Opening Song; Dear Lord and Father of Mankind Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways: reclothe us in our rightful mind; in purer lives your service find, in deeper reverence praise, in deeper reverence praise. In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord let us, like them, obey his word: 'Rise up and follow me, rise up and follow me!' O sabbath rest by Galilee! O calm of hills above, when Jesus shared on bended knee the silence of eternity interpreted by love, interpreted by love! Drop your still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of your peace, the beauty of your peace.
Breathe through the heats of our desire your coolness and your balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire, speak through the earthquake, wind and fire, O still small voice of calm, O still small voice of calm!

Welcome and introduction Opening Prayer God of the young and the old, God of the rich and the poor, God of the sad and the joyful, God of our past, present and future, We come to worship you. You who loves us always. Amen The Confession Lord God, you have shown us such love, and stretched out your arms to draw us into your embrace. Yet we so often fail to show that love within our lives, or recognise its source. Forgive our short-sightedness, for the times we've failed to see your love in the generosity of friend or stranger, the shoulder to cry on, willing ear to listen, a word of encouragement, holding our hand that extra mile. Forgive us for failing to notice how much you care for us. Absolution
May the Lord forgive our short-sightedness Our failure to see others clearly to see your love Our failure to encourage or to care May he open our hearts, our eyes and our minds To see him clearly among us and one another. Amen. 3
Song; O Jesus I have promised O Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end; Be Thou forever near me, My Master and my Friend; I shall not fear the battle If Thou art by my side, Nor wander from the pathway If Thou wilt be my Guide. Oh, let me feel Thee near me; The world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, The tempting sounds I hear; My foes are ever near me, Around me and within; But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, And shield my soul from sin. Oh, let me hear Thee speaking, In accents clear and still, Above the storms of passion, The murmurs of self-will; Oh, speak to reassure me, To hasten, or control; Oh, speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul. O Jesus, Thou hast promised To all who follow Thee That where Thou art in glory There shall Thy servant be; And Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end; Oh, give me grace to follow, My Master and my Friend.
4
Oh, let me see Thy footmarks, And in them plant mine own; My hope to follow duly Is in Thy strength alone. Oh, guide me, call me, draw me, Uphold me to the end; And then to rest receive me, My Saviour and my Friend.
The Bible reading John 1:43-51 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, ‘Follow me.’Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.’Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth? ’Philip said to him, ‘Come and see. ’When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, ‘Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit! ’Nathanael asked him, ‘Where did you come to know me? ’ Jesus answered, ‘I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you. ’Nathanael replied, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! ’Jesus answered, ‘Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these. ’And he said to him, ‘Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.’ Reflection: 5
Song; The Summons Will you come and follow me If I but call your name? Will you go where you don't know And never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, Will you let my name be known, Will you let my life be grown In you and you in me? Will you leave yourself behind If I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind And never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare Should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer In you and you in me? Will you let the blinded see If I but call your name? Will you set the prisoners free And never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean, And do such as this unseen, And admit to what I mean In you and you in me? Will you love the 'you' you hide If I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside And never be the same? Will you use the faith you've found To reshape the world around, Through my sight and touch and sound In you and you in me?

Lord, your summons echoes true When you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you And never be the same. In your company I'll go Where your love and footsteps show. Thus I'll move and live and grow In you and you in me. Prayers of intercession
The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Song; You shall go out with joy We sing this through three times You Shall Go Out With Joy And Be Led Forth With Peace The Mountains And The Hills Will Break Forth Before You There’ll Be Shouts Of Joy, And All The Trees Of The Field Will Clap, Will Clap Their Hands 7
