Summer Camps Welcome to summer! Panorama Recreation is excited to offer over 50 exciting camps this summer! We’ve carefully planned our programs to accommodate the interests, needs and abilities of all of the youth in our community. We’ve even included some flexible options at Greenglade Community Centre and Centennial park, where you can choose between morning, afternoon or full-day camps, and where you can also choose between daily and weekly registration! How convenient is that?! This summer, we are especially excited to make use of the new playground at Centennial Park! Did you know that playgrounds contribute to a child’s cognitive and physical development? Play structures also promote language development, intelligence and social skills. The new playground at Centennial Park was designed to facilitate these processes while encouraging inclusive play, offering play elements for children of all abilities. The playground, which was built with funding assistance from the Government of BC’s Community Recreation Program, includes two zones, one recommended for 2-5 years, and the other for 5-12 years. The playground also features accessible pathways connecting key amenities and a central viewing “plaza” with seating and picnic tables. Our camp leaders are excited to incorporate plenty of playground time into each No pre care, post care or camps July 1st & August 4th.

Aqua Bootcamp 8 - 9pm

The Aqua Spin classes are similar to a spinning class but take place on a Hydrorider bike that has been built for the water. Cycling in the water causes less impact on your back and joints and the constant water massage enhances circulation and increases blood flow. Bike classes are limited to 13 participants and are available on a first-come, first served basis. See below on how to reserve Spin bikes. Aqua Yoga takes the principles and movements of Yoga and adapts them to the water environment. You feel virtually weightless in water so the stretches and movements can be accomplished without strain. It makes exercising safer for many people; especially those with weight problems, injuries or who are pregnant.

Deep Power, All Classes will provide you with a challenging workout with little to no impact on your joints! Start each class Shallow, Combo, with 5-10 min of warm-up, 30-35 min of cardio and 10-15 min of strength and stretching. Aqua Boot Camp Light and Easy Aquafit

This exercise program is suitable for people who have recovered from an injury and/or surgery, live with arthritis or are currently sedentary. Our instructors will take you through exercises that work on range of motion, flexibility and light walking. Great peer support and social interaction.

To reserve Spin bikes: Option 1: Pay the drop-in rate or swipe your active pass and pick up your ticket from reception up to 30 minutes prior to the class start time. Option 2: To reserve in advance, book a bike 60 minutes or more prior to the start of the class online at www.panoramarecreation.ca. A $2+gst reservation fee per bike per class applies. Swimming & Aquatic Activities Pool closure Clean pools are fun pools! Keep these things in mind the next time you visit the pool at Panorama: • Showers are required before entering the pools to wash off any dirt and body oils (BC Health Act). • Please use the washroom before entering the pool. •

If you have children, ask throughout the swim if they need to use the washroom.

Parents are strongly encouraged to use swim diapers for their young children.

Children under 3 years of age must wear a swim diaper.

Accessible Waterslide

• Reusable and disposable child-sized diapers can be purchased at reception. If you forget your swim diaper, please ask reception for a sample.

Panorama Recreation offers the only accessible waterslide in North America! The waterslide features an elevator from the pool deck to the top. Breath taking views can be taken in before heading down the waterslide!

Pool closures are an inconvenience for everyone. If a pool is closed due to an accident, it may be closed for a half hour or up to 13 hours. It takes a little bit of effort from everyone to keep our pools clean and open! Thank you for your cooperation!

Patrons who have a disability are now able to enjoy the thrills and joys of riding a waterslide. The waterslide also features lifts at the top and the bottom of the waterslide to assist entry and removal for the person with a disability. For those who are unable to support themselves or require significant assistance, assisted double riding is available! There are 3 Waiver forms that must be filled out for the Parent, Caregiver, and the Patron. Waivers can be picked up at reception or downloaded from our website www.panoramarecreation.ca. Go to the Swimming Pool Drop in Schedule for more information. Waterslide as well as assisted double riding videos are viewable too! Special gear must be worn to protect the person with a disability as well as the Caregiver or Parent riding the waterslide.

Slider wants to remind you that children 6 & under must be in arms reach of a guardian 16+ years at all times.

Panorama Lifeguards and Staff are happy to assist with any questions or concerns you may have. Please bring your completed waiver forms to the lifeguards to review prior to riding the waterslide. Happy Riding!

Swimming & Aquatic Activities Hayley Zedal Hayley Zedal has been working at Panorama for four years as a lifeguard, swim instructor and aquafit instructor. Hayley wanted to become a lifeguard and swim instructor because she thought it would be a fun and exciting job that challenged both her intelligence and her physical fitness. Hayley’s favorite part of being a lifeguard is that she has the skills to deal with minor and major emergencies and also be able to prevent those emergencies through education of water safety. She also emphasized that, “being active while working is a bonus! “. Hayley’s favorite level to teach are the “not so sure” levels. Here is what she means, “I love teaching kids and adults who are unsure of their swimming level or ability, and that way we improve their swimming as much as we can and see what level we can get to!” Hayley is presently working on becoming a registered Holistic Nutritionist that she hopes to have completed in August. To add she is very proud of completing her Personal Trainer Certification through the BCRPA. Hayley’s ultimate career goal is to own a business as a Holistic Nutritionist/ Personal Trainer and a Yoga Instructor. If you do not see Hayley working at Panorama or studying she is hiking, doing yoga, creating art master pieces, swimming at a lake or ocean, wake skating or wake boarding! To add, in her limited free time she loves to bake and cook. One thing that most people do not know about Hayley is that she used to be a terrible swimmer! Hayley has come a long way, but she still wants to perfect her butterfly stroke. Lastly, Hayley has a swimming tip for everyone, “The hardest part about swimming is relaxing and breathing, if you can do those two things you’re swimming in the right direction!” Thank you Hayley!

Stand up paddle-boarding is an emerging global sport with a Hawaiian heritage. This ancient form of surfing can be traced back to the early days of Polynesia. This activity benefits participants with a strong ‘core’ workout. This introductory course will teach about the subtle difference and styles of boards, paddles, and equipment. By the end of the 3-hour session, you will be able to paddle your board in a straight line, stop, be able to do several different strokes to maneuver yourself sideways and around obstacles; and be able to do a self-rescue.
