LANDSCAPE-PLACE-CONCEPT The natural landscape: lakes trimming small islands and peninsulas. From far distance a great lake and its islands\water-flowers, maybe. A fragile and delicate filigrana simultaneously but undoubted in its identity. The disperse and fragmented built which logic or logics are difficult to read and crossed by well-sized road infrastructures. Upon this kind of low density building field we propose to build a repeating structure: a bar code, which sits onto the embraced and attached landscape: trees as constructs and buildings as landscape, being landscape the project designer. The building: space for living and parking garage is a thin stripe such as a wooden net that was unrolled and veils the ground. The project as a counterpoint to the existing buildings repeats a building structure that rigorously defines alignments, outdoor spaces and paths. The structural building grid presents the new built area as a complement to the landscape where it sits and the one it creates. The building structure being a score directs the territory, as a stamp it marks identity allowing reading subtle differences, and the landscape irregularity becomes ever readable. The copper layer on the top of the housing buildings (thick stripe)

folds creating an undulated landscape above the ground: each house gets an individual presence. The territorial occupation is dispersing and the roads and paths which structure landscape set up a net as a departure point to build the landscape. The existing road connects the building stripes and expands over the existing peer as the new anchorage for boating. A stone platform is attached to the new peer and from the water emerges an excavated and natural swimming pool that can work as a skating area during winter. The platform:( a ruin?), is used a medium to build multiple programs to support recreational water uses. The existing condition is sculpted to texture a complex built out of different raise levels. An outdoor fireplace resembles the A. Aalto's Muuratsalo house. A net of buildings set upon the landscape, a stone platform emerging from the lake waters and a road that links all this places.

DWELLING The building: a unit and a complex, appears to be a succession of repetitive thick walls which search for an unique dwelling condition and form between the rural and the urban settlement. However, the site condition allows landscape to create expansions and extensions into the building ground floor. The landscape surface invades through the glass faรงade the bottom of the building. The patio breaks apart the massive thickness of the stripe to give a more elegant and subtle texture, allowing the ground to breath. During summer the patio becomes a place to capture and to retain the light and during the winter the patio reflects the light condition of the landscape from its interior boundaries. The design search for banality - if the word banality has an ambiguous meaning, I use it not to refer to uninteresting, without quality, but thinking of available continuity A. Siza Vieira This sought for banality encounters another settlement upon the rural landscape, an expansion of the place materiality and memory; where strangeness becomes a surface of available continuity. The building place belongs to the landscape where it sits: living conditions merge with landscape to create another place. The dwelling proposal offers a clear topology to occupy the land. The parking areas, the inner street and the service street are located facing North as well as places to dwell, to stay and to cross. Facig East the entrance hall ends the gallery corridor and facing West it is seen the lake and the landscape. The service unit structured by vertical accessibility is programmed by the location of the kitchen, the bathroom and the apartment infrastructures supplies, and defines the boundary to enter the apartment. Facing South are located the rooms and the patio. A very simple scheme allows variations along the stripe, thus offering multiple typology within the same unit which has the patio as a common place. Exceptionally the rooftop can be occupied as a place for living.

COMPETITION TASK Seven building Units = 1300 m2/ each x 7 = 8200 m2 Unit = 1300 m2, 2 storey high (in specific conditions 3 storey high) = 10 apartments, each unit has besides a 12 places covered parking area garage above the ground structure, whose walls merge into the landscape scale. Appartments typology : T1 = 59 m2, T2 = 78 m2, T3 = 93 m2, T4 = 115 m2 This proposal presents a low-density scheme to build low-raise buildings, and to provide the place with many recreational open-air areas. Although the building structure is not dispersing as the existing condition is flexible enough to absorb all landscape elements and creating a common surface. The controlled grid allows a control over the housing landscape design as well as its program and its maintenance. The program for the lake area: programmed platform creates a its own centrality apart the city’s one and can be read as a urban fragment such as a anchored plaza facing the city, and by this it states a unique condition in relation to the surroundings. The project evaluates the existing roads and paths structure, mostly to the road that connects the housing areas, the public parking lots and the lake’s plaza. From a more rigid departure point (from within) the bike trails and the paths nearby the lake’s margin create a random net that linked to the existing ones provide an entire and well-woven path system. MATERIALITY The plan of the buildings, is based on the idea of solid elements ( concrete made, solid sanitary blocks and kitchen) placed at regular intervals in the overall ground plan within a large, flowing continum of space. We want the inhabitantsto feel at home, an impression enhanced by the use of elements witch they recognize from their own lives and the surrounding villages: timber flooring, that sounds hollow when you walk on it, wooden panelling on the walls; and a private patio protected from the wind. On the outside, the top floors of the buildings and the parking structure are light and wooden made. The wooden made façade is more opaque in its North side, in contrast with the lower floor greater transparency due to the wooden framed glass panel. On the rooftop a thin copper layer covers the surface and gives a proper texture and colour. These constructs: the buildings recreate and reinvent the construction system and character of some of the rural buildings.
