Have you wondered what it is like to live in a foreign country? Moving to Venezuela with her family in 1956, when she was in the third grade, Connies life changed to one of color and adventure. Her dad was offered and accepted the position of Materials Engineer for the construction of the Bocono dam. Three other American engineers brought their families and plans were for everyone to stay while the Bocono Dam was being built. Circumstances got more
complicated after they arrived. Join Connie as she relives her adventures in Venezuela. About the AuthorAfter returning to the United States with her family, Connie Shipley continued having adventures in her life. She focused on traveling in her twenties. Inspired by her Dad, Connie accepted the challenge to take a sales position in the male-dominated highway safety products industry after a few traditional jobs. She worked for a regional distributorship and enjoyed business relationships around the Northwest and across the country and overseas. Writing her grandfathers life story in 1978 was the first of many oral histories she wrote for friends and acquaintances, in addition to pursuing her other career. She started her Personal Historian business in 2003. Connie is a member of the National Association of Personal Historians along with the local chapter, Portland Association of Personal Historians, and Genealogical Forum of Oregon.
