BEST LOCAL WINERY Point Reyes Vineyard Inn & Winery is a quaint bed and breakfast overlooking 800 acres of seaside ranch and vineyard in West Marin. While the dairy has been operating since 1973, Steve and Sharon Doughty planted the ďŹ rst grapes for the 15-acre vineyard in 1990. They opened the three-bedroom inn six years later and the tasting room three years after that. Point Reyes Vineyard Winery is known for its award-winning sparkling wine and excellent Terra Linda cabernet. They’ve also housed merlot, zinfandel,

chardonnay, syrah, late-harvest viognier and a commemorative line of Grateful Dead wines. “What we can’t grow, we buy grapes from Napa and Sonoma and make at home, says Steve, who started winemaking 22 years ago, and believes that good wine is made from “good grapes from good regions, clean facilities and not rushing the process. He is now assisted by winemaker Will Clark. The scenic property is also a coveted venue for small weddings and parties, picnics are encouraged, and Sharon is a veritable historian of West Marin culture. ---------------------------------------------Point Reyes Vineyard Inn & Winery
