This year marks the first year the school has fully embarked on its updated vision and mission, with the key focus to develop our Punggolites into self-directed and adaptable active contributors. In today’s rapidly evolving world, where AI is reshaping industries and climate change is altering our way of life, being self-directed and adaptable is no longer an option – it’s essential. Our students must be ready to upskill continuously, pivot when circumstances change, and actively contribute solutions to current or even future problems. All these skills and dispositions can only be put to good use with the right moral compass, hence building our students’ character and grounding them in values remains our core purpose. As we build our students’ character, we are shaping not only their future but also the future of our nation, as the youth of today will become society’s contributors tomorrow.
This year was a vibrant and engaging one as we launched new initiatives to create meaningful connections. We officially launched our school Instagram (IG) account to share the diverse experiences and achievements of our students with the wider Punggol community. This platform allows us not just to showcase our achievements, but also the spirited energy of our school community. By using the IG account to share encouraging messages with the students for their various milestones, we also demonstrate and role model how social media can be used positively.
This year also featured our inaugural Punggol Carnival, an event born from student feedback and designed to celebrate Youth Day with purpose. The booths were all planned and conceptualised by the Secondary 2 cohort as well as the different student leader groups. What was so special about the carnival was that it was not just about fun and games, as the Secondary 2 classes also had to come up with advocacy booths to spread awareness about causes close to their hearts, from environmental sustainability to the different disability groups, exemplifying what an active contributor stands for. This was truly a “by Punggolites, for Punggolites” initiative, which left an indelible mark on the staff and students.
Throughout the year, we have witnessed our students giving their best across various domains, including academics, sports, and aesthetics. Many have achieved commendable outcomes in various competitions, standing tall among their peers. Yet, more than the awards and accolades, what we truly want to affirm is the resilience and adaptability demonstrated by the students as they had to navigate unfamiliar contexts and adapt accordingly. More importantly, these platforms also enabled the students to build their confidence and self-belief in having the courage to realise or even stretch their potential.
All these would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of our extraordinary team of staff as well as the strong support and partnerships from our various stakeholders, including the School Advisory Committee, parents, alumni and community partners. Each of our staff and stakeholders invested time and effort to work together to provide a holistic and enriching school experience for Punggolites. We are also happy to share that we have a new Vice-Principal Administration, Mr Ng Chee Kiang, joining the school this year.
As we navigate an increasingly fragmented, fragile and fast-paced world, we can never fully anticipate what is going to happen. It is then up to our Punggolites to take ownership of their journey, stand up for what is right, adapt to the changing contexts and make a positive contribution to the different communities in which they are situated. At the end of the day, the school will always be a safe harbour where students can learn from their mistakes and a vibrant stage for them to shine with their different talents. We look forward to many more stories to tell of our Punggolites!

Ms Wee Fong Chi SAC Vice-Chairman

2025 has been a year where Punggol Secondary School continued to build on its strengths while charging ahead with its focus to develop Punggolites into confident, adaptable and self-directed active contributors. In our rapidly evolving world, where technological advances and global events can disrupt economic equilibrium overnight, these qualities ensure that students can thrive regardless of what the future holds. Adaptability for example allows students to embrace change as an opportunity rather than a threat, helping them to pivot when circumstances shift and remain resilient in the face of unexpected challenges. Beyond all these, the school continues to put character development at the heart of every student’s educational journey.
Alongside my fellow SAC members, we would like to extend our congratulations to the school for the numerous student accomplishments and recognitions achieved across different domains like academics, sports, uniformed groups, and performing arts, as well as the various distinctions earned by the staff. In fact, the school has broken new ground in some of these achievements where Punggolites came up top among very competitive fields in some of the competitions and setting new standards of excellence in the process.
2025 marks my third year as the Chairperson of the School Advisory Committee (SAC) since joining the SAC in 2019. I am happy to share that Ms Wee Fong Chi, a SAC member who is also a Pei Dao (predecessor of Punggol

Secondary School) Alumni, has stepped up to serve as the Vice-Chairperson of the SAC. We will continue to lead the SAC to support the school’s initiatives and enrich the students’ educational experiences. For example, the SAC Bursary Award, funded by the SAC, continues to recognise outstanding Punggolites for their excellence in academics and co-curricular activities whilst motivating them to achieve even higher levels of success. Earlier in the year, the SAC members also shared their expertise and experience from the different industries ranging from property development and construction engineering to healthcare and nursing, with the graduating students during their Career Fair. To top it off, the SAC also sponsored the ice cream and popcorn booths in the Punggol Carnival which brought much cheer to the students.
On behalf of the SAC, I would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude to the staff for their dedicated efforts and genuine care in providing a holistic educational experience for the students. I would also like to extend our appreciation to the parents for their unwavering support and commitment in collaborating with the school to nurture and develop their children.
I wish the school continued growth and success!
Mr Chia Ngiang Hong Chairman School Advisory Committee

