Relocating to a new country is much more than a case of simply changing jobs. A successful relocation requires a wide range of activities which can stretch the resources of both the employer and the employee in time and cost.

Dear Reader, My name is Isamar van Hilten, I was born in Venezuela to Dutch expatriate parents. As a child I moved 15 times with my family. Since then I continued to work, live and travel around the world. To date I have “packed my boxes 30 times for international assignments and personal moves. Using this firsthand experience of relocating to a new country and adapting to the different cultures has become my full time job. Today with a multicultural team in 10 unique countries we support international professionals and their families before, during and after their international relocation. We love our work and it shows!

PIRGROUP works alongside the Human Resources departments of our corporate clients to design comprehensive, cost effective and practical relocation programs for their employees, from whatever country of origin. PIRGROUP provides full support, up-to-date information and practical advice covering the various stages of relocation: orientation, pre-arrival, arrival, post arrival and departure.

Yours Truly, Isamar van Hilten, CEO

CLASSIC RELOCATION SERVICES These services range from providing some basic information to manage yourself, to complete support during the first few days/weeks in the new destination. Some companies expect their professionals to get to know their new home country, its rules, its requirements and compliances within 24 hours after landing – meanwhile continuing to do their regular job. We at PIRGROUP find this a danger to the success of the international assignment, an unrealistic demand on their human capital, and a ‘pennywise pound foolish’ financial approach. Given that:  A (international) relocation is in the top 3 of most stressful events in ones life  1/3 of all international assignments fail before their due date  An expat’s family only value the actual assistance given once landed  Finding and keeping top professionals is a challenge  the cost to have an effective relocation is 1/10 of the total financial investment of finding, training, grooming and moving the right candidate to the new destination one wonders about the accuracy of ROI calculations. What is included in our Classic Relocation packages or individual services: Show different regions, cities, explain homes and cost per area, distance to school and work, shops, sports and public transportation, explain ethnic neighborhoods, parking options, safety, healthcare, opening hours, public transportation, international populations, restaurants, markets, hospital, postal office. Customs of neighborhood living, garbage disposal, window cleaning, Area orientation gardening, flag protocol, national holidays

For example one can enter the Netherlands as a trainee, a student, an au pair, a knowledge migrant, an unification with an EU spouse. There will need to be a guarantor – who will vouch for the purpose of arrival and the financial consequences.
