So if your cat is looking for a buddy, email or call / text All 4 Cats at 910-707-4372!

Sponsored in loving memory of Roxy.

Hey, do you want to hear a Groovy story? I’m part of the 60th group with the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program and we’re all named after 60’s themes. My name is Flower and I’m a 2-year-old, 38 pound Walker Hound girl. I just love being with people and other dogs. I ignore cats and have just a little more training to do before I graduate on February 23rd. When I am adopted, I will come with my own crate, bed and harness. I’ve learned some basic commands, I walk nicely on a leash and am already spayed and vaccinated. If you’d like to meet me or one of the other four dogs in my group, call Gail, my PR lady, at 732-693-8462. She can give you more of the scoop. You can also send an email to or just go ahead and fill out an adoption application on our website at Peace and Love! ♥

I’m Sugar and I’m a long-haired Dachshund and Chihuahua mix. This is Merle. She’s a Cairn Terrier and we’re bonded sisters. We are very sweet and loving but both of us need to lose a little weight. We are a bit on the chunky side. I am 5-years-old, love lots of attention, and I’m a Lap Dog. Merle loves attention and even though she’s not a Lap Dog, she does want to be near you. We are both spayed and we’re current on vaccinations. Our last owner is very sick and not able to continue to take care of us. Because they love us so much, they decided to let a rescue find us a new home. We are looking for someone who can care for us and give us lots of love and attention along with daily walks. If at all possible, we would love for someone to adopt us together since we’ve been bonding for the past 2-years. Even though we go potty on walks, we also know how to use puppy pads in the house and we don't take up much room. If you think you could love both of us and give us a good home, please reach out today. Serious inquiries only. We may be super cute, but we require regular grooming and want to be an integral part of a family. For more information or to adopt us, please email or call 910-625-9715. ♥

My name is Hebrew and I’m a 1-year-old Hound mix. I have a very sweet temperament and I’m great around other dogs. I love my toys, I walk well on a leash and I’m eager to learn my obediencetraining. I’m crate-trained, current on shots, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. I don’t try to dig out or jump a fence but I’m looking for a home with a privacy fenced yard and an adventurous family. To meet me, email or call 910-470-5554. ♥

My name is Texas and I am a chunky low-rider! I am a really smart girl and even though I’m 7-years-old, I still have a lot of energy. I am super sweet and do get along with most dogs. I’m looking for a home without cats, chickens or young children. I know sit, stay and wait, and I’m house-trained. I love going on walks and I love to give kisses! A home with a fenced yard where I can run and play would be ideal for me. I have my bags packed and I am waiting and ready for my forever family! Call 910-352-5150 or 910-302-7290 or visit for info or to adopt. ♥

Hi!! I am Ryder and I’m a beautiful Siamese kitty. This is my brother, Reggie, who is a handsome black kitty with white on his chest. We are almost 1-year-old and although we were a little shy when first rescued, we are now very much in love our foster mom! We may need some time to adjust to a new family, but once we do - we will purr and seek attention and love. Please fill out an application at and contact our foster mom at 910-352-5150 if you are interested us. ♥

Hi, my name is Kaylee and I am only 1-year-old. I do not like to brag but they say I am very pretty, and everyone seems to coo over my blue eye. The last time I stood on the scale, I was 40 pounds. That’s a bit pudgy for me so I am hoping for a person to run and play with. Exercise is more fun with a buddy! I am great with people but would prefer to be the center of your world. I might do well with a brother who I can tell what to do. Since I am spayed and vaccinated, all that’s left is for you to take me home and spoil me. I am your gal! Please call or text Sean at 910-918-5118 to learn more about me and how we can meet! ♥

My name is Caroline and I’m a 10-month-old Tortie girl. I was found under the hood of someone’s car and brought to the shelter as a tiny kitten. I am being fostered with a wonderful family and I just adore other cats here. I’m independent, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. That means I’m ready to find my perfect match. To adopt me, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to! ♥

I’m Mr. Wilson and I came into rescue after being dumped out of a car in in Wilmington. I am deaf but that does not stop me. I am very affectionate, love car rides and meeting new people. I do great with dogs but not cats as I like to chase them. I will come with 6-weeks of dog obedience training to assist my new family. I will need patience and understanding. I have a willingness to learn and to adapt to my deafness and I’m learning new training skills. I’m very active and would do well with an active family. I’m 2½-years of age, neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. To adopt, call 910-271-5170 or email! ♥

Hello, my name is Taffy and I’m a 1½-year-old, 40 pound girl who is super friendly and smart. I’m a spayed Hound and Pit Bull mix who is healthy, vaccinated and microchipped. I had a home but due to living arrangements, my owner was no longer able to care for me. Being a young pup, I do have some energy but love to play with other dogs of all sizes or independently with toys. I am a quick learner, adapt well to new situations, potty-trained, do well in a kennel and can give kisses all day long. Gee, I sound pretty perfect and that’s because I am! Interested in adopting me? Contact Sharon at 910-617-3760 or ♥

I’m a very sweet Orange Tabby boy named Ludwig. You may remember me from past issues. I had found a home, but recently my pet parent developed a medical condition that prevents her from continuing to care for me. So, which one of you reading this will adopt me and take me back into the home environment I so love? I’m a fun and feisty guy who will do well in a single cat household with adults only. I enjoy plenty of play time and am one of the handsomest cats around, if I do say so myself. Please come meet me and let’s see if we’re a match! Call my friends at 910-256-2624 or send an email to and let’s plan a day and time to get together! ♥

My name is Pug and I came to CAPS from a lady who was no longer able to care for her cats. I’m in a foster home and have a glowing report card! I adjusted extremely well to my new living arrangements and love being an only cat now and getting all the attention! I’m about 9-years young, spayed and up to date on shots. I do well with other cats, but have no history with dogs or children. I’m so deserving of a forever home. To adopt, please call 910-455-9682, email or visit

Hi, friends! My name is Noah and I’m a very handsome Poodle/Schnauzer mix boy, 4-years-old and 67 pounds. I am a new arrival at the shelter and I’m hoping this will be a short layover on the way to my forever home! I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and I have a friendly and playful personality. I just love toys, too! Won’t you come adopt me so we can get started on our new life’s adventures? I’m at the New Hanover Humane Society in Wilmington. They are open Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm. You can also call the shelter staff at 910-763-6692 with any questions!