At Punggol Secondary School, the Parent Support Group (PSG) is a valued and trusted partner in our shared mission to support the holistic development of every Punggolite.
As a supportive partner in education, the PSG works closely with the school to align with its goals and values - actively contributing to programmes that nurture students’ well-being and enrich their learning experiences. This year, the PSG played a key role in milestone events such as the inaugural Punggol Carnival, and also piloted the “PSS Cafe: The Chat” as a meaningful prelude to Parent-Child Bonding Activity. We have rallied parents of the graduating cohort to prepare care packs for our Secondary Four and Five students, offering both encouragement and support during a critical time. The PSG also lent its presence and contribution to school-wide celebrations including International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day, CrossCountry, the Partners’ Career Sharing Session, Teachers Day celebrations and Graduation Tea, inspiring students, strengthening cultural appreciation, and creating enjoyable shared experiences in the process.

In its role as a bridge between parents and the school, the PSG fosters open, respectful, and constructive communication. By gathering feedback and listening to the voices of parents, the PSG helps to ensure that school practices remain responsive, transparent, and grounded in care for every student.
The PSG also serves as a lighthouse for other parents, modeling the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect. Actively engaged themselves, PSG members encourage other parents to take part in the school community, deepening the connection between home and school. Through thoughtful involvement, PSG has helped to build a nurturing environment where students feel supported, parents feel heard, and the school community grows stronger together.
Together, we remain committed to shaping a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking community where every Punggolite can thrive.

We are truly honoured to partner with Punggol Secondary School in nurturing future-ready Punggolites who are confident, caring and committed to making a difference. As the school continues its meaningful journey, the PSG stands by wholeheartedly - dedicated to supporting its vision, fostering a strong and caring community, and growing together toward even greater achievements.

The 2024 Open House showcased the holistic and vibrant Punggol Secondary School (PSS) experience to prospective Primary Six students and their parents. Student leaders confidently led tours and presentations, sharing their experiences and demonstrating active contribution to the school community. Visitors enjoyed performances by co-curricular groups, interactive activities from the Applied Learning Programme, and an inspiring talk by the Principal and members of PSS Alumni. The event was a great success, drawing an impressive turnout of over 1,200 visitors and giving attendees a memorable glimpse into the school’s culture, programmes and spirit of student leadership.

Punggol Secondary School celebrated its 68th Speech & Awards Day on 23 May 2025, honouring student achievements across multiple domains. The event’s theme, “Building Character, Shaping Future,” captured the school’s commitment to developing future-ready Punggolites of integrity and purpose. Our School Advisory Committee Vice-Chairman, Ms Wee Fong Chi,

graced the event as Guest-of-Honour, alongside more than 300 proud parents and student representatives. The ceremony was a joyous occasion of recognition and gratitude, celebrating perseverance, excellence and the collective efforts of the Punggolite community in shaping young lives.

Momento presented to Guest-of-Honour

Our inaugural PSS Carnival was a blast! Held to mark the start of Term 3 and Youth Day, the school enjoyed games, crafts and community fun.
Student-run booths showcased Secondary Two VIA projects and engaging activities by ASE students, Student Councillors, Peer Support Leaders and the Parents’ Support Group. All enjoyed the SAC-sponsored ice cream and popcorn treats, a lively thrift store and performances by our very own talented Punggolites.
Stealing the show was the ASE-run Dunking Booth - where students and staff, including the Principal, gamely took the plunge to everyone’s delight!

Our Interact Club members created plasticine artworks on frames which are featured on the Healing Arts Wall at Eunos Polyclinic (Level 3) from Friday, 21 November 2025 onwards. These pieces are intended to brighten the space and make visitors feel welcomed.
This project was made possible in collaboration with our Craft & Tech Department and MTL Department Malay Unit 2025.

Working with #PSSUnited, we know it is vital that the EAS Team supports staff and students fully.
We gather annually for the EAS day to help us learn together and strengthen our bonds with one another. The EAS Day programmes offer platforms for us to learn collectively, and bond as a team that meaningfully advances the school’s vision, mission and values.

