Robot simplifies integration Line combines speed, precision and predictive maintenance functions.

N BOOTH S-2372 Achieve Your Efficiency Goals with H.B. Fuller FullVision™ Services Big data is a big challenge for most manufacturers, as they often find that there is not enough time and resources to collect, analyze and make sense of large quantities of data. Using H.B. Fuller proprietary software, H.B. Fuller FullVision™ experts analyze your packaging line data and create a detailed, viewer-friendly report that helps you develop target adhesive specifications and track line performance against industry benchmarks. Get full optics on your end-of-line packaging data with FullVision™ Data-Analytics Consulting Service to improve your quality, productivity and bottom line!

ew i4 selective compliance articulated robot arm (SCARA) robot from Omron (Booth N-4740) occupies less space to make it easier to install on existing lines. Fast, repeatable, easy to operate and flexible for multiple configurations and applications, the robot is well suited for lines with frequent changeovers and meets the needs of mass customization. The first three models, the i4-650, i4-750 and i4-850, which have an arm reach of 650mm, 750mm and 850mm, respectively, are expected to debut in spring 2019. Two Z-axis strokes, 210mm and 410mm, are available, and the 15kg payload increases capacity three-fold. To simplify installation, the compact iCS controller is fully integrated into a stylized base, minimizing footprint and wiring with no flyover cable. Interactive software simplifies programing and operation. In an industry first, an EtherCAT module, connected directly on the robot controller and arm, maximizes configuration flexibility. EtherCAT connectivity enables easy communication with other equipment on the line. Synchronizing the i4 robot with Omron’s controllers, vision sensors and servo motors, optimizes operation, maximizes speed and accuracy and supports complex tasks that were previously impossible. Another first for a SCARA robot is a built-in display designed to expedite troubleshooting and predictive maintenance. A light ring and screen embedded into the base indicate the right operation to perform at the right time and reduce unscheduled downtime. The light ring serves as a robot “health” indicator, informing users of its current mode, such as, “warranty update required.” As a result, manual checks and maintenance plans are no longer needed. In addition to three standard models with various arm reaches, the i4 SCARA robot family will include several special designs: inverted, IP65, Clean Room ISO 4 (Class 10), electrostatic discharge and units that use food-grade H1 grease.
