On 17th January 2018, Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal NGO ,Rotary Club Of Young Dombivli & Rotary Club of Dombivli Premium, Conducted 'Nisarg Mela'at Prakash Vidyalay Dombivli (East) for students. Various competitions with subjects related to environment like bird identiﬁcation, selﬁe with plants, best out of waste etc. were conducted in this event. Rtn. Sudhakar Yendhe (President – Rotary Club of Young Dombivli), Rtn. Bhushan Choudhary (President – Rotary Club of Dombivli Premium), Rtn. Dr. Mangal Tiwari (Project Chair Person), Rtn. Sanjay Tiwari (Project Co-Chair), Rtn. Suresh Tiwari, Mr. Gopalji Dubey(Trustee of Prakash Vidyalaya), Dr. P. G. Kale (Chairman – Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal), Ms. Sangeeta Joshi (Secretory – Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal) graced the event. Fifteen volunteers from Prakash Vidyalaya also helped in successful organisation of this event. Rotary Club Of Young Dombivli declared “NISARGMITRA PURSKAR” in the memory of Late Shri R. L. Dubey, to Chandrakant Patkar English Medium School for winning maximum awards in this Nisarg Mela. The award is initiated by Rtn. Dr. Mangal & Rtn. Dr. Sanjaykumar Tiwari. Exhibits of Birds, Wetland Plants, Wild Vegetables & Solid Waste Management were displayed for students. Approximately six hundred students from thirty seven schools from Dombivli participated in various competitions. The objective of this event was to spread environment education through infotainment & motivate more schools to participate every year.

Maharashtra Forest Division jointly organised a State Level Sarpamitra Sammelan & Sarpa Vigyan meet at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Memorial, Mahad. Organisations like BNHS (Bombay Natural History Society), NCBS (National Centre For Biological Sciences), Indian Herpetological Society & Nature Works & various snake experts graced the occasion. Paryavara Dakshata Mandal's 'Aapala Paryavaran Magazine' was published by Mr. Romulus Whitakar( Padmashri,Expert In King Cobra Research, India, Mr. Sunil Limaye (APCCF, Nagpur), Mr. Neelamkumar Khaire (Founder, Katraj Snake Park) in this event.. Around 700 snake rescuers & researchers attended this event. The objective of this event was to bring all snake experts & enthusiasts together to create interest among common people about snakes, their conservation & their importance in a balanced ecosystem.

On 17th January, Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal NGO conducted an Eco Film Club session in Prakash Vidyalaya for the teachers & students who participated in Nisarg Mela at Dombivli. Around ninety students & their teachers attended this session. Various documentaries on environmental conservation were screened in this session.
A similar session was conducted in association with Nature Club Hikers Club at VPM Thane. One hundred & ﬁfty students & their teachers attended this session. Ms. Sudeshna Puntambekar (Incharge-Eco Film Club & Editor & Designer Of Aapala Pa r y av a r a n M o n t h l y O n l i n e Newsletter) conducted both these sessions. The objective of these sessions was to create environment education which promote grassrool level solutions, through shor t environmental documentaries. Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal thanks Ms. Suchitra Naik (PrincipalVPM,Thane) & Mr. Shivaji Naik (Incharge -Nature Club ) for the successful completion of this event.

In the month Of January 2018, Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal' &'Thane Collectorate' conducted 'Wetland Awareness Campaigns' in various schools in Thane as 2nd February 2018 is celebrated as World Wetland Day everywhere. In each session, lectures on wetland biodiversity & conservation, power point presentations, screening of short documentaries on wetland were conducted. Around two thousand one hundred & thirty students & their teachers attended these sessions. The objective of these sessions was to create awareness about the various solutions that should be implemented to conserve the magniﬁcent wetland which pose a threat due to anthropogenic activities. These sessions also informed about Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal’s Clean Creek Movement & urged students to join it.For more details see annexure on page 5.

On 27th January Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal's Nisargayan team conducted a one day camp for six people from the same family. The family members planted a banyan tree in the memory of their brother who passed away. A couple planted a tree to mark the start of their happy married life. In an overnight stay at Mamnoli, the family enjoyed cooking on a barbecue, a walk in the jungle & a magniﬁcent view of ﬁreﬂies. Mr. Prasad Karnik was the special guest of this camp. Mr. Shree Tare (Project Coordinator- Mamnoli & Mr. Subhash Isame (Project Coordinator-Nisargayan) conducted this camp.

In the month of January 2018, Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal & Thane Collectorate organised 'Thane Creek Safari' from Thane to Bhandup. Thane Creek Safari is a part of Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal's 'Clean Creek Movement'. These trails were also conducted to inform people to join them in the World Wetland Day Conference on 2nd February, which Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal celebrates every year with other organisations. One hundred & ﬁve participants enjoyed the Creek Safari. Dr. Prasad Karnik, Dr. Purushottam Kale (President-Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal), Mr. Chinmay Khanolkar, Mr. Ravindra Sathe (Volunteer In Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal) were the resource persons of these naturetrails. Different wetland species of birds like Lesser ﬂamingos, Greater ﬂamingos, Northern Pintail, Lesser Whistling Duck, Pied Avocet, different species of mangrove & their associates were spottted in the trail.The objective of this naturetrail was to acquaint people about the rich biodiversity of Thane Creek & motivate people to implement grassroot level solutions to water pollution due to untreated sewage disposal, increased siltation, mangrove deforestation etc. The Whole Creek Safari event was co-ordinated by Ms. Surbhi Walavalkar.
Green Living Consultancy (GLC) Health and Environment A Subject Of Serious Discussion Dr. Vikas Hajirnis (President-Enviro-Vigil & Family PhysicianM.B.B.S.) facilitated this session. He spoke about the importance of maintaining health during changing climate patterns. He explained basic solutions that will minimise health problems due to various types of pollution especially air pollution. Twelve participants attended it. The objective of this session was to create awareness about human adaptation to various climate change crisis.

On 27th January 2018, Green Living Consultancy conducted a session on waste management. Mr. Vidyadhar Walavalkar (Secretary-Enviro Vigil) was the facilitator of this session. Eight people attended this session. The objective of this session was to motivate the participants to start waste management & waste segregation in their respective areas.
Green Lovers Club Bloom Orchids At Your Home Eighteen people attended this session. The objective of this session was to motivate people to plant orchids in their homes, as they are the most coveted ornamental ﬂowers worldover. Ms. Anjana Devasthale (Botanist), facilitated this session. She conducted a power point presentation & gave detail information about orchids & explained the process of orchid plantation at home.

In the month of January Green Shoppe conducted several exhibitions in six different places in Thane & Mumbra as a part of the RSS joint movement called Hindu Chetana Sangh. The objective of Green Shoppe is to motivate people to buy ecofriendly products as they are biodegradable. Around two thousand three hundred visitors visited Green Shoppe this month. Ankur Theme Park Visit Visit To Ankur Theme Park, A Natural Key To Urban Environmental Problems In the month of January, visits to Ankur Theme Park was conducted for students of various schools & organisations. Visitors were given information of the various projects in the theme park like Vermicomposting, Biocomposting, Organic Farming, Rainwater Harvesting, Butterfly Garden, Shade Garden, Aquaculture, Medicinal Plants, Magic Bucket etc. The objective of the theme park is to provide a one stop solution to sustainable progress. Four hundred & eighty five students & thirty teachers visited the theme park. For more details see annexure below.
