VasbinderMy parents were planning a trip to Barcelona for their 40th wedding anniversary, so I bought them this book. They didn't take me to Barcelona, so I'm not sure of the effectiveness of this product.8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Great ideas and adviceBy S. MoonThis book has great ideas on dealing with budgets, luggage, etc. I especially like that they were keen on the idea of an 'extended' stay in Europe e.g., several weeks, and provided some sound examples of how it really doesn't cost much more to do that if you're willing to be flexible with accomodations meals.I lived in Europe for several pre-teen and teenage years, and we travelled widely. At the time I was always amazed at the number of people who take these "8 countries in 2 weeks" style tour packages -- the pace is so hectic there's no time to enjoy or experience the places, and they are wholly unsuitable for children. The book is also good at pointing out attractions that would appeal to kids, which is helpful since most guidebooks focus on the 'serious' sites that kids would find less appealing.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy KTThis book had a lot of great ideas I was glad I purchased it Author Cynthia Harriman provides information to help families get hooked on seeing the world. "Finally there is a get-down-and-dirty manual for traveling with kids in Europe! [This book] is fun to read and filled with practical tips for traveling families...[with] limited budgets."--Rick Steves, Europe Through the Back Door