I'm gentle, laidback, I get along with other cats and I also get along well with kids. All I want is to be loved. I appreciate snuggles and being petted and am spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. If you'd like to meet me, please text or call Cat Adoption Team (C.A.T.) at 910-599-2755. ►Hello! My name is Ramsey. I am a Treeing Walker Hound estimated to be 5-years-old. I am friendly with all dogs and prefer to not have cats in the home but I love kids of all ages. I am the happiest Hound you will ever meet! I am crate-trained, leash-trained and working on housetraining. With some patience, I will pick it up fast. My foster mom believes I was a former hunting dog but I have shown no desire to hunt since I’ve been at her home. I am a very low-maintenance and chill boy but when it’s dinnertime, I’m super excited! I am current on vaccines, neutered, dewormed and heartworm negative. ♥

◄My name is Grace, and I am a Malamute, Husky, Gray Wolf (17%), and German Shepherd mix. I am estimated to be around 3-years-old, and I am big (weighing close to 90 pounds), so the family who wants me should have plenty of space. I need a family who is experienced with Malamutes and Wolfdogs. I am current on all my vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, crate-trained, leash-trained, house-trained, and have been treated for heartworms. I love my swimming pool and I love to play fetch but my favorite thing is riding in the car! I will need to be your only pet as I’m not good with cats or dogs. I do love kids of ALL ages. My home must have a 6-foot, securely fenced-in yard, as I will jump over anything smaller. I am a very affectionate gal and would love to run around and cuddle with you on the couch. Due to hybrid laws, I am not able to live in certain counties, so Roseys Rescue will have to look into your county laws before you adopt me. (Sadly, I cannot live in New Hanover County.) ♥

►▼Hi, Chaco here, pictured on the right. I want to tell you a little about me and my brother, Wolfie. We are 4-years-old and we are Husky/Lab/ Shepherd mixes. I’m the gorgeous copper colored one and Wolfie looks like a Husky with his black and cream colored markings. We came from the same mom

Roseys Rescue

and we had a wonderful home for 4-years until our daddy died and someone took us to a shelter. We were so scared at that loud shelter with all those other dogs barking all the time. We just wanted to hide in our dog house and wake up from this terrible dream! After a couple of weeks, a really nice lady came to meet us and took us home with her. We love our foster mom and she made us feel so much better. We get to run around the yard and get lots of treats! We are neutered and vaccinated and have microchips so if we get lost, we can be reunited. My brother and I do everything together. We go potty together, we eat together and we sleep together. Wolfie is my best friend and I don't like it when we can't be together When our foster mom takes us for walks, I pull on the leash because I just want to get to where I am going. Wolfie is a slow poke and sometimes needs coaxing to walk on the leash. We don't mind being in a crate but we are mature enough to not tear things up like puppies do so you don’t need to crate us. I like all the attention people give me but my brother takes his time when giving affection. Once he knows you are a good person, he will give you a lick on the nose and sit right up against you. Did I mention we are big dogs? I weigh 90 pounds and Wolfie is 70 pounds. That may intimidate you, but we are just big babies and are not scary at all! We don't really play or wrestle, but prefer to just lay around together. My brother has a stuffed sloth he likes to carry around and he will bring it to you if he loves you. It's kinda cute! We like other dogs ok as long as they don't try to boss me around. We like to bark at cats so you probably shouldn't have any if you don't like a loud bark. Whoever wants to adopt us has to accept us both. I can't live without my best pal. Why don't you come and meet us? ♥

Hi there, I’m a beautiful pup named Ariel! I came to C.A.R.E. with a traumatic injury that has left me with permanent coordination and balance challenges. I may fall down a little more or have a few more challenges getting up, but this does not stop me as I will play and run with my gang of puppy friends. While I try hard to be a good girl, my condition can result in an accident here and there but a good routine and lots of yard space could be a big help. I’m in need of a loving home, with a yard and hopefully other dogs or kids to play with! If you are interested in meeting me or learning more about me, please call 910-256-2624 or send an email to

Hi, my name is Big Foot or, as my foster mom calls me, Big! I lost my dad a few months ago. I am a sweet and loving boy but I can take a little time to settle in to a new environment. I love to run around the yard and get loved on. I am about 6-years-old and I tend to hang pretty close to my foster mom. I am house-trained and learning to walk on a leash. If I were to have any other canine siblings, ones my size are what I feel most comfortable with. I have come a long way and will continue my progress with a loving family. I sure do miss my dad but I’m ready to find my next adventure. If you would like to be my forever family, call 910-302-7290 or visit us online at to apply for my adoption.

I just don’t understand why no one has come to meet me or has even asked about me.

