WELCOME... the Palace Theatre Paignton There’s no experience like it - that feeling when the house lights go out, the curtains open and the performance starts… Welcome to our wonderful theatre, in the heart of the English Riviera, providing a lively and interesting programme of entertainment throughout the year. Looking back, it is now a year since the running of the theatre moved from Torbay Council to our new Community Interest Company, Jazz Hands CIC. The Jazz Hands ethos is all about injecting enthusiasm, colour and excitement into the heart of this theatre and celebrating it’s place in the centre of Paignton life for nearly 130 years. Looking to the future, our expanding programme is reaching new audiences and our growing army of patrons, supporters and friends are all helping to give this theatre a wonderful atmosphere. Rick Buckler of The Jam This is a unique evening with Rick Buckler the drummer with THE JAM… explaining up close and personal about his adventures with the band. In an evening of spoken word Rick explains all, and of course it’s your opportunity to ask him stuff too. This evening also puts the spotlight on his recent books: ‘THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT, THE START TO ’77’ - a unique book illustrated in comic book style and most recently ‘THIS DAY IN MUSIC’. Described as ‘Sade meets Joni Mitchell’, London-based Odette is a rising singer-songwriter with a fresh new sound. Odette has received great reviews for her debut album, ‘A Shake Of The Hand’ and you’ll find many subtle influences on hearing her songs, including folk, jazz and world music. Her songs are fresh, uplifting and ‘sun-kissed’, to quote The Sunday Times. Odette and her 5-piece band have been taking many festivals and jazz venues by storm including Fleece Jazz, Whitby Musicport Festival, Wigan Jazz Festival and the Colchester Arts Centre Jazz Club. Dial M for Murder Tony Wendice has married Margot, for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. He arranges the perfect murder, unfortunately the murderer gets murdered and the victim survives. But this doesn't baffle the husband; he sees his hireling's death as an opportunity to have his wife convicted for the murder, but will everything go to plan? A classic thriller full of suspense. Rock and Roll Revolution featuring The Bluejays The Bluejays, winners of the National Vintage Award for Best Entertainment, are your hosts for an electrifying and authentic tribute to the music of the 1950s. Pearls Before Poppies: The Story of The Red Cross Pearls Rachel Trethewy - ‘An Audience’ at the Palace events. Monthly talks with interesting folk on fabulous subjects! Rachel’s Trethewy’s book tells the story of the spectacularly successful 1918 appeal to the women of Britain and the Empire to donate a single pearl to the British Red Cross ‘in memory of a life lost or changed forever’ by the Great War. Genesis Connected

This show has an incredible mix of material, from atmospheric anthems to chart toppers – you’ll be dancing in the aisles. Hits spanning from the late 70s onwards including; Turn It On Again, Sledgehammer, In The Air Tonight, Against All Odds, Solsbury Hill, You Can’t Hurry Love, The Living Years and many more. The frontman, Pete Bultitude, is not only an incredibly versatile vocalist, he is also a truly gifted drummer, just like Phil Collins, so expect the show to include the iconic “double drums” element as featured on every Genesis and Phil Collins tour. Sing a Song O’Scrooge A festive show setting Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol to music from many of the well-known, and loved, Gilbert & Sullivan operas. In his one-man show Brian Freeland captures the high-tide of seaside entertainment in his evocation of Clarkson Rose and his partner Olive who delighted audiences with their show, ‘Twinkle’, for almost 50 years, three of these in Torquay during WW2 when the pier at Eastbourne had to be closed. Wall of Floyd

Fantastic musicianship and sound combine with a great light show to deliver an unforgettable experience. Returning to the Palace in 2020 … The Wall of Floyd, a leading tribute to Pink Floyd with collectively over 75 years of studio and live performance between them. This 7-piece band aims to sonically reproduce Pink Floyd’s music as accurately as possible with a stage show to match, performing fan-favourites from across Pink Floyd’s back catalogue including hits from The Wall and Wish You Were Here, right up to their final album, The Endless River.
