Ambiance « survoltée » lors des Jeux Supercharged atmosphere intercampements at Intercamp Games JL – The first annual Intercamp Games
were a great success, with over 169 athletes competing on March 13 and 14 in a supercharged atmosphere! The Eastmain workcamp was very lively the weekend of the 2010 Intercamp Games. Full of good cheer, delegations of athletes from all the project workcamps—plus SEBJ employees based in Montreal— arrived at the recreation centre early Saturday evening wearing hats and waving flags displaying their colors. They were firmly intent on having fun ... and winning the cup! The athletes competed in many sports, including badminton, billiards, bowling, cross-country skiing, curling, golf, ice hockey, street hockey and volleyball.

People with a powerful vision
Not just sports JL – The Intercamp Games did not just
offer athletic challenges and sporting glory. They were remarkable in that they enabled people from different jobsites to mingle in a pleasant new setting. It’s often said that sports bring people together, and at the Intercamp Games, that saying once again proved to be true. They were the ideal occasion to meet up with former coworkers, reconnect and make new friends.
In this regard, the honorary chairman of the Games and director of the Eastmain‑1‑A/Sarcelle/Rupert project, Normand Béchard, also an athlete with the Montréal delegation, expressed his deep satisfaction after the closing ceremony on Sunday. For, despite the fact that it is spread out over a huge area, Eastmain‑1‑A/ Sarcelle/Rupert is a team project being carried out by dedicated people—like the athletes and their enthusiastic fans. The Games also provided a great opportunity to improve teamwork within and among the various delegations, helped bring the workcamps a little closer to the Montréal delegates and cemented everyone’s sense of belonging to this great project.

A well-deserved victory CL – The awards ceremony was held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, at the end of a day full of unexpected twists. To heighten the suspense, the organizers had stopped posting scores in real time on the sports centre screens two hours earlier. One by one, the winners in each of the nine sports were called to the stage. All the champions, from badminton to volleyball, proudly brandished their trophies.
Then came time to announce the victorious delegation, the one that would be taking home the golden cup—the huge trophy in the shape of the 2010 Intercamp Games’ logo. The delegation with the most wins over the nearly 12 hours of competition was from ... drumroll ... Nemiscau–Oujeck!
Montréal slipped into third place with 20 points, while Sarcelle came in fourth with 14. Everyone was glad for their victorious coworkers from the neighboring workcamp and instead of good-bye, said “See you next year!”
Nemiscau–Oujeck racked up 68 points, while Eastmain‑1‑A had 66. The competition was fierce and the victory well deserved.
