Welcome to our annual bull sale!!! This is something Melissa and I have been dreaming of since a young cowboy from Irvine was courting a Stampede princess from Hatton, Saskatchewan! Three kids later, a few more dogs, lots more cows and fence, a couple more horses, and a change of scenery and here we are. The cattle business is something we both grew up in and both love doing. There is nothing better than being able to work side by side with your partner and kids, especially sorting cows in the corral and taking pictures for the sale, right honey? There has been a few things that try to stand in the way like BSE, drought, snow storms, fluctuating markets, Melissa’s favourite; unexpected machinery repairs, Covid and did I mention drought? I guess nobody said it would be easy. We would like to thank our family and friends that have helped us along the way. Thanks also goes out to the Craigs, Forbes and Weiss families for letting us be part of their good sale the last couple of years. To all of our previous customers a big THANK YOU goes out to you as well as we obviously couldn’t do it without you. The cows that back these bulls up are working cows. Our purebred cows are ran like commercial cows. They must forage in the Sandhills until close to Christmas, then they come home for calving and feed. Once mid-April hits they are

back out foraging. They must be able to walk on good feet and raise a calf on grass alone. NO CREEP HERE. The calves are weaned first part of October, the bulls are fed free choice hay and 1.15% bull ration from Trouw Nutrition. The bulls are never pushed to take a picture or get better EPDS. They are designed for the long term in mind. The birth and weaning weights listed are their actual weights not adjusted weights. We evaluate our cattle from the feet up not the opposite. If we cannot get past the dew claws without an issue we don’t use them. No matter how good they might be otherwise. We love showing our cattle in their natural element. Red Angus Bulls We always wanted to expand our herd and add a complimentary breed to our blacks. Over the last few years, while reviewing our commercial herd calving during the cold Spring, we have realized that Angus cattle are the best Mama cows around. They have those calves up sucking and gone before you even get there. So it was a no brainer for us to add Red Angus cattle to our program. When a few top end dispersals came up we jumped on the chance. Our red program is the same as the blacks. They have to forage, walk on a good foot, raise a big calf come Fall and breed back. We are very pleased with the offering of Red Bulls for our first sale. In our opinion, one of the best indicators of the quality of a cow is the consistency in her calves. Let’s take a look at 69C. Bull Sale 2021

TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Should the purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Hawkeye Ranching Company Ltd. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage, either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale, together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The owners, and sale staff have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment and/or who has not made prior credit arrangements prior to the sale with the owners. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

HEALTH: It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Bulls sell with passing breeding soundness evaluations unless otherwise announced.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. In the cases of bulls, they are guaranteed to breed naturally according to applicable Canadian breed Association guarantee, but no guarantee is given that semen from any bull will freeze.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both.