On 10 Sep 2025 together with School Leaders, we spent EAS Day on learning and bonding activities. We started the morning with resistance band exercises, had fun playing childhood games and in the afternoon embarked on a learning journey to Scentopia in Sentosa. Like blending scents into a PSS bespoke perfume, our EAS staff mixed joy, laughter, camaraderie and learning into a day of true bonding!

Our focus this year is on equipping teachers to design and facilitate learning experiences that develop students’ adaptive thinking and self-directedness, particularly through the aid of technology. When teachers are skilled in these areas, they can better foster a growth mindset in their students, ensuring that every learner is equipped with the essential skills for the future.
For Executive and Administrative Staff, they continue to attend relevant courses, targeting the specific skills that they have identified.
Staff Well-being Committee organised different activities such as Durian Party and Staff Wellness Workshops which provided a platform for staff and students to share their talents and interests.

Punggol Secondary’s Learning for Life Programme (LLP) focuses on Community and Youth Leadership, nurturing future-ready Punggolites who are empathetic, adaptable and committed to contributing to society. Through collaborative projects and shared goals, students build confidence and a strong sense of purpose. The LLP also offers authentic opportunities
for students to understand community needs and take meaningful action, cultivating care, responsibility, and active citizenship. Ultimately, the LLP empowers Punggolites to lead with heart and make a positive difference - within school and beyond - embodying the spirit of service and leadership that defines our community.

At Punggol Secondary, we believe leadership begins with service. Our Student Leadership Programme nurtures a community of selfdirected, adaptable servant leaders who are grounded in strong values and committed to making a difference. Through various school initiatives, student leaders inspire their peers by leading with purpose and compassion.

The annual Student Leaders’ Investiture is a highlight of the year where graduating Secondary Four leaders pass the baton to their Secondary Three successors. This meaningful ceremony celebrates the dedication and contributions of our outgoing leaders, while welcoming a new generation of Punggolites who continue a leadership legacy of serving with integrity, empathy and pride.

The Talent Development Programme (TDP) nurtures high-potential students to become confident, well-rounded individuals ready to meet future challenges. Throughout the year, students participate in enriching experiences that promote independent learning, adaptability, and community engagement in line with the school’s vision. They develop essential skills through courses in critical thinking, problem-

solving, public speaking, and communication. Learning journeys to Justice Courts and Flight Experience centres offer meaningful industry exposure and career insights. Additionally, targeted exam skills workshops equip students with practical strategies and time management techniques, helping them excel academically while pursuing their passion for growth and discovery.

The After School Engagement (ASE) programme enriches students’ experiences beyond the classroom, offering a safe and vibrant space for holistic growth. It provides opportunities to build life skills and forge meaningful connections with peers and teachers. Central to ASE is the emphasis on strong teacher-student relationships, guided by our dedicated Teacher-Mentors who nurture care and confidence in every learner.

This year, we welcomed an enthusiastic batch of Secondary One members who participated in collaborative activities, holiday programmes and even volunteered at the Singapore Special Olympics. Through these experiences, students strengthened friendships and discovered the joy of learning and giving back to the community.

Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) play a key role in building a caring and inclusive school community. As students themselves, they look out for their classmates, lend a listening ear, and help connect peers to support when needed. PSLs also lead fun and meaningful class activities during Form Teacher Time and the Student

Development Programme, creating opportunities for everyone to bond and grow together. Beyond the classroom, they contribute to school-wide events - such as this year’s Punggol Carnivalto strengthen friendships and promote a strong sense of belonging across the school.

National Education at Punggol Secondary nurtures our students’ sense of identity, belonging and responsibility as Singaporeans. Through key commemorative events such as Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day, students reflect on shared values and heritage that unite us. Our dedicated NE Ambassadors, supported by the

Parents Support Group, lead engaging lessons and interactive booth activities that bring national themes to life. These experiences cultivate empathy, respect, and understanding - shaping future-ready Punggolites who value harmony, embrace diversity and contribute confidently to Singapore’s continued growth and progress.

The Aesthetics Programme at Punggol Secondary exposes students to the beauty and diversity of the arts through workshops, performances and learning journeys. This year, assembly showcases featuring hip hop dance and Brazilian percussion deepened students’ appreciation for creative expression. A highlight was the Performing Arts Learning
Journey, where the Secondary Two cohort attended a live performance by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at Victoria Concert Hall. The experience has inspired an appreciation for classical music, along with an exposure to concert etiquette. This encourages our students to explore creativity and celebrate the arts as part of holistic education.

