Looking at buying a franchise? Why franchisors become FANZ members

It’s apparent from the foregoing that many franchise systems join FANZ to give potential buyers the added reassurance that independent scrutiny brings to their franchise offer. However, Callum says there are lots of other good reasons to become a member. ‘These include improving their business through access to franchisespecific education; research; and information-sharing opportunities,’ says Callum. ‘These are all important signs that a franchisor is committed to fair and good franchising. ‘Our members value the work that FANZ does to promote and uphold best practice in franchising, and the self-regulatory framework that we have put in place for the protection of franchisees and franchisors alike. Members also value FANZ’s work to protect the franchise business model, helping government and agencies understand franchising, and developing submissions on proposed legislative and other changes where needed.’ FANZ provides members with educational and networking opportunities to keep them up-to-date and identify future trends through the annual National Franchise Conference and regular breakfast and evening seminars and networking meetings around the country. The prestigious Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards (celebrating their 25th year in 2019) are for members only. ‘The Franchise Association has been the voice of franchising – and the standard-bearer of fair and ethical franchising – in New Zealand since 1996,’ says Callum. ‘We invite franchise businesses across the country to join FANZ and demonstrate your commitment to fair franchising and a great franchising future. By getting involved, meeting the many great people who are already FANZ members, and sharing knowledge and ideas, you can improve results for both you and your franchisees.’
