Screenings Double Bill: The Life and Death of Frida Kahlo/ Diego Rivera: Revolutionary with a Paintbox Thursday 11 August, 6pm (contains 10 min interval) To complement the major summer exhibition this double bill kicks off with a screening of the original documentary that brought Frida Kahlo to a wider public. Narrated by the eleven people who knew her best, 'The Life and Death of Frida Kahlo' (1966, 40mins) traces a life that wavered on the cutting edge of art and politics during the 1930s. The second film shifts the focus to Diego Rivera who once stated that 'if art is not revolutionary, it is not art'. This fascinating documentary looks at how he began painting and his lasting legacy as one of the foremost Mexican muralists. (Arena, BBC, 1975, 60 mins) £5 (£4 students, £3.50 Friends)  Frida, Naturaleza Viva Thursday 25 August, 6pm This fictionalised documentary investigates the agonies and ecstasies that punctuated Frida Kahlo's life, in a series of dramatised flashbacks as she lies on her deathbed. Leduc's approach is painstakingly detailed, choosing an actress with an uncanny resemblance to the artist and using Kahlo's own clothes, bed and even paintings as props. (Paul Leduc, Mexico 1984, 108 mins, subs) £5 (£4 students, £3.50 Friends)  Frida and Diego Film Festival at Chichester Cinema at New Park 18 August – 4 September 2011 To complement the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibition at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester Cinema at New Park in partnership with the Gallery is presenting a series of related films and an illustrated talk during the Film Festival Full details will be available in the Festival Brochure, and on the website: www.chichestercinema.com Box Office 01243 786650