I’m just the sweetest dog and if you give me a toy, I’ll be content and play for hours. My name is Hazel and I'm a small Pit Bull mix who weighs 35 pounds. I’m a real sweetheart on a quest for a good home. I do well with bigger dogs and I’m fine with felines. I was at a rural shelter with not much time to spare when Hamilton’s Healing Hearts took me in. I am around 8-years of age and have no teeth but that doesn’t stop me from loving toys, rawhides and kibble. I’m ready to celebrate life with you. I’ve been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. ►My name is Pecan Pie and I am a sweet special needs kitty. I love to talk and chirp for attention. I get along very well with other cats and would be ideal as a companion for your existing cat. I’m very curious and must inspect everything thoroughly, for safety of course. My new favorite hobby is watching the fish tank - I’ll stare all day. I’m also a big fan of ear scratches and string toys. Early in life, I suffered an injury to my backside, which severed many nerves endings and made me mildly incontinent. I don’t have many accidents at all. Maybe once every few weeks, and I do try to make it by the litterbox, so my condition is manageable. I also don’t do the best with very young children. I’ve been looking for a forever home for a whole entire year now. Can you make 2023 the best year ever for me? ♥

►Arrr, it’s Captain Bialy, sailing seas and stealing hearts. I'm a very sweet and affectionate privateer, but I need to trust you first. I like to rest on laps, chase the laser pointer, and gobble treats. I've been looking for my forever home for over 10-months! I get along very well with other cats. Do you have room for this girl to plunder your heart forever? If so, please reach out to All 4 Cats to meet me in my foster home. ♥

◄We are brother and sister and were abandoned at the shelter when we were only 5-months-old. We’ve always only had each other, so we are very bonded and must be adopted together. We do everything together: sleep, clean each other, and even sometimes eat out of the same bowl together. I’m Daylilly and I love to be held, and I’m very out-going, affectionate and adventurous. Carnation is my brother and he’s more shy and nervous, so I protect him. He needs someone patient who will be willing to work with him until he comes out of his shell. He loves tummy rubs! Just wait and see the kitty he’ll blossom into. Both of us love to sleep with you and would do best in a calmer environment with no small children. ♥

►Tunnels and cuddles! That’s all this girl needs. My name is Virtue and I am a 7-year-old girl who plays hard and loves hard. Watching me pop in and out of my tunnels will put a huge smile on your face. I am a major snuggler, and will be on your lap watching tv with you all the time. I love to sleep on or next to you as well. I do have boundaries and do not get along with small children and other animals, so I must be an only pet. But if you’ve had cats before and you’re lonely, there’s no better companion than me! Message us today to set an appointment to meet me in my foster home! ♥

►My name Is Yuki and I am a 2-year-old Tuxedo girl. I’m very affectionate and I crave human interaction. Though I am a bit bashful at first, once I blossom, I am so loving and affectionate and always want to be around you. I do well with dogs and cats, but I would be ok by myself, too. If you have some mice toys and some love to give, I am your girl. Oh, and treats, you must have treats too ;) ♥

►Hello! My name is Miss Fabulous and I am 2-years-old, spayed, FeLV negative, microchipped, and vaccinated. I LOVE attention and always want to be loved on. I do great with children and other cats, too! I haven't been around dogs, but I think I can be friends with a doggo as long as I’m introduced slowly. I am on a special diet and need portion control. ♥

Attention Small Dog Lovers! We are a brother and sister duo named Fawn and Trouble

We are just 2½-years-old and only 17 to 20 cuddly pounds. We are healthy, spayed / neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and take monthly flea / tick and heartworm preventions. While we might be shy or anxious at first meeting, just give us a little time and we’ll warm right up. We do bark at the cars and are protective with visitors but we are okay walking to enjoy a nice stroll around the neighborhood. Car rides aren’t exactly our favorite pastime but we don’t mind it when going to the park or veterinarian. If you get us excited about the squirrels in the backyard, we’ll run around the yard and be goofy. We are sweet, loving and fun dogs that you just have to meet. It is required that we’re adopted together and that you have a securely fenced yard. We are house-trained and need a home with no other pets or kids. We also know the following commands: sit, paw and come. If you would like to know more about us, arrange a meet and greet or know how to adopt a bonded pair of adorable pups, please call Sandi at 910-338-7254.

Could I be your Valentine? My name is Skeeter and I’m the sweetest young boy with creamy orange fur, so buttery soft. You’ll love to pet me and I’ll just melt at your touch. I enjoy meeting new people and I also get along well with other cats. I’m a playful fellow, too, and have been known to chase the laser light all around the room! My sister and I came to the shelter several months ago. She has found her forever home and I am more than ready to find mine. At 11-months-old, I’m neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and litterbox-trained. Come scoop me up in your arms and let’s fall in love! You’ll find me at Pender County Humane Society in Burgaw. Call 910-259-7022 with any questions!

◄At 21 pounds, I’m the perfect travel mate! The name’s Lula and I’m a great 1-year-old girl who fits well in any lap! I fit easily in a car, too, and can sniff out adventure anywhere I go. I love to play with toys and think my dog bed is the best invention ever. When I’m not playing with my friends, I love to sunbathe and give big sloppy kisses of appreciation. I am ready to be your side kick! ♥

◄Olaf here! I’m just a baby boy at 10-months of age and 36 pounds. My body hasn’t caught up with my legs yet, so I’m just one big loveable goof ball when I’m frolicking around the play yard with my friends. Fetch is my favorite game in the entire world and I just love all kinds of toys. I sure would love to have a home I can call my own! Please come out for a visit - you don’t need an appointment! ♥ ◄Smooth, strong, and full of spirit… Whiskey is the perfect name for me! At 1-year-old, I’m a handsome Lab and Hound mix who is happy, fun and always on the move. The nice people at Paws Place tell me that once I complete my heartworm treatment, I’ll be able to run and jump, jump, JUMP for joy off leash in (hopefully) my very own backyard. Wow, I could tippy-tap with excitement at the thought! So let’s get this show on the road. Can you point me in the direction of my forever family? I know they won’t be able to resist me! ♥

