Editor’s Note…………………..…………1

Hey Key Clubbers!

May Events………….…………………..2

Now that DCON is over, the old officers have finished their term, and your 2010-2011 electees now officially make up the new board. Remember to thank the old board members for making 2009-2010 so wonderful! The fourth quarter is also halfway done! Summer is almost here so those of you who have nothing to do over the summer should start thinking about attending Relay for Life and coming out to volunteer. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen have STAR testing this month. AP testing is also this month, so seniors, juniors and those few sophomores should study hard and get 5’s on their tests! On another note, Fast for Awareness is this month on the 21st and 22nd! Come support Action Against Hunger their fight to combat hunger in Africa by raising awareness and raising donations. The required donation is $30, but the more the better. Invite as many people as you can to participate in the event; it’s a very fun one and I encourage you all to come. More information on this event will be mentioned later in this bulletin.

Sincerely, Jodie Chen Bulletin Editor

The Stanford Blood Center is low on supplies and needs as many donations as possible. :)

The annual May Fete is a great way for Key Clubbers to give back to our local community!

When: Friday, May 21st, 5:00PM – Saturday, May 22nd, 12:00AM (Fasting starts at 6:00AM on the 21st) Where: Palo Alto High School, 50 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto, CA 94301 What: The Fast for Awareness at Palo Alto High School will take place from Friday, May 21 to Saturday, May 22. The 30-hour fast begins at 6AM on Friday. At 5PM that afternoon, participants will gather at the Palo Alto High School Small Gym. Fasters will also sleepover in the small gym, having fun while also learning more about global hunger and the steps involved in combating it. A variety of activities and entertainment will be provided. At noon on Saturday, fasters will enjoy a thank-you lunch and everyone will break the 30-hour fast together in unison. By participating in this event you will also receive service hours through community service events. To participate in this event, you must fundraise at least $30 through family, your community, work, your school, etc... However, you are strongly recommended to fundraise at least $100. Why:

Fast for Awareness is an initiative which raises monetary aid while increasing awareness about world hunger. Participants voluntarily fast for 30 hours, drinking only water and juice. By experiencing hunger, participants can better understand the brutal reality of starvation, and gain personal awareness of global hunger.
