Overseas Studies & Scholarship Program India Custom Program Book 2019


The Introduction to India program provides students with wide exposures to the spectrum of foundational knowledge of Indian history, social and cultural norms, social justice and corporate social responsibility issues across India, economic disparity, cultural manifestations, urbanization and the impact of globalization. The trip will include visits to historical and cultural sites, academic institutions and NGOs. Students will focus on causes and effects of the social issues, the impact on the cultures of India, an understanding of the diversity of Indian cultures, and historical and contemporary ways of life for Indians.


Introduction to India: Social Justice and Responsibility INTS-I100 Examine and explore the contemporary realities for people of India and how these connect to the historical ways of life and cultural norms Acquire knowledge of political, historical, cultural and social issues that are important in modern India Be able to gain a greater understanding of their own values and beliefs and being able to describe these in their own cultural backgrounds

Increase cultural competencies and appreciation for other cultures through immersion and interactive experience Facilitate the student’s personal journey toward enlightenment, understanding of self, and what it means to be American Gain a better understanding of some concepts for analyzing cultural patterns and understand that these methods can be applied in other cultural settings