◄Wishbone here! I’m super-smart for a 1-year-old and know basic commands. If cuddling, snuggling, playing fetch, sunbathing, and leisurely walks are your thing, we are destined to be soul mates! I wouldn’t mind a furry sibling and I’d prefer an adult-only home with a fenced in yard. At 66 pounds, I’m a Saint Bernard and Great Pyrenees mix who walks well on a leash and is food motivated. Do you have room in your heart for me? ♥

►I’m one of eight puppies available for adoption and my name is Snap Dragon! I am the largest of the litter, but I am also the sweetest. I am a playful boy who loves to hang out with my fur and human friends. I’m learning how to walk on a leash and am having so much fun. I’m THE BEST cuddle buddy ever and I’m waiting for you! ♥

◄At just 19 pounds and 5-years-old, I’m a small boy who is quite the catch! My name is Bones and I know basic commands, I walk well on a leash, I love playing with toys and I love to snuggle and give kisses to the humans in my life! I’m a very wellbehaved lad who would love to be your companion on all kinds of adventures. Let’s meet up today! ♥

Hi, my name is Lilah. I’m a female Siberian Husky who is 1-yearold and 47 pounds. Everyone says I’m super nice and friendly and that I’m quite the looker. I am playful and affectionate, I love to cuddle and give kisses and I’m full of puppy energy. I will do best in a home with an active family so I get plenty of exercise and attention. I do love being with humans of all sizes and calm dogs. I am healthy, spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, crate-trained and leash-trained. I have slight vision loss due to an autoimmune disorder that Huskies are prone to. I’m on a treatment of eye drops and oral medications (that Furever Friends Animal Rescue will pay for) to correct the issue. No permanent damage or vision loss has been done! If you are interested in making me part of your family, please contact Furever Friends Animal Rescue at 910-617-3760 or send an email to Knowledge of the Husky breed is a plus. Hope to meet you soon!

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess and beach dogs everywhere.

Greetings, human! My name is Rayna and I’m a 3-yearold, 43 pound girl. My world was turned upside down, so I’m a little nervous and a tad shy since coming to Paws Place. I am starting to warm up to the nice humans who have been spending time with me. I have even found out what treats taste like...PURE HEAVEN! I am hoping to find my forever home, so here is my wish list: someone who can be patient with me, as adjusting to a new environment is a little scary; someone who is curious and adventurous, since I like to sniff around new places; and someone who is as loyal as me because I am a sensitive girl who can sniff out emotions. I always want my human to feel loved! You should know that I tested positive for heartworms, but the nice people here told me I’ve already started my treatment and will be heartworm free someday! I’d love to hang out and learn more about my potential forever home. So, whatever draws us together, I hope that it happens soon! Can’t wait to meet you and be able to feel snuggly and safe! The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and no appointment is necessary. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email for info.

I am sponsored by the Nichelson family as a living tribute to Snafu, a former shelter dog who found his true forever family.

◄I’m a 1½-year-old boy named Squirtle! I’m very shy at first but once I bond with you my sweet personality blossoms and I’m extremely loving. My routine is to hang out in your bedroom and get lots of petting in the morning. Then I’m off to spend the day looking out the window, hanging out and playing. My brother is Pikachu, also pictured on this page. Please call or text 910-599-2755 to meet us! ♥

CAT: Cat Adoption Team

◄I’m the most adorable mini house panther ever! At 4-months-old, I’m a bundle of joy named Jack and I check all of the boxes. I snuggle, I purr, I play and when my little paws need a rest, your lap is the perfect spot for a nap. You will fall in love with me! All I need is another cat or kitten for company and I’ll find my happily ever after. To meet me, please call or text 910-599-2755. ♥

◄I’m Roma, a 2-yearold black and white beauty. I was rescued with my kittens and now that they have been adopted I am actually more playful! When introduced to the other cats in my foster home I was so sweet that all the cats accepted me right away. I am very friendly and I have the cutest little personality. I’ll be THE BEST addition to your family, so please call or text 910-599-2755 and let’s meet soon. ♥

▲We are Bastet and Ra, an 11-month-old brother and sister duo who would love to be adopted together. We are friendly, outgoing, and loveable. We are fun to watch as we play, run and chase, tumble and wrestle and behave like the kittens that we still are! We don't appreciate toddlers, but older kids are fine. If you'd like to meet us, please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755. ♥

►I’m Pikachu, a sweet 1½year-old boy who enjoys being petted. I have the softest brown and chocolate Tabby coat. I play with other cats and kittens and I don’t mind the dogs at my foster home. I’m shy at first and will initially hide if I don’t know you, but once I get acquainted, I appreciate lots of love and attention. Kitten season will be here soon and young adults like me often get overlooked. I’m so deserving of my own home. Won’t you give me a chance? Please call or text 910-599-2755 to meet me! ♥

I am the sweetest big boy ever. I look like a Maine Coon mix. I was attacked by a coyote and almost lost my front leg, but luckily FURR rescued me and I am all healed up and back to normal. I'm still a little shy, but I love everybody and I get along with ALL the FURR rescue cats, too.

I like fish! I was rescued at a fish production plant where I was trying to survive. The volunteers call me "Roughy" and I am gorgeous. My fur is long and orange and my eyes are beautiful. I’m a little shy around new people, but if you give me a chance, it will be well worth it to have a sweet kitty like me. I have siblings who were also rescued (if you decide you want two kitties). I am a kind soul and I get along great with all the other cats here. I am 1-year-old and want to make you happy.

