The men's teams continue to battle in their respective league matches. The 1s had a difficult game against an experienced Oundle team last saturday but came away with a valuable bonus point for scoring 4 tries. The achievement was extra special as we had 4 x 18 year olds in the pack who really took it to a much bigger and more experienced pack. Despite conceding 69 points there were big improvements in many aspects of the defence which was very pleasing to see. The 1s take on a very strong Canterbury team today in what promises to be another tough encounter. The lads will be throwing the ball around again today so expect an entertaining game!
The 2s and 3s had a break last week but are back in action today against Windsor and Oxford 2s respectively. The 2s remain winless this season but so are Windsor. Both teams were promoted last year and are finding the step up equally difficult. The 3s are looking to maintain their unbeaten record this week at Oxford RFC. They are full of confidence after a bonus point win against Buckingham 2s last time out. Alan Hancocks men will be hoping to bring all 5 points back to Horspath Rd.
I'd personally like to extend a warm welcome to the sponsors and members at the lunch today, your continued support is very much appreciated.

Pete Davies

Following their promotion last season, the Women’s 1st XV are now competing in the Championship South West League (Level 3), while the 2nd XV provides valuable opportunities for developing players. The step up to the Championship has presented its challenges, but the team has found their rhythm and continues to play excellent rugby, with the squad’s strength and depth growing each week.
With the season now in full swing, there’s a real buzz across the women ’ s and girls’ sections. The girls’ programme continues to go from strength to strength, with new players joining each week and some excellent rugby being played, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our fantastic volunteer coaches and coordinators. It’s exciting to see the players developing each week and building the future of women ’ s rugby at the club.
