3. Our approach to marketing & advertising

As you might have gathered, we operate slightly differently from other traditional media buying agencies. With a team that includes former media executives, we have the relationships, planning skills and tools to build high profile, impactful campaigns that get our clients in front of their target audience, and noticed for all the right reasons.

A little bit different Our approach is unique. We don’t just book ‘off the shelf’ campaigns - instead we create bespoke media plans that are cohesive and precisely targeted. These packages of print, broadcast, ‘out of home’, digital and ambient media are tailored to produce the best possible results for our clients, and deliver exceptional return on investment.

Not just buying space! We know that media buying is about more than just buying media! and it’s not just about the amount of space we secure, it’s about the content; it’s about the placement; it’s about the context; and for our clients, it’s about the added value we bring.

Partnership and ‘being on the inside’ We treat the media as partners rather than negotiating adversaries, assisted by the fact that a number of our team have ‘been on the inside’ of the media. As a result, we have great personal relationships with the key decision makers, giving us a clear understanding of where we can press for more!!

3. Our approach to marketing & advertising

Adding value This, allied to the amount of media we buy for our other clients, ensures that we can purchase media at excellent rates. Not the traditional way of media buying based on volume discounting, but an approach that adds more value; maximising allocated campaign budgets to deliver exceptional ROI both in terms of exposure and response generation.

Well versed across all media The media landscape has changed hugely over the past few years. It continues to change at a rapid pace. Our experience ensures that we are perfectly placed to provide your business with a range of advertising options from traditional formats through to social media and digital.

5. Measuring success

We have a range of bespoke tools in place that make the planning and evaluation of major media campaigns simple and straightforward for you to understand and manage.

Measuring success Clear scheduling

Weekly update reports

E-ad design book

Delivery analysis

These tools enable us to deliver regular reporting formats, but more importantly, the bespoke nature of the analysis we provide allows you to be able to draw immediate and up-to-date data from the planning and evaluation tables.

So what does that mean? • Clear schedule information for the entire campaign period detailing deadlines, publication/broadcast dates and production requirements • Weekly update reports detailing the key campaign requirements for the following week • Post-campaign e-vouchering service for print advertising • Post-campaign delivery analysis, for example TV ratings delivery, out of home OTS and PPC performance. All of the material detailed is bespoke and tested across all media, be it press, online, trade, broadcast, ‘out of home’ and ambient. And, if you don’t like stats, just look at your initial objectives and we are sure you will be happy with the results......more sales, increased awareness, behavioural shift, great web traffic, brand development or beating the competition.

7. So who will I be working with?

From our designers to our MD, the whole team at Press Ahead is committed to the same goal delivering outstanding campaigns and projects that help our clients stand out from the crowd.

Kieron Goldsborough - the gaffer Formerly our Creative Director, Kieron recently led the management buy-out of Press Ahead, becoming MD in 2014. He has a wealth of business and entrepreneurial experience gained over 15 years of working in high pressure creative, media and agency environments. Previously, as Creative Director, he kept (and still does keep!!) a close eye on all design and print projects. Before joining Press Ahead in 2011, he spent over 10 years at ncjMedia and Gazette Media Company managing large teams of designers and coming up with a few half decent campaigns along the way! He is a good egg and likes to support up and coming design talent and as such is part of the Cleveland College of Art and Design professional liaison group. Kieron leads on several of our key clients, including social housing giants – Coast & Country and North Star Housing, along with Berghaus and Huntsman.

James Ealey - Mr. Media Meticulous and diligent; James is the consummate professional. With a penchant for detail, he really loves a good spreadsheet and spends many an hour ensuring our client media projects run to military precision. Previously marketing manager at Ward Hadaway solicitors, he also spent several years in a similar role at Trinity Mirror North East. Well versed across the marketing communications spectrum, he especially enjoys; project/campaign management, media buying/ negotiation, business planning, market research, budget and brand management.

Joanna Taylor - the queen of media planning and buying Prior to joining Press Ahead, Joanna spent her formative advertising years in some of the region’s top agencies, planning and buying for accounts such as Co-operative Food, Anglia Regional Coop, Hilco, East of England Co-op, University of Sunderland and Sunderland Housing Group (now Gentoo). Joanna is a true “people person” and firmly believes that building relationships is the key to success in advertising, whether they be with clients, suppliers or colleagues. Her negotiation and organisational skills are renowned in the industry, and are combined with an honest, nononsense approach to both life and work

A knowledgeable advertising and marketing specialist, Emma believes the rapport and trust she has with her clients and suppliers is key when working to deliver projects both to time and budget. Her experience in the industry has seen Emma work on substantial creative and media buying accounts for the likes of Elddis, BSW Timber, NHS North East, South Tyneside College and Lakes College.

Lisa Nixon - our organiser Lisa is the person that keeps everything ticking at Press Ahead! With over twenty years’ experience working in the media and publishing industry, Lisa has a strong track record in project and events management, administration, campaign planning and marketing support.
