HEART HEALTH FOR MOTHER’S DAY Let’s talk about heart health at Henderson’s Pharmacy. Mother’s Day should be everyday for moms to make a plan to improve their health and protect their heart. Mothers can help reduce their risk of heart attack and stroke by knowing and managing their unique risk factors. Promote a healthy heart with these steps: • Lower your cholesterol with a healthy eating plan • Don’t smoke • Exercise daily • Track your blood pressure Speak with a Pharmacist at Henderson’s about ways to promote a healthy heart. Henderson’s is open 7 days a week.

Working together in the Thorold business community was a key message in a Lunch and Learn presentation hosted by the Greater Thorold Business Council on May 5 at Club Capri. Guest speaker Susan Morin-Business Development Manager of Thorold Tourism presented recent initiatives: • • • • •

New Thoroldtourism.com web site Activities at the Lock 7 Viewing Center and Museum Update on the Port Robinson Ferry Heritage tourism Ambassador Program by the Combined Chairs Alliance

The C.C.A. is a partnership comprising the Greater Thorold Business Council, Thorold BIA, Thorold Tourism Advisory Committee and Thorold’s Tourism Agent. Morin informed the audience of business people that a need was identified in Thorold for greater communication between organizations with a common goal to promote the City of Thorold.. With this goal in mind, representatives of the Thorold Business Improvement Area, GTBC, City of Thorold Tourism Advisory Committee and City of Thorold Tourism Agent have formed the Combined Chairs Alliance. This program is viewed as the CCA’s first collaborative effort to drive business to Thorold and keep consumer dollars in the community for a longer period of time. While a variety of elements go into creating a successful business, customer service is centre stage, Morin says the CCA is developing an Ambassador/Customer Service program to help Thorold businesses invest in quality customer service and cross-promote in the community. According to the Alliance, offering customer service training to the employees of participating businesses, doesn’t just add-value for the customer; it empowers staff, it can drive sales and create a strong competitive advantage and play a role in providing a fresh brand for Thorold.