I’m a short-haired girl with beautiful silky gray and white fur. I have been fully vetted and I’m ready to move in with you. I’ve been microchipped, I’ve already spayed, I’m current on vaccinations, and I come with my own collar and tag and toys. Come meet me soon! I love to cuddle and I love to have fun and play!

I cannot believe I am STILL without a forever home. I am a tiny girl and other cats outweigh and outnumber me. I need someone to hold me and love me because I feel secure being close to someone. I get along great with other kitties and the volunteers think that I am super special. If you are looking for the sweetest little girl, you should come visit me. I am very soft and just don't have a mean bone in my little body. I am only a little over a year old, but I won't get much bigger. I am petite with a huge, gentle heart. Take me home with you.

We’re freakin' adorable black kittens who are extremely friendly because we have been handled since birth by our rescue. We’re funny and playful little ones (two boys) who will keep you entertained for hours. Once play time is over, it’s cuddle time and boy, do we love to cuddle. All of our vet work is included with our adoption fees! Don't wait too long because we’re eager to love you. Adopt one or both of us.

I am VERY unusual and beautiful with my long soft black hair and stunning SILVER mane! I was just recently rescued by FURR and I'm learning to trust that people are good and can be nice. I just need a quiet household and plenty of snuggle time. I have a sister here at the shelter - in case you want to adopt a pair of kitties, I hope you’ll decide to take us both.

VOLUNTEER: There are lots of ways to help our cause, from raising awareness about spaying/neutering, to helping with fundraisers or simply volunteering time to care for the kitties! DONATE: Covering medical costs, pet supplies and food are every day expenses for FURR. We accept monetary and non-monetary donations which are tax-deductible to the extent of the law! Lucy Tuna ADOPT: All of our cats are anxiously waiting to be adopted! Whether you want a mellow Lap Cat or a bundle of energy, we will help you choose the cat who is right for you!

Hi there, everyone! I’m a silly and fun Hound mix boy who loves all types of toys to play with. If you come over to meet me (and I hope you will!) you might find me strutting

around the yard with a floppy stuffed toy in my mouth. The staff says I’m a loving goofball, just 1-year-old, and I’m bound to bring joy and happiness to any family who adopts me. My ID number is A456369 and I’m ready to go! Oh, if you’d like me to be a playmate for a dog you already have, bring him or her out to the shelter to meet me! I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500. See you soon!

Hi, my name is Niki. I’m a gentle, playful and super friendly kitten and I would love a furever home with a cat buddy. I’m a grey and white Tabby girl who is gentle and just 4-months-old. I tested negative for FeLV/FIV, I’m current on age appropriate vaccinations, I’ve been dewormed and microchipped, and I’m on flea prevention. My rabies vaccination and spay will be happening soon. Let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day as new best friends. I love to be held and will lounge on your lap. I'll make a great addition to your family! My name is Bathsheba (quite a royal name, don’t you think?), but my foster family has started calling me Daisy. I am a beautiful Basset Hound who is fully potty trained. I was an outdoor dog when I came in, but I love the good life indoors. I am very energetic and might be even younger than my estimated age of 7, according to the vet. I currently prefer women, but I am starting to be more comfortable around my gentle foster family (including the men). They are helping me work on my socialization and I am making very good progress. Even though I love to play, I also will settle down. I’m learning to understand what the people are asking me to do. I’m looking for the right family who is patient and wants to spend with me. I am learning to go to the toy basket when I need to find something to chomp on. If you are interested in adopting me or another Basset, call 888-909-2387 or visit us online at ♥

Hi, my name is Lego and I am a 7-year-old, neutered male Great Dane who came into rescue when my previous owners got a divorce. I am house-trained and crate-trained but I am also trustworthy without a crate. I ride great in the car, I’m great with kids, and I love playing with toys. I am a huge lover and very affectionate! I love to run and roll in the grass, too. I know commands like: stay, place, down, and come. I am good with other dogs but I get very excited meeting friends while on a leash, so I require slow introductions. My foster family is working with me on my leash manners and think it will be best if I go to a family who will continue to work with me on these tasks. At 170 pounds, I need a strong and confident owner with previous giant breed experience and a fenced in yard. I’m great as an only dog or in a home with a confident female companion who can match my energy and play level. To adopt me, please email Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love at or call 704-584-9257. Our approval process consists of an adoption application, vet and reference checks, a phone interview, and a home visit. Please note that we require adopters to have a fenced in yard. If you would like to view other Danes, please visit ♥

Hi, my name is Tonks! I’m a friendly and loyal Boxer boy who wants to find a forever family, but first, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

Favorite Toy: anything stuffed, furry or food-filled Favorite Place: the couch Favorite Snack: anything that I’m given. I’m not picky!

Favorite Game: catching treats in my mouth.

Favorite Person: anyone who gives me attention.

I am a laid-back guy who likes to hang out and watch TV with my foster dad. Don’t worry though, I don’t hog the furniture! When he’s at work, I just relax in one of the bedrooms and snooze on a comfy dog bed. I’m well-behaved and housetrained so there’s no need for me to be crated. I also like to hang out in the backyard and go for walks. Although I may have been a wild man in my younger years, at 6-years-old

I now have just the right mix of energy and calmness. I’m the best of both worlds! In fact, I’d be okay just going for walks if my forever family doesn’t have a fenced yard.

