THAT’S RUBBISH Duration: 50mins

Dragonfly Dreaming Puppet Theatre

Ages: 3-11

Based on the simple principles of ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’, That’s Rubbish is a puppet show which uses the animated thoughts and feelings of puppet characters made from plastic bags, discarded fruit and thrown away milk bottles to tell a story of how we deal with our waste. Performed from inside a giant transformable skip, these characters, along with a resident rat, go on a journey from the local dump to the supermarket shelves and checkout, even into the recycling bins of peoples homes. Their mission is to sort out rubbish habits and to save themselves from drowning in the sea of rubbish we throw away every day. Join Skiprat and his rubbish characters as they take us on a litter strewn journey from polystyrene to potato skins, via the supermarket, a compost bin and the local dump! This play aims to cut out the junk, keep all the good bits and introduce new ideas from the same old rubbish! An accompanying workshop is also available - please enquire.

THE DRAGON OF KRAKOW Duration: 60mins

Clive Chandler Collective

Ages: 8+

Featuring original music and stunning visuals, this Polish legend begins with an egg and ends with an explosion. A monstrous dragon comes to life and sets out to destroy but a clever young shoemaker saves the day. Two workers enter a room and uncover the beginnings of an old story. As it unfolds they become caught up in the middle of it, making clever use of the objects around them to bring it to life in a series of magical transformations. They make huge shadows and project giant moving images, which they create in sand and liquids. This production is full of the kind of inventiveness which delights imaginative older children. Sometimes scary and frequently funny. Often loud then suddenly soft. Always full of surprises and sure to leave you with a smile. Created by a collective, which includes Martin Bridle and Clive Chandler - two of the most experienced artists in UK puppetry - working with Jamie Duncombe. Original music by Ed Briggs.

An intriguing and magical show - you never knew what was going to happen next; the children were spellbound. Director, Newhampton Arts Centre
