WELCOME! Located on the beautiful Saanich Peninsula, Panorama Recreation offers innovative facilities and quality programs and services. From an updated aquatic complex which boasts the tallest and longest indoor waterslide on southern Vancouver Island, to an award-winning racquet sports centre, a fully equipped weight room and two skating arenas, there is something for everyone. Off-site facilities provide a variety of programs to accommodate the growing community.

OUR FACILITIES

We operate two main facilities, Panorama Recreation Centre and Greenglade Community Centre, and utilize additional spaces throughout the community to accommodate a variety of seasonal programming.

Panorama Recreation Centre

AQUATICS Reserve a spot in an aquatic fitness class, lap, leisure, water walk, or family bubble swim! Reservations required and can be done online. FITNESS Offering a variety of indoor and outdoor fitness classes including outdoor Bootcamp, Yoga, TRX, Spin, Movin’ On Up, and more. Reservations required and can be done online. 12yrs+ WEIGHT ROOM The Weight Room has an extensive selection of strength training, cardiovascular equipment and a variety of stability balls, BOSUs, medicine balls, balance boards, tu bing, TRXs and more. Reservations required and can be done online. 13 yrs+ With the completion of the regional youth w eight room orientation program.

ARENA Reserve your spot to one of our Everyone Welcome sessions. Reservations required and can be done online. Skate rentals are available. COURT BOOKINGS Indoor tennis, outdoor tennis and squash courts are available. Court bookings required in advance and can be done online.

Greenglade Community Centre POTTERY Block book the same day and time each week or reserve your spot online up to 1 week in advance. Must have 16hrs+ pottery experience and an orientation or completed a pottery class through Panorama. Reservations required and can be done online. PICKLEBALL Reserve for 1 on 1 Pickleball at Greenglade Community Centre. Sessions area available to book up to 7 days in advance. Bring your own ball and paddle - nets are included.

SWIM LESSONS

ARCHERY PARTIES WITH PACIFIC ARCHERY ACADEMY

REGISTERED BLOCK PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

8 yrs+

Private swim lessons are for up to three participants within your “bubble”. Offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For all Preschool Levels and Swim Kids Levels 1 to 4, parent participation per child required in the water.

Celebrate your birthday with a different type of bow…one with an arrow! Learn the basics of archery while having fun shooting at balloons and targets. Each party is two hours long and includes one hour of activity followed by one hour of party room and/or gymnasium free play time. A selection of basic sports equipment and “garden games” will be available for gymnasium free play use. MUDDY FUN IN CLAY CAMP

SWIM LESSONS

Fire up your creativity and mould your ideas with the magical material of clay! Sculpt and handbuild projects. Each day brings new exciting shapes and projects that incorporate different clay skills and knowledge. Projects will be decorated in class, then available for pick-up 2-3 weeks after creation. Families will be notified when pieces are ready.

Your instructor will teach skills from the pool deck.

Parent participation is required to supervise and provides hands-on assistance for your child to practice their skills for all preschool levels and swim kids levels 1-4.

Please come “swim ready” in your swim suit. Change rooms will be available for a short time following your lesson.

10-16yrs Our youth course teaches traffic safety, cyclist responsibilities, and bike handling skills to develop safe cycling behaviors. The course is being offered in a hybrid format (a 1 hour pre-course webinar is accessible a week before the course begins, the rest of the course is offered in-person). The course ends with a guided road ride where participants are able to apply their new knowledge and skills through various traffic situations on quiet, residential streets. NATIONAL LIFEGUARD (NL)

BRONZE MEDALLION

The NL program develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, communication skills, and a mature responsible attitude toward the role. Candidates will develop physical fitness, theoretical and practical knowledge. Fee includes whistle and pocket masks. Prerequisites: 15 years of age, Bronze Cross, and Standard First Aid. 100% attendance is mandatory.

