DCON RECAP Get lost in the magic of service

DAY 1

H

undreds of people attended this years Pennsylvania District Convention at the Penn Stater Hotel in State College. Key Clubbers from all over the district met and enjoyed a majestic weekend beginning on Friday. March 11th to Sunday, March 13. The first day began with opening session where our 2015-2016 Immediate Past Governor, Lindsey Macgregor, called to order and addressed us to start off our fairy tale themed convention. After that, our PA Kiwanis District Governor, Jen Vare, welcomed us with a heart warming introduction to the reason why she joined the Kiwanis family and continues to serve her community. We also had a very special guest to address our keynote speech later in the session. Coming all the way from Springfield, Missouri, Kyle Scheele, an inspiring speaker and writer took the stage to warm us up about the magic of service. After the session, all Key Clubbers were invited to a night of fun at our Meet and Serve, in which participants were split among the many different prince and princesses (pictured below!) to compete in fairy tale themed mini-games!

LETTER FROM THE GOVERNOR Greetings Pennsylvania Key Clubbers,

I am Morgan Coolbaugh, your new Governor for the 2016 – 2017 Key Club year! I am very excited to be working with all of you. For those of you who could not attend convention or did not meet me, here are some things about me. I am a 17- year- old junior at Wyoming Area, where I have been active in Builder’s Club and Key Club. I have served as lieutenant governor in division 15 North and in division 15 South. Like many teenagers I am also involved in extracurricular activity such as Field Hockey, FBLA, Track & Field, and church sodality. With this said I am a hard worker, dependable, trustworthy, organized, and responsible. My goals as Governor are to improve the communication between all levels of the K-Family. We need to start with our youth because they are our future. Once we graduate out of Key Club we have the amazing opportunity to join a Circle K in college, like Key Club has helped you through high school, Circle –K will help you through college. Of course we would not be here if it was not for our parent organization – Kiwanis. Kiwanians are always there to support us and we have to be there for them. My final goal is to increase club involvement in the District Operations. Most key club members do not know how this district runs. I plan on keeping members informed of district operations. Of course I will fulfil my duties of Governor, as well as what I have mentioned above.

Yours in Service and Friendship, Morgan Coolbaugh Pennsylvania District of Key Club International Governor