I LOVE meeting new people! I haven’t met a person that didn’t become my BFF in 2 minutes. As for dogs, I am currently the only dog in my foster home, so I’ve gotten used to not having to share things (I mean, don’t all only children have this problem?). Because of this, if you have other dogs, you’ll want to give us our own spaces for eating and bone-chewing. I’m healthy, medium-sized, super-smart and know several commands. I also know how to fetch (though sometimes I turn it into a fun game of chase). I can’t wait for you to teach me new things! To you, my future family, thank you for considering a spunky and handsome, middle-aged guy with a million-dollar smile. To adopt me, please email, call 910-799-5638, or visit ♥

I’m a sweet little lady named Zoey and I’ve spent a whole year looking for you. I waddle like I am ancient but the vet says I’m just 6 to 7-years-old. I have some early onset arthritis, but Adequan injections have changed my life! I love playing with my toys, visiting with my fur friends, watching squirrels run around on the back deck, and being with my humans. I enjoy going on walks and taking car rides to meet up for playdates with my canine friends. My foster parents adore me and want the best for me. I tend to get snarky when it comes to the vet, ear cleaning, and taking meds, so I’d like a patient and understanding human. Call 910-821-3504, email or visit ♥

My name is Cash

Prior to being rescued, I was literally starving but just look how handsome I am with some meat on my bones. I went to the doctor and she told my foster parents that everything is great! No worms anywhere!

My shots are up to date and I am neutered. I'm about 4-years-old but I have the energy of a much younger pup. I guess that’s because I couldn't run around a lot and was stuck in a crate all the time. Since I didn't get to eat much, I do protect my food. My people said that I have enough love for humans that I don't need to have a fur brother or sister. I do like to play with bigger dogs, but I would just rather have my humans all to myself! I like humans of all sizes but the bigger ones are best so I don't knock them down by accident. I love having a fenced yard so I can do my zoomies and I really have fun on long walks (helps me with my energy).

I LOVE riding in a car and smelling everything - that's so much fun. To meet me, please let my people know. Call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231 or email

I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of Harley, Murphy and Sophie.

This could be the happy face that greets you every morning! My name is Poncho (A460524)

and I’m a 4-year-old Pit Bull boy, already neutered. I am happy, goofy, silly, friendly, and when I wag my tail my whole

body wiggles. I absolutely love toys that make noise, so a few of those in my new home would be great. The staff say I see myself as the ’Walmart Greeter’ of the shelter because I want to say hello to everyone. They also say I’ve been a fantastic dog with all the people here. I’m food motivated and I love my doggie bed, too! If your dog needs a playmate, please bring him or her to the shelter to meet me. I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit and adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. ◄Hey there, I’m a darling girl named Riley! I recently celebrated my first birthday on November 25, 2022. Poor me, I’ve been bounced around in four different places in my first year of life, and I’m ready to settle down in my forever home! My name is Lila and I’m a 6-year-old Hound mix who is feeling happy and healthy now that I’m in good hands at the shelter. All I want is to be loved! If all you want is to be loved as well, please come over and meet me! ♥ ►Hi there! I’m a gorgeous 6-year-old Redbone Coonhound mix named Dixie! I’ve had some rotten luck lately - I’ve been adopted twice and returned through no fault of my own, due to my owners no longer being able to take care of me. This could be good news for you, though, because I’m a very sweet girl who loves people. If you’re in need of a best friend, I’m right here! I’m in great health and ready to go home, so please hurry over today. ♥

We were surrendered to the shelter due to family allergies, which is a real shame because we’re great familiy cats! I’m Pockey, the black and white boy, and Hibiscus is an orange and white Tabby boy. We are 2-years-old, neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and ready to go! ♥

◄▲We are Misty and Maggie and we’ve been at the shelter since May 2021! I’m Misty, the black beauty, and Maggie is a lovely Tabby girl. We’ve grown up together and would love to be adopted as a pair, but we can also be adopted separately. At just 2-years-old, we’re very playful and enjoy all kinds of toys, especially that hard-to-catch laser light! We are even OK with dogs! We’re spayed, vaccinated, litterbox-trained, microchipped and in great health. Please come meet us! ♥

Helloooooo nice person! I’m Gouda! Nice to meet you. You say you’re looking for a dog? That’s amazing! Because I am a dog! You say you knew that? That you came here to Paws Place looking for ME? Oh, yippee! Well, since you are here let me tell you a little bit about myself. As you can see, I am your typical bubbly, energetic 3-year-old boy! I love to play, I know basic commands, I walk well on a leash, I enjoy giving kisses, and I make a great adventure buddy, too. I often dream of my future and hope to spend time with my new family hanging in the backyard, going on hikes in the woods or taking long strolls through the neighborhood, then plopping all 60 pounds of me down on the couch with you for some snuggles. I even heard there are dog friendly beaches nearby! Oh, how I dream of my ears flopping around in the wind while I run on the beach. And did I mention how much I love people? I am quite the social butterfly here at Paws Place. I can’t wait to hear about you and our future adventures, so come visit me at the shelter! It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and no appointment is necessary. Call 910-845-7297 or email for more info.

I am sponsored by The Tree House Gang at Saltscapes Landscaping. Thank you!

I’m such a happy and friendly girl and all I’m looking for is love and attention. If you adopt me, I’ll be sure to lavish love and attention on you, too! I’m a mixed-breed darling, just 2-years-old and already spayed. The staff say I am so sweet and that I grow attached to humans very easily. I am food-motivated, but mostly I just want to hang out and be with people. I like toys that make noise and I would love some Kong toys in my new home, too. If you already have a dog, please bring him or her to the shelter so we can meet! I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500. See you soon!

