The bar is, however, open to membership for its exclusive use at a reduced rate and is definitely worth sampling. Gold and brown opulence set the tone for this distinguished bar. Furniture, courtesy of Momentum, is solid and comfortable; large settees and chairs provide an easy-going yet sophisticated feel. The bar is adorned in gold mosaic, hand-crafted from textiles imported from Venice. Behind

the bar is a whole raft of spirits – over 200 if you take the time to count them. Needless to say, the cocktail list is extensive, conjured up by a renowned cocktail connoisseur. The fine wine list reads like a novel; with over 450 different wines to choose from, it’s the largest selection of wines in Wales. Vintage champagnes are available as too are distinguished ports and cognacs including vintages from the 1920s and include all the great vintage years thereafter. This is the ideal place in Cardiff, and possibly Wales, to get away from it all.
