VISION

MISSION

FOUNDATION

Dear Parents, Its surprising that it is already the 3rd month of the new year and time seems to fly. Let’s ensure that we use every second of the precious gift of life meaningfully, ensuring that we are contributing positively to our children’s life and the global world. The character attribute for the month of February was integrity. It is defined as firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values or in simpler words knowing and doing what is right. Integrity promotes a positive reflection of oneself and a person with integrity is truthful, honest and dependable. At all ages, children learn a lot through observation and modelling of character attributes is the best way to ensure character building. Integrity is associated with high moral values, telling the truth, strong commitment to purpose, being respectful and helpful, self-control and standing up for what’s right. We can promote it by: • • • • •

Setting high standards of behaviour and abide by them even in tough situations Standing up for what we believe is right and correct thing to do Choosing words and actions that are genuine, not ambiguous. Remaining committed and self-controlled, even when challenged. Learning from mistakes; grasping any chance to progress.

Let us build a strong character base for all our children together. Our priority and primary concern will be the safety of our students and staff. • Please always report to the main gate (Gate no 1) to sign in and obtain a Visitor’s Pass whenever you are visiting our school. • Please also be aware that the report time for students to arrive at school is 7:30 a.m. Students are still arriving at school much too early. Please do not leave your child unattended! • Kindly ensure that you approach the reception only. All your queries and requests will be dealt with effectively.

It is not permissible for any parent to approach any student or class at any time. Thank you for all your support and looking forward to effective sharing of ideas for improving the school further.

Aisha Ansari Principal

MATHEMATICS - DATA HANDLING One would wonder how children learn Data Handling in the early years…well…firstly young children experience sorting data from a very early age, for example sorting their toys into categories such as blocks and cars. Connecting the topic of data handling to student’s everyday lives makes students' learning more relevant and enjoyable for them as they can see the connections and benefits of having their learning linked to skills they are already familiar with. Our FS children thoroughly enjoyed collecting data and organizing it in a variety of ways.

ACTIVITY BASED LEARNING

FISH INVESTIGATION FS 2 children learnt all about sea creatures during the month of February. They had an amazing time exploring and investigating a real FISH. They observed the different body parts…and had the opportunity to touch and feel the skin and scales…they even had a go at descaling it. They learnt some fish facts…

THE STORY OF RAINBOW FISH Children listened to the story of the Rainbow Fish and enjoyed all the associated activities. They learnt all about friendship and sharing through the moral of the story. They illustrated and wrote sentences about the Rainbow Fish and enjoyed ART & Craft activities as well.

STEM FAMILY PROJECT Parents were invited to participate in a STEM innovation activity with their children. Together they enjoyed constructing a little model using recyclable material; a model that highlighted STEM; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Children were so excited to work with their parents. Various models were constructed; each one was innovative in its own way. Parents appreciated our integrated approach to teaching and learning skills of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in the classrooms and learning centres. Our endeavour is to have STEM invention in every child’s hand.

FS FLORAL GARDEN Children see the world through their wonderful different eyes and inspire us to do the same – they look at it from their very colourful, fresh perspective. Our little FS children have started up a beautiful Floral garden this year. They have taken the initiative in preparing the soil…planting…and are now watering them daily... observing the growth. They are so excited to see the lovely flowers. They look after their garden…with much Love and Care!

This was made possible through the help of passionate learners showcasing the same level of dedication and hard work which led to another success similar to the last breakfast event in October. We, at The Oxford School, strive our best to make sure that our ancillary staff at school are content as well, for we believe that appreciation should be given to each of the school staff member who give their “all” throughout the school year: the maintenance personnel who get our school cleaned and ready for the day, the transportation department who ensures to get everyone safely to and from school each day, and the support staff whom both students and teachers depend on for a huge variety of duties. They deserve our gratitude, respect, and total recognition.