I’ve gained weight, I’m on flea medication and I’ve finished my round of antibiotics. Overall, I’m a laid-back boy who is VERY food motivated and I take treats very easily. ◄▼Hello! I’m Otis, a 5-month-old black and white Manx mix. This is my friend, Olive She’s a 5-month-old Tabby. Everybody

thinks she is my sister but I’m almost 3-weeks older than she is. We never even met until we both went to the same foster home. We get along well and we play together but we don’t need to be adopted together. We just want to be adopted! ♥

◄With my colorful ringed tail and Tabby patches, I’m almost as unique as I am playful. If you come to meet me, I promise you won’t be able to resist my cute face! My name is Moxie. I’m 6-months-old and after we get tired from playing, all I want is a fuzzy bed by the window or a spot on the couch to watch TV with you. We can watch The Cat Whisperer and Too Cute together. ♥

►I have a little bit of scarring from a long gone infection in one eye, but I can still see an amazing adoption in my future! My name is Whisper. I was found on the side of a road and nursed back to health. Now I’m a sleek, shiny, beautiful black kitten who loves attention, especially head scratches, and I’m ready to find a new family. ♥

►Hello, I’m Ripley, a 6-month-old black and white boy. I am sooo sweet that you just won’t believe it. I love attention - just can’t get enough of it. I’m so gentle that I don’t even use my claws when I make biscuits, and I love to make biscuits. I’m dressed to impress in my nice tuxedo coat and, since I’m the last one here from my litter, I’m really excited to be adopted and move to a new home. ♥

►You can barely hear me meow, but trust me when I say that I make my presence known. Jumping, hopping, twisting , turning, even flips - I do it all. Forget TV, give me a box and I’ll be your entertainer.

I am Chantilly, a 3-month-old Calico with loads of personality. Even though I have a wild side, I also love to curl up on laps and spend some quality time relaxing. ♥

◄▲I’m Jingle (pictured on the left) and I’m a Calico girl. Pictured to the right of me is my brother, Jolly Did you know that only about one in three thousand Calicos are males? That’s why he doesn’t share my brown patches. However, we do share our loud purrs and love of toys. As you can tell from our names, we were supposed to be ready for adoption at Christmas time, but we weren’t big enough. Now we’re hoping Valentine’s Day will be our lucky day! ♥

I’m Jelly Bean, a gorgeous buckskin blonde Weimaraner and Labrador mix girl seeking companionship. At 5-years-old and 60 pounds, I am at the peak of my prime...full of beauty and vitality. Sadly, such youth and beauty are wasted sitting alone in a kennel, the same kennel that has been my home for over 2-years. With more to offer than just a pretty face and intelligence, I’m looking to match with someone who will enjoy seeing me reach my full potential. I’m undeniably awesome, and I love being the center of attention, because in fact, the world DOES revolve around me (duh). I’d prefer to be your only pet, although with proper time and energy I might be persuaded otherwise. I dream of long walks (or runs) down the beaches or up the mountains or anywhere but the shelter, which has always been my only home. Like all of us, I have dreams and potential. Dreams so big that not even the cold concrete of the kennel can squash. My life was never meant to be this way and I know it in my core. Surely somewhere, someone reading this knows it, too. Maybe you’re missing something...perhaps it is a Jelly Bean. Please call or text Sean with A Shelter Friend at 910-918-5118, visit us at or on Facebook.

►Hi, my name is Aspen! I am a 6-year-old Flame Point Siamese kitty cat. I am gorgeous with my ‘Frank Sinatra’ blue eyes. I do ok with cats, ok with dogs and I am pretty chill. I love to sit next to you on the couch and even make biscuits. I need no time to adjust at all. I literally move in, fit in and make myself right at home. I am FIV positive. That means ideally I would get adopted into a home with other FIV positive cats or live as an only cat. I am otherwise healthy and deserve a loving home. Google FIV to learn more about my condition and to see that MANY cats are living long, normal lives. If you would like to meet me, please call Jill at 910-620-3783. Please give me a chance or tell your friends about me because I just need to find that ONE person out there looking for me. ♥

◄My name is Loki! I am a 10 pound Shih Tzu mix and I am only 1-year-old. I had my jaw broken twice by another dog and was surrendered to the emergency animal hospital who reached out to Adopt-An-ANGEL for help. The doctor had to wire my jaw shut and I could only eat liquid food. I am now in a loving foster home and on the mend! I am a sweet, loving, and energetic boy. Because of my age and special needs, I am recommended for a young active family with children over 10. I am neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If you have questions or want to meet me, contact my foster mom, Sue, at 910-760-4522. If you’re able to contribute to my $2400 hospital bill, please donate at or mail a check to AdoptAn-ANGEL, P.O. Box 15095, Wilmington, NC 28408. ♥

►My name is Vinnie and I am absolutely wonderful. I am really affectionate and loving. I am also the ultimate lap cat. I will follow you around like a dog and I love to get all cozy, as you can see in my picture. I do well with other cats and kids, but have not been around a dog lately. If you are looking for a great cat, please call Jill at 910-620-3783 to meet me. ♥

►My name is Violet and I am a 2-year-old Pug and Terrier mix with a lot of puppy left in me. I am about 30 pounds, so I am a smaller lady. I love playing with toys and getting attention from my people. I most likely have to be an only dog as I show strong resource guarding tendencies towards other dogs with toys. I seem to do well with people of all ages and would be a great companion / Lap Dog for someone who is home a lot. I am an active dog who loves walks, but I am also happy to cuddle with you on the couch. I am spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If you have any questions feel free to contact Sherry at 910-523-1254 or Jill at 910-620-3783. ♥

►My name is Barbie and I am the sweetest girl! I am chatty and friendly. I am 2 to 3-years-old and have been homeless all summer long. It is tough competing with all these cute kittens. I would love a quiet home where I can be the only pet. I do ok with other animals, but I would prefer to be a pampered, special only-pet (if I could get my ideal home). Please call Jill at 910-620-3783 to meet me. ♥

I love treats and having my head scratched. My hobby is swishing my tail. I was a wonderful mother cat and now that

my kittens have been adopted, I'm ready for a wonderful home of my own. My name is Maria and I have shiny, soft, black fur. Please come out and meet me at Pet Supermarket (3908 Oleander Drive in Wilmington). You may also call Jill at 910-620-3783 for more information. ♥

Hi there! I’m Cinnamon!