The annual Games Carnival brings together Secondary One to Three students for an exciting inter-class competition featuring Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and Football. This vibrant event promotes active living while providing opportunities for healthy competition among peers. Beyond physical engagement, the carnival builds student confidence as they navigate challenges and collaborate effectively within
their teams. Through this experience, students cultivate essential values including integrity, self-directedness, and adaptability through the context of sports. Through collaborative teamwork and friendly rivalry, the Games Carnival strengthens the bonds of belonging and camaraderie that unite our Punggolites as one school community.

The Applied Learning Module (ApLM) is an enrichment programme that gives students hands-on learning experiences, linking classroom knowledge to real-world applications. Conducted in partnership with ITEs and Polytechnics, it provides valuable exposure to tertiary education and career pathways. Through modules such as Fun with Digital Making, Practical Energy and Water Conservation,
and Be Your Own Website Designer, students get the opportunities to explore their interests and discover their strengths. The ApLM nurtures curiosity, confidence and adaptability—skills essential for a fast-changing world—helping students develop future-ready mindsets and become active, resilient contributors in their learning and future careers.

On 18 August 2025, our graduating cohort marked their final stretch before the national examinations with a heartfelt Graduation Day celebration, made special by parents and the Parent Support Group who donated and distributed care packs. Students also received the signature PSS Graduation teddy bear - a cherished symbol of their journey.
The celebrations culminated on 26 September with a Graduation Tea at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir, featuring photo booths, awards and the crowning of PSS King and Queen. These joyful events celebrated our graduates’ achievements and friendships, creating lasting memories as they embark on their next chapter.

During the 6D5N Overseas Learning Journey to Yunnan, China, students participated in an immersion programme at Anning Middle School and visited a local elderly care centre as part of their Values-In-Action project. They also explored places such as the Stone Forest to learn about Yunnan’s unique geography and the Yunnan Ethnic

Village to learn more about local customs. Through these experiences, students gained a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, developed global awareness, and strengthened their interpersonal skills. The trip also nurtured values of compassion, responsibility, and resilience as they embraced new challenges together.

Our Secondary One Punggolites began their journey with a vibrant three-day orientation programme filled with laughter, new friendships and a memorable campfire night. The excitement continued with a three-day, two-night outdoor camp that strengthened resilience and class spirit. During the Student Development Weeks this year, students explored coding, embarked on learning journeys, joined their first-ever PSS Games

Asst Year Head 1
Carnival, and took part in a self-leadership workshop to enhance their confidence and communication skills. Through these enriching and meaningful experiences, our Secondary Ones discovered more about themselves, developed greater self-direction and adaptability, and grew confidence to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Asst Year Head 1

The Secondary Two year began meaningfully with a “Breakfast with Form Teachers,” fostering stronger bonds between students and mentors. Through Subject Combination Talks and continuous guidance, students were empowered to make informed choices about their academic and personal goals. Student Development Week offered diverse experiences, including a visit
to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the Victoria Concert Hall and an exploration of the Civic District. As part of their Values in Action programme, students planned and organised the lively Punggol Carnival, demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and service. These experiences nurtured responsibility, self-direction, and a deep sense of community.

The Secondary Three year marked an exciting transition as students stepped confidently into Upper Secondary. The year began with two days of bonding activities, fostering new friendships and camaraderie. Through the applied elective modules at ITE and various polytechnics, students gained valuable insights into real-world learning. During Student Development Week,

they participated in engaging programmes such as the Poly Taster Programme at Republic Polytechnic, financial literacy workshops, mass dance sessions and student-led bonding activities. These opportunities strengthened resilience, adaptability, and teamwork - qualities that will empower our Secondary Threes to serve effectively and stride forward with confidence.

As the seniors of Punggol Secondary, our Secondary Four and Five students led with purpose and pride - mentoring their juniors, striving for excellence, and exemplifying the school’s core values. Through Project Autonomy, they cultivated self-belief, supported one another and charted their shared journeys with determination. Competing alongside peers from

other schools, they displayed perseverance, unity and school spirit at every stage. These meaningful experiences strengthened friendships and created lasting memories. As they look ahead, our graduating students are committed to excellence and service, carrying forward the Punggolite legacy with pride and purpose.