13 yrs+ Bronze Medallion, as the flagship certification, teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Bronze Medallion challenges the candidate both mentally and physically. Judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness – the four components of water rescue – form the basis of Bronze Medallion training. Candidates acquire the assessment and problemsolving skills needed to make good decisions in, on and around the water. BRONZE CROSS 13 yrs+ Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training, including an introduction to safety supervision. This Lifesaving Society’s program the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR STEP #1 15 yrs+ The Water Safety Program prepares you to instruct Red Cross swim lessons. The full course will evaluate strokes and skills equivalent to Red Cross Swim Kids 10. Guides participants through the online portion of the course. Included is the 10 hours teaching experience. WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR STEP #2 15 yrs+ The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course prepares candidates to instruct the Red Cross Swim programs. Candidates focus on strategies to introduce and develop fitness activities, skills and water safety, and swimming skills in the Red Cross Swim Preschool and Red Cross Swim Kids. This course certifies students to be a Red Cross swimming instructor. There are two steps to the WSI course. These two courses must be taken in the correct order. Whether your completely new to acrylic pouring or have lots of experience you will enjoy the variety of each class. Each workshop will focus on a specific acrylic pour technique and all levels are welcome. Supplies are included, please bring two canvas 10” x 10” or 9” x 12”, gloves, and a face covering/mask.

Join us for a half day workshop making beautiful works of art with brilliant, vibrant, glittering alcohol inks. You do not need any ability to paint or draw to make a stunningly beautiful work for art. Learn the basics of clay and the pottery process in this class! We will cover centering and throwing on the wheel for creation of simple forms like cylinders and bowls, along with basic hand building. Begin with raw clay then complete the process of trimming and adding handles before finishing pieces with decoration and glazing. One bag of clay included. Please purchase pottery starter tool kit.

Register to reserve your spot in the pottery studio. Each session is 3 hours in length with a maximum of 4 participants. All participants must have at least 16 hours of pottery experience. FREEDOM 55+ BIKE SKILLS COURSE 55 yrs+ Freedom 55 is an Adult Bike Skills course designed to build the skills and confidence of beginner or returning riders, aged 55 and up, to make cycling fun and safe. MIND & BODY HEALING MEDITATION 18 yrs+ Meditation and mindfulness practice calms the body and mind so you can de-stress, find a sense of peace and improve your level of happiness. These yoga practices are powerful tools used in preventative medicine to avoid, or manage health conditions such as anxiety/ depression, high blood pressure, heart problems, adrenal fatigue, insomnia, immunity disorders and gastrointestinal disorders. In this program, you will learn self-regulated techniques to balance your body with gentle stretches, breath and intention. Some yoga experience is beneficial, but not required. This is a good class to cover basic principles of proper alignment and body mechanics, isolate the muscles and restore a balance to the body; engaging and strengthening all the core muscles to improve fitness and prevent injuries. Pilates was designed to increase strength, flexibility and vitality and we do this as we are gentle on the joints.

Working to open locked areas of the body and establish increased self awareness. Using our body, our mind and our inner being to explore yoga poses. When needed this work is supplemented with props like straps, tables, chairs, blocks. The outcome achieved with devoted practice is mobility, stability, stamina, strength, and balance.

This class offers the chance to get into your favorite yoga flow sequences while rocking to electric beats all class long. No experience necessary, the music melds in with the moves, and the moves are in tune with your breath, for the ultimate, fun and funky workout.

Cultivate and increase flexibility, strength, playful mobility, balance and breath awareness. You will be led through a sequence of yoga positions focusing on opening up the hips, quads, and hamstrings. Stretches will also focus on the neck, shoulders and chest, as well as strengthening the arms and lower back. Enjoy a calming initial and final deep relaxation portion. Developed by BC Women’s Hospital, this is a fallprevention program consisting of strength, balance and stretching exercises that are safe for those with osteoporosis. You will also improve your posture by strengthening and stretching specific muscle groups, which can reduce pain and other consequences of poor body alignment.

50 yrs+ This class combines low impact cardio, strength training, standing core and balance work. Participants will use a combination of small free weights, bands, body bars and gliders in various ways to challenge their balance and coordination. Please note when registering, 90% of the class consists of standing exercises.
