US adds Russian oil field in sanctions list WASHINGTON—The United States has added a Russian oil and gas field, the YuzhnoKirinskoye Field, to its list of energy sector sanctions prompted by Moscow’s actions in Ukraine, drawing a prompt rebuke from the Kremlin on Friday. The federal government said on Thursday the field, located in the Sea of Okhotsk of the Siberian coast and owned by Russia’s leading gas producer Gazprom, contains substantial reserves of oil in addition to reserves of gas. “The Yuzhno-Kirinskoye Field is being added to the Entity List because it is reported to contain substantial reserves of oil,” according to a rule notice in the Federal Register. A Kremlin spokesman criticized the move. “Unfortunately, (this decision) further damages our bilateral relations,” spokesman

Indian army captain killed in Gurez SRINAGAR—An army officer was killed after he slipped and rolled down into a deep gorge near Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday. A senior army official said that army’s 36 RR had l aunched massive searches in the forest area of Koragbal close to the LoC during intervening night of August 07/08. “Today early in the morning as the searches were under way, an army Captain Prem Kumar slipped and rolled down into a deep gorge”, he said, adding that the injured officer was shifted to nearby hospital where from he was later airlifted to military hospital here in Srinagar.

Addressing flood victims in Isakhel, the premier expressed grief over the loss of lives and promised necessary action to prevent floods caused by hill torrents and announced Rs300 million assistance for the flood victims. The premier shed light on the importance of building more dams in order to avoid devastation caused by floods. He reassured the people that the government is prioritising development of underdeveloped areas in order to bring them at par with developed areas. Inquiry Committee report presented to Shahbaz OUR CORRESPONDENT KASUR—Eight men accused of being involved in a child abuse and child pornography scandal, which is said to have affected around 280 children, have been arrested, a report submitted to the Punjab chief minister revealed. The report, prepared by an inquiry committee formed to investigate the case, added that raids are being conducted to apprehend three other culprits, says a private TV channel. The committee, comprising Additional Inspector General Arif Nawaz Khan and Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Sunbal, presented its findings to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who
has directed authorities to apprehend any individual involved in such incidents. A gang of 20 to 25 individuals had reportedly made about 400 videos of sexual abuse of at least 280 children belonging to a village near Depalpur Road in Kasur. An FIR of the case was registered on July 1, while another FIR against 15 persons was registered in Ganda Singh police station on July 6. The Punjab chief minister took notice after clashes erupted over the past few days between protesters and police in villages around Kasur, some of which grew violent, injuring both citizens and policemen. Protesters came out on the streets after news broke out of

According to a statement by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, 16 Pakistani prisoners, whose nationality has been confirmed by Pakistani authorities, are being repatriated to Pakistan via Wagah border.
