Tarhata was a woman who migrated to Manila from her native Zamboanga in the southern Philippines. With no job, she stayed with others from her province and lived in a small wooden shack with no running water or electricity. Without a husband or brother to protect her, she became an easy prey for the local men and soon became pregnant.
