Back to School Devotion for Parents As you prepare your kids to head back to school for the 2013 - 2014 school year it’s important to think about setting healthy boundaries. Studies show that children these days are way too overscheduled, experiencing the same stress related illnesses as adults. Clinical psychologist Paula Bloom suggests that, “Parents need to teach their kids to balance human doing with human being.” Psalm 127:1-2 “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for God gives sleep to his beloved.” "There are families with so much stress and anxiety because all weekend they're traveling to games. We don't let our kids drive all the decisions in our families. They don't have to drive extracurricular decisions," Bloom said. As your children head back to school this year, be mindful of your responsibility as their parent to help nurture healthy boundaries around their precious time. They need you to be God’s hands to help them find rest and Sabbath for their soul. Rev. Kris Schondelmeyer

CPC Youth Ministry Mission Statement Our mission is to serve the youth of CPC by creating an inclusive environment that offers our youth empowerment in their lives and in the church. Modeling a life of discipleship we will guide the youth in a faith-filled life, encourage them to grow as servant-leaders, support them in their lives, and show them the love and mission of Jesus, the Christ. We value our youth and their gifts, and encourage them to share and participate in the vision and worship of Christ Presbyterian Church. -Adopted by the Youth Ministries Team of Christ Presbyterian Church in August 2011