I am a lowkey, chill, and shy kind of gal. At almost 3-years-old and 43 pounds, I am learning my way around Paws Place and realizing that there are kind humans in this scary world.

I had a rough start to life and have the scars to prove it. The humans at Paws Place don’t think I was socialized much (with people), so I would love to meet your fur babies and learn how to be a happy-go-lucky pup from them! I’d prefer a human who can provide supportive leadership and help me get settled into a routine, too. All in all, I am a laid-back wannabe snuggle bug who is super reserved, but I have been dreaming of the perfect home and family. I hope that you will come out and visit me soon! Paws Place is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and no appointment is necessary. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email for information on adopting me.

I am sponsored in honor of all the people who lovingly care for the dogs at Paws Place.

▲I’m a beautiful striped Tabby girl who arrived at the shelter just a few days after Christmas! When will my new family arrive? I’m just 1-year-old and ready to enjoy life with you. My ID number is A049152. Hurry! ♥

Four score and three years ago I was brought into this world as sweet Abraham Winkin. My life didn’t start out the greatest and unfortunately I ended up in the shelter with heartworm disease and severe entropion. Luckily both of my medical issues have been corrected and now you will only catch me “winkin” for a treat, thanks to C.A.R.E. My manners aren’t the greatest but my friends here have been teaching me how to be the best behaved gentleman around. I will need a house with structure to help me keep up with my manners. I am friendly with other dogs and cats but will require a small amount of time for adjustment to get used to my new furry friends! I am just a loveable, big headed American Bully looking for my forever home. Please come rescue me! Call 910-256-2624 or send an email to and let’s set a date to meet!

My name is Samantha and I am a 7-month-old sweetheart who is looking for a home. Believe it or not, I was a bottlefed kitten left over from this summer who never got adopted. You see, there were SO many kittens this summer and I was overlooked week after week as people kept coming and adopting kittens smaller and younger than me. All it takes is not getting adopted that first weekend out. Then, the next weekend, you compete with kittens just 1-week younger than you - as people look at you and say you are too big or not a little kitten anymore. It is so sad, honestly. I am a wonderful teenage kitten who may need a little time to adjust since I have lived in a cage in a pet store or bounced back and forth in foster care. I love other cats and probably would do ok with a dog, and older kids. The volunteers say I have the most beautiful eyes and can be quite the lover. Are you a big enough person to consider a teenager over a kitten? If you would like to meet me, call Jill with Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-620-3783 or come see me at PetSense in Leland. I have had a break in foster care and now I’m back in the store to try another go around at getting a home. Who knew getting a home was so hard? Additionally, you can visit us online at or on Facebook at for updates and upcoming adoption events.

I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies and daddies who care for homeless animals.

►My name is George and I’m believed to be a male corn snake who is at least 17-years-old. My previous owner took great care of me but didn’t handle me much. I get very quick and antsy when being held. Like most Corns, I would likely settle down with some practice. I was eating live mice but have been eating frozen/thawed with no issue. ♥

►I’m Buddy and I’m a 1½-year-old male Bearded Dragon. I wasn't too happy when I came here but I’ve settled in and eat well. I do have a lump on my tail. It seems to be a bone deformity and doesn't cause me any issues. I am ADV positive. ♥

◄I’m Baby Leo, the most adorable little Gecko who eats like he's never full! I am still unsexed and handle very well for being so young. As with all babies, I will be a little skittish at moments and need a little time to get comfortable with you. I came to rescue from a pet store because I dropped my entire tail! It is regrowing perfectly. I never turn down any food. ♥

►I’m Mango, a sweet baby who is probably around 6 or 7-years-old. I came in with a horrible eye infection in both eyes that took forever to clear up. I’ve been blind for so long that I took a while to even want to open my eyes after they were better. I’m still a little sensitive to light but I eat so well now and I’m putting back on all my weight. ♥

get some egg on occasion. I have lots of growing to do and Savannah's need a very specific environment and diet. ♥

◄Hi, my name is Spike and I’m a young Bearded Dragon who is about 2-years-old. Since I have neurological issues, I cannot hunt or chase insects and sometimes won't even tong feed (you have to make me eat). I tend to play in my salad and it’s unknown if I’m actually eating any If I am, it’s not enough to gain weight. I don’t really understand the concept of eating or drinking which means I need someone who is going to hand feed me every single day - so I don’t starve to death. I’m active and friendly and ADV positive. ♥

►Hello, my name is Hypnos and I’m an unsexed Ball Python. I handle fine and I am used to eating live small rats. I have started taking frozen/ thawed rats without hesitation and rarely turn down a meal. ♥

►Sadly, I came into rescue with a swollen jaw, which is one of the first signs of MBD in an Iguana. My jaw is healed and I’m gaining a ton of weight, but my bottom jaw is shorter than it should be. I am still very young and don't fully trust humans but I do allow petting as long as you are offering food. As you can see from my belly, I never turn down a good meal! Please call and ask about me, Baby. ♥
