Wild Thing Escape away to an exotic place with lifestyle brand Kip&Co, best known for its vivacious hues, fresh florals, rainforest palms, tribal patterns and animal prints. Places Magazine recently spoke to Alex from Kip&Co following the much-anticipated release of their SS17 ‘EDEN’ Collection. Tell us about Kip&Co. Kip&Co was started in 2012 by sisters Kate Heppell and Hayley Pannekoecke and me, their bestie, Alex McCabe. We were all busy juggling other commitments in our lives but wanted to create a business together where we could put our passion for design and interiors to good use. Kip&Co was originally conceived as an adult bedding line, filling the gap for bright, bold, beautiful products amongst a sea of white. The response was overwhelmingly positive and we’ve now expanded to create products for almost every corner of the home, including kids and baby bedding, blankets, throws, bags, sleepwear and more. Our operations have expanded from out of Hayley’s garage, to warehouses in Melbourne and LA. Our products are now shipping all around the world, it’s been an amazing five years!


We are loving your newest collection, tell us about it. Our latest collection titled EDEN, is a little wild at heart! The range has been inspired by the beat of the tropical drum, to bring you a slice of paradise bliss. This is our eleventh collection and it’s full of fresh florals and rainforest palms, tribal patterns and animal prints. We designed this collection with a motive to make our customers feel invigorated, fresh and neon bright with adult, kids and baby bedding, homewares, bath, travel accessories, tableware, and sleepwear.

What design and style trends should we look out for this summer? We try not to follow trends as we want Kip&Co goodies to be able to mix and match with the rest of your house for years to come. Timeless fabrics like velvet and French linen continue to be favourites, adding a beautiful high quality texture to your home. I do think people are really embracing greenery at the moment too - and that has inspired lots of beautiful deep green tones and botanical prints.

EDEN includes the launch of some exciting new capsules including super soft and light waffle towels, robes, ponchos and baby towels in gelato inspired tones - perfect for hot summer days. Kip&Co has also expanded its travel capsule to include a trolley bag perfect for a cheeky weekend away in style, and a go-to duffle bag for every day. Back by popular demand, some of Kip&Co’s favourite vintage prints have been growing in the garden of EDEN, including the iconic banana and bloomin silver.
