Oxford Aviation only uses leather meeting the following criteria: •

All leather is specified as uncorrected. Correcti-on is a term used to describe the plasticized coating applied to most leathers to allow more complete utilization of a hide. The result is that the actual surface, what you feel and what you sit against, is actually a non-breathable plastic and not natural, breathable leather. The result is less comfort and a significant difference in wear qualities. Plasticized coatings dry and crack with age. Uncorrected leathers breathe and wick away body temperature and obtain an attractive patina over time.

All leathers must have a minimum 4 star rating. Most leathers utilized by Oxford Aviation have obtained 5 star ratings. Full grain, five star leathers will breathe, remain supple, and give longer life.

All leathers are full grain. “Split” leathers are unacceptable.

All leathers are inspected by Oxford Aviation to ensure quality of marking, dye uniformity, depth of color and suppleness.

Average hide size: 45 to 55 square feet

Average thickness: 1.2 to 1.4 mm

Average weight: 3.5 to 4.0 oz. per square foot
