15 Top schools, convenience drive Die Boord’s demand BOLAND SOLD

Eikestadnuus

STELLENBOSCH

The popular Stellenbosch suburb Die Boord continues to attract strong demand from family buyers, thanks to its central location and proximity to some of the town’s leading schools. Pam Golding Properties (PGP) reports that its attractive homes and quiet setting alongside farmlands and the Eerste River make it a favourite for those wishing to raise their children in a family-friendly environment, where children can still play in the neighbourhood and walk to school safely. “The suburb lies within the catchment area of a number of leading

schools, both English and Afrikaans medium,” says PGP’s area manager for Stellenbosch, Louise Varga. “These include some of the topachieving schools in the province – within a radius of just a kilometre or two from Die Boord lie three of the top 20 schools in the Western Cape, as ranked on the provincial education department’s 2013 list of excellence in academic performance. Hoër Meisieskool Bloemhof was sixth on that list, with Paul Roos Gimnasium in eighth and Rhenish Girls’ High in thirteenth place. Eikestad Primary and Rhenish Primary are also within walking distance of most homes in Die Boord, as are several excellent

pre-primary schools.” Despite its tranquil setting, Die Boord is flanked by several arterial roads including Adam Tas and the R44, which offer convenient access to the centre of Stellenbosch or to Cape Town and its international airport. Also located in the suburb is Mediclinic Stellenbosch as well as the Ipic Shopping Centre, which hosts a Superspar, take-away outlets, a pharmacy with a day clinic and beauty spa, as well as banks, a vet and a post office. “There is everything one could need for day to day living, almost within walking distance,” says PGP agent for the area Lizaan Fourie. Die Boord is dominated by freehold

homes, with only a handful of sectional title properties on offer. Prices range from R1 million to R3,4 million for the sectional title homes, and from R2 million to R5 million for freehold properties, depending on the size of the erf and condition of the property. Many owners have enjoyed significant growth in their capital value, says Varga – for instance, a home purchased for R2,95 million in 2008 was sold for R3,995 million in 2013 – an average annual growth of 14,64%. Among the properties currently on the market in Die Boord, exclusively through PGP, is an immaculate family home with three bedrooms and four spacious reception areas, as well

as a triple garage. The property has excellent flow from its open-plan living areas onto a covered patio with built-in braai and security shutters. The large garden contains a saltwater-chlorinated swimming pool, while the home’s upmarket finishes include Travertine tiles, American shutters, air-conditioning and underfloor heating. The property occupies an erf of 868 m², and is on the market at R4,25 million. To view this home or for more information, contact Fourie on 021 887 1017 or 079 047 8585. PGP’s area manager for Stellenbosch, Louise Varga, can be reached at louise.varga@pamgolding.c.za.

Audi A1 R18 Le Mans Limited Edition MOTORPRESS

In celebration of Audi’s rich heritage at the 24 hours of Le Mans, Audi South Africa is proud to announce the introduction of a special edition Audi A1. The R18 Le Mans Limited Edition has been introduced in anticipation of the 2014 Le Mans race, which promises to be one of the most exciting and competitive races in the history of Le Mans. A limited number of 100 units have been secured for the South African market and provide extremely high value to the Audi customer. The R18 Le Mans Edition includes key styling elements from the R18 Le Mans race car which has been adapted and translated to enhance the Audi A1. Among the design elements, the most symbolic is the number “378” which can be found on the exterior of the car and represents the number of laps which led the Audi R18 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 2012. The limited edition model also includes the winning drivers’ signatures on the top corner of the rear window. The package includes the following equipment: 17-inch cast aluminium wheels in 5-V-spoke titanium look design. Competition kit front spoiler and side sills Rear diffuser and Competition Kit rear roof spoiler. Sport tail pipes. R18 decals in red or grey. Exterior mirrors in Ice Silver or Misano Red.

This model is available with a choice of the following exterior colours: Amalfi White, Glacier White, Misano Red, Phantom Black and Brilliant Black at an additional cost of R 1 850. Brilliant Black at an additional cost of R1 850. The Audi A1 R18 Le Mans Limited Edition is now available to customers on all Audi A1 Hatchback and Audi A1 Sportback SE models at an additional cost of only R10 800 over and above the standard price of the

vehicle. The Audi A1 SE range is priced as follows, including the standard 5-year/100 000 km Audi Freeway Plan: Audi A1 Hatchback: Audi A1 1.6 TDI SE manual: R262 500 Audi A1 1.4T FSI SE manual:

It was therefore an easy choice to appoint South African musician, ChianoSky, as the newest Audi Brand Ambassador for the Audi A1 range. ChianoSky’s mix of jazzy pop has seen her racing up the airplay charts in South Africa, showcasing her as one of South Africa’s most exciting, fresh and talented discoveries. She released her first album in July 2012 which received five nominations at the 2013 South African Music Awards, and is poised for further success in 2014. “We feel that ChianoSky is the perfect representation for the highly successful Audi A1 range. She is progressive in her approach to her music and has an innovative style and personality – all of these are qualities of the Audi brand and more specifically of the Audi A1. We are excited to welcome her on-board as an Audi Brand Ambassador,” said Ryan Searle, Head of Audi South Africa.

National motorcycle racing enters a new era MOTORPRESS Motorcycle circuit racing enters a new and exciting era in 2014 with the formation of a standalone national championship tour, with a planned eight rounds in five provinces. The motorcycle only SuperGP Champions Trophy will be promoted and managed by GAS Sports and the race meeting format will be similar to the FIM World Superbike Championship. The headline category will be called SuperGP with support categories including SuperTwins, Super600, Super600M, SuperMasters and Superbikes. SuperGP is a unique South African category for 1 000 cc entry level evo rules machines (limited modifications) that has been introduced to meet the need for a more affordable premier racing category. Super600 is a new evo rules category for 600cc bikes, while Super600M is equivalent to the current Supersport category for modified machines. Superbikes is the existing national championship category for modified 1 000 cc machines. SuperMasters will cater for SuperGP riders aged over 35 on 1 000 cc bikes, complying with both the Superbikes and SuperGP technical regulations. It is intended that the above five championship categories will all hold national championship status. SuperTwins will cater for 1 000 cc to 1 200 cc twin-cylinder modified machines and will be a national challenge series. The six categories are expected to attract between 90 and 120 competitors per race meeting.

GAS Sports executive director Anthony Lauter said the new championship and categories have been 10 months in the making, with lengthy discussions with Motorsport South Africa (MSA) and the motorcycle importers and distributors with cost containment being a key priority. A briefing session with all current competitors took place recently and the new plans were met with a positive response. Lachlan Harris, the national director of the Association of Motorcycle Importers and Distributors (AMID) said the planned SuperGP Championship Trophy was a significant step in the right direction, with the potential to provide a strong sports marketing platform for the motorcycle brands to leverage, while ensuring the barrier to entry and cost to compete were more favourable for the manufacturers and competitors. The opening round of the SuperGP Champions Trophy will take place in March with rounds being run monthly thereafter, culminating in October with the championship finals for the premier categories being run as support races in the planned SA round of the FIM World Superbike Championship. The full calendar, which is subject to MSA approval and inscription requirements, will be announced later this month. MSA’s chief executive of operations, Adrian Scholtz, said MSA’s management and board of directors were delighted with the envisaged partnership with GAS Sports and that the plans shared to date bode well for an exciting future for national motorcycle circuit racing.
