Brought to life by New York City-based Army of Moon People and BHDM Design, Shoreline Waikiki’s bold redesign paints a playful and laidback portrait of the Hawai‘i lifestyle, juxtaposing a bold, tropical color palette with natural materials, contemporary shapes and imagery of the state’s flora and fauna. Guests are greeted with the warmth of an eternal sunset in the form of Shoreline’s signature ombré wall before checking in with the concierge beneath a neon “aloha” sign set against a bright pink backdrop in the open-air lobby. The fluorescent hallways and multicolored floors lead to rooms decorated with custom carpet, bedding, drapery, furnishings and a “you are here” topographic map of the Hawaiian Islands. The redesign also includes a 26-foot white “jungle wall” art piece in the lobby and an

updated rooftop pool deck with a one-of-a-kind neon wall mural by California-based artist DJ Neff. “Our design aim for Shoreline was to create a colorful and unique experience for the millennial-minded traveler,” says Dan Mazzarini, owner of BHDM Design. “We’ve designed Shoreline to be the backdrop to an already exciting getaway.” And the changes don’t stop there. New weekly programming includes a pop-up shave ice cart, pau hana hour, yoga classes, paint night, haku lei-making workshops, hula and ukulele lessons, night swimming, live music and maker markets featuring local artisans. Shoreline has left nothing untouched in creating a space as memorable as the stay. Every corner is a new photo opportunity—no filters needed.
