Leadership & Training Interested in working with kids? Working with children requires many skills and abilities such as responsibility, leadership, patience, safety, and having fun! Panorama offers several leadership opportunities for youth, which will provide them with the tools needed to lead programs and camps for children. Some of these programs include: Babysitting Training (11-15 yrs) Future Leaders (13-16 yrs) First Aid Courses (12 yrs+) Recreational Skating Instructor Course (15 yrs+) - Offered August 2013 Every year Panorama hires seasonal staff to lead children’s activities and camps. Future Leaders

This program is designed for the modern child who spends more time on his/her own. The after school time or occasional short outings for parents are easily dealt with when children are well prepared. This three-hour course focuses on dealing with home and personal safety, emergency situations and strangers. Please bring a snack and a drink.

Do you love working with kids and have a special interest in recreation leadership? This course is focused on developing leadership skills for children’s recreational camps and programs. Course activities are tailored to promote specific leadership skills, such as motivating others, behaviour management, clear communication, decision-making and maintaining positive attitudes to challenges. This course will also cover resume and cover letter building, as well as future job interview preparation. The ultimate aim is to further develop the capabilities necessary to conduct children’s recreational camps, programs, and gain better insight into strengths and weaknesses to ultimately deliver quality programs. To be successful in this course full attendance is required and 35 hours of volunteer work must be completed with one of our programs, day camps, or an accepted community organization. As a requirement of this course, a Criminal Record Check must be completed (free of charge).

Babysitting Training 11 - 15yrs

Designed by the Canada Safety Council, this course covers rights and responsibilities, child development, behavioral problems, nutrition, safety, handling emergencies or a sick child, games, and basic first aid. Participants will work from a child care manual; each course graduate is presented with a wall certificate and graduation wallet card. Please bring a drink and lunch to each session.

Leadership & Training Safety & First Aid FOODSAFE- Level 1 14 yrs+

Do you want to work in the food service industry? If so, be sure you have your FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate attached to your resume. This eight-hour course is a complete sanitation program for food handlers. Certificates are provided by the BC Ministry of Health and the Greater Victoria FOODSAFE Council after successful completion of the exam.

CPR Level C Recertification

The AED-Responder (Automated External Defibrillator) builds on the skills and knowledge learned in CPR and first aid courses. It provides knowledge of how the heart works, what goes wrong when defibrillation is required and teaches when and how to safely operate an AED. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation trains rescuers in the skills and knowledge needed to assess and provide basic life support to patients with airway, breathing, or circulatory emergencies. Leadership & Training Standard First Aid with CPR C

Emergency First Aid with CPR Level A

Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an indepth understanding of first aid such as: head and spinal injuries, bone and joint injuries, heat or cold illness, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and other medical emergencies. Includes CPR Level C certification. All first aid courses offered through Panorama Recreation comply with Section 23 of the Child Care Licensing Regulation of Community Care and Assisted Living Act.

Emergency First Aid is designed for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid Certification Course for dogs and cats has been taught across Canada for almost 2 decades. BCRPA Fitness Theory Course

Your opportunity to acquire Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross in one challenging camp. Bronze Medallion is your starting point for becoming a Lifeguard.
