Message From The Founder and President

Herme de Wyman Miro

The International Society of Palm Beach was founded by my late husband, René de Wyman and myself, with the dedicated purpose to make a difference in the lives of many by giving something back to our community. As the International Society of Palm Beach, “ Our Labor of Love”, celebrates another year, I am proud to tell you that the Society has been able to distribute over 3 million dollars in grants and scholarships thanks to the generosity of the Society’s Great Grand Benefactors, Grand Benefactors and Patrons. The Society’s contribution to our community is to give scholarships and grants by supporting the arts, fostering education, furthering medicine and research, supporting child welfare, animal welfare and other humanitarian causes. The International Society of Palm Beach consists of internationally minded people whose interests and tastes are similar and who enjoy each other’s company at the Society’s varied and interesting functions. I hope you will join us and enjoy “A Night In Vienna”, at the Beach Club.

The invitation read 10 pm and when we arrived we had to wait in line for security to make sure that we were valid partiers. Finally the mini-bus arrived and it was a fabulous sight to see the home and more than 600 jet setters from all over the world! The theme was La Fete Gitane (Gypsy) which is one of my favorites! The party and the great entertainment was around the pool and the night ended with a spectacular fireworks show. Photos by Maya Johnson

Rose Glamoclija understands as well as anyone the importance of dealing with health professionals who are focused on meeting the specific needs of the client. This is her goal at Boca Nursing Services, which she launched 18 years ago after spending time as a registered nurse who worked with private patients. “Continuity is very important to our clients,” Glamoclija says. “It’s comforting to know that someone who understands what you need and want is always available to help.” To help ensure continuity of care and provide peace of mind for her patients and their families, Glamoclija developed a team approach designed to provide each client with a team of caregivers. “When I first meet with a patient, I immediately have an idea of which caregivers will make the best team,” she says. “We’ve discovered that there is a high degree of patient satisfaction that results from matching the right team to the patient.” At Boca Nursing Services, it’s not unusual for a team of caregivers to stay with a patient for many years.“Whether they’re at home or in the hospital, our clients are able to live more enjoyable lives thanks to the team approach,” Glamoclija says.

THE 2011 ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION October 25, 2011 | Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York The 28th annual Alzheimer’s Association’s New York Rita Hayworth Gala hold Tuesday, October 25th at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, New York. The theme, “Hollywood Glamour,” emboyes the glamour of Rita Hayworth while also shining a spotlight on Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and an estimated 5.4 million Americans are living with this disease. With the continued support of generous donors, the Alzheimer’s Association strives for a world without Alzheimer’s, funding research that will lead to earlier identification of Alzheimer’s and therapies that will one day slow or stop the progression of this fatal disease, all while providing individuals and families impacted with care and support resources. The 2011 Rita Hayworth Gala was a fabulous evening of dinner, dancing and renewed hope toward a future without Alzheimer’s disease. Since the inaugural Rita Hayworth Gala in New York nearly three decades ago, the New York, Chicago and Dallas events have raised more than $53 million to support Alzheimer’s Association’s critical care and research programs. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan established the Gala as a tribute to her mother, Rita Hayworth, who lived with Alzheimer’s disease for many years before her death in 1987. She has remained an active leader, as General Chair of the Rita Hayworth Galas, inspiring generous financial support for the Alzheimer’s Association.

In competition with seven other hotel restaurants throughout Europe, this magazine for the hotel sector chose to award this prestigious prize to Le 114 Faubourg, an excellent acknowledgement of the quality of the dishes proposed on the menu and its outstanding service. Although the awards panel appreciated the colourful and original decor, it was above all the uniqueness of the establishment’s cuisine and the talent of its young Chef Eric Desbordes, supervised by the three times star winning Chef Eric Frechon, which enabled the establishment to scoop thismuchcoveted award. Le Bristol’s President & General Manager, Didier Le Calvez, described his delight at receiving this award: “This is an excellent reward for the teams at Le 114 Faubourg who give their best for our guests everyday, but also for Le Bristol and the Oetker group”. This prize is certainly a sign of great things to come for Le 114 Faubourg which only opened in September 2009!
